This is a good bag and I'll be keeping the one I bought, I just won't be able to use it on a daily basis, just for traveling as a carry on bag.
The bag looks good, holds plenty of stuff, and it is well made...but it has an awkward fit for someone who's 5'6" or under and has a slim/petite build. The top of the shoulder straps sit uncomfortably around the neck (they're too close together) and rub against the skin.
I had someone who's an average build try it on and they found it fit them fine.

Miss having as many compartments as I did previously; the items I put in the bag is less organized as they end up on top of each other. Although I knew that I can't access my laptop via a back ziper, it is annoying to have to reopen the large sleeve just to get it. However, I like the velcro, side mesh and waterproof covering .

This Bag has a good construction and size fit for me, it allows me to get all I need for a work day including a 13" macbook, book, lunchbox, pair of trainers, extra clothing, water bottle, a helmet on the outside and small extras.
It is also very quick to open/close thanks to the Velcro cover top.
Another plus is the outside pocket which is very comfortable to quickly get your train ticket or working place card.
Now for the down side, my biggest complain is that the back padding is very thin, when I'm on the bike, with my back curled, the laptop is pressing on the spine bones, which is annoying.
Another issue, is when the bag is empty, it does not feel tight, compression side straps could have fix this. I think that the Armory laptop backpack could have been a better choice.

I've had this bag for over two years and have just recently retired it as my primary bag (switched to a larger Timbuk2 messenger). I *love* the look of this bag and its versatility...I used it for several years of a PhD program as a school bag and have more recently been using it as an errands-running and walking-around-the-city bag. The large main compartment fits everything I've needed to carry for all purposes, though it's a bit smaller than I'd prefer and important things tend to get lost toward the bottom. I've learned that I prefer a bag with many more pockets than this bag offers...if you value organization, you'll probably dislike the lack of it in this bag. As others have mentioned, the laptop area is lacking in padding/cushion. This hasn't been a huge deal for me, as I always keep my laptop in a sleeve and this compartment is roomy enough to hold that along with my iPad, so I like that my important devices can be kept separate from everything else. I also appreciate that this backpack has a water bottle holder (my messenger doesn't), but the water bottle holder always feels like it's on the wrong side to me. This would probably be a great feature for someone who is left-handed, though. My *biggest* complaint about this bag (and one that I wish I would've seen reflected in more reviews) is that the mesh material on the back of this bag rubs against the bottom of my shirts and causes them to become fuzzy and pilly in that area. I wouldn't say that this has actually *ruined* any of my clothing, but I have had to use a clothing shaver to fix these areas on several garments and it's just really annoying and unfortunate in general. Additionally, because of this rubbing, the mesh material has worn off of the back of my bag pretty significantly at this point, which is beginning to create holes in the bag itself. So, in sum, this is a really nice looking, stylish bag that, though it could use more pockets and padding, is very functional but will damage clothing.

Bought this pack back in Jan. 2017. I use it on my daily commute. I walked through a heavy rain and the small outter pocket in the front did not keep my items dry. Most of my items in this pocket got wet. The large compartment did a good job keeping my things dry, however, I didn't tuck the top right/left corners all the way so some rain did get inside. I find it a difficult transition to swing this backpack to one arm onto it's side to grab something out of the outside zippered pocket. There is only one side stretch pocket for a water bottle/small knick-knacks and it happens to be on the side which I do not usually reach for. If these was a stretch pocket on both sides of the bag or on the other side than it is on now, I would like it better. I can't grab my bus pass or wallet out of the external zippered pocket without fumbling and hitting things around me or hitting my face/chin. Holds a lot in the main compartment, but you'll need some sort of orgnaizational method since it is a deep compartment with limited internal built in organization. Too difficult to take things out/ put things into the bag quickly.

I think it's a great bag if you're a commuter, in school and bike around but I was pretty bummed out and disappointed after being caught in the rain that the bag is not waterproof at all, all of my stuff was soaked thankfully I didn't have any electronics inside because that was one of the main factors in deciding to purchase the bag. I'd definitely recommend it as a good bag to get but would warn that your contents will get wet if the bag gets wet

Not as spacious interior and a stain on the main top foldover flap. Stylish though. Looks like the picture online.

I use it for my commute from Sunnyvale to SF. I was looking for a lightweight backpack and a colleague of mine recommended Timbuk2 to me. It is lightweight and stylish which is a plus point. I got a good bargain during Thanksgiving and decided to try it out. So far I have liked using the bag as it is actually very light. It has very few pockets which forces me to keep minimal things in it. One thing which I dislike about the backpack is the ruggedness of the straps which makes it hard to put on. It is easy to hurt yourself while doing so by rubbing your skin harshly. Also, the velcro on the main pocket makes me wonder if it will last really long, it is too early to say anything though.

I bought this bag for business instead of Ace whose side grip was torn within a month.
I was satisfied with this daypack being both stylish and tough enough for daily usage.
If the top flap would be easier to fix and it would have more side pockets, I would be more pleased.

The Rogue has a great organization section on the inside. Enough to put three pens/pencils/markers, three little pockets and a zipper compartment that is big enough for four Tri-fold wallets. The zipper compartment on the outside is a good size for storing extra inner tubes, lights, tire levers and a wrench. The stitched in straps on the left side and along the bottom part of the face of the backpack are great for sticking a portable pump for the bicycle and clipping on lights. I really like that I could just stick my U-Lock down the middle and the outside stitched in straps hold it in. The straps that clip the main compartment could have been a few inches longer to accommodate when the backpack is stuffed (adding to the height of stuff it carries). The U-Lock/water bottle holder is a perfect size. The ONLY COMPLAINT is the LACK OF BACK PADDING. I can't put my U-Lock inside the main compartment because I will feel it pressing on my back. After a 2-6 hour bicycle ride with only 7-10 pounds of gear, my back hurts because of the LACK OF BACK PADDING. The "back padding" is just a flat sturdy support frame with athletic mesh over it, please fix this in the future and use some quality padding.

The bag is stylish, but its not water proof or resistant. The inside seems almost undone with the lining only on three panals. The plus it has many pockets for all my stuff and plenty space on the inside of the bag and it seem very rugged. My laptop would be fine inside but I think a true laptop backpack should be water tight or resistant. The other plus I like the chest strap and waist strap because it keep the bag still on my rides or even just quick sprints to catch my train, bus or crossing the street while the light still green. I think they could have added a pocket on the flap too but ahhh that's just me being me. My over all its not bad.

its good to take your daily stuff with you. Sufficient space for a computer, a change of clothes, and a water bottle. But the straps are not very comfortable. If they had worked more on their straps the bag would be steal.
It is also a bit of a pain getting into and out of the main pocket because you have to un clip it and then unvelcro it.
Eh, so looks nice but not the best.

Love the easy access main compartment. Love the look.
Smaller than expected. When packed for travel the only outside pocket is extremely difficult to access (super tight). Another "bottle" pouch on the outside would be great for something like a small umbrella.

I love almost everything about this backpack, except that if you put a laptop in it, the back becomes very uncomfortable because there is not enough padding. It's like having board on your back pressing against your spine. There could be more pockets, but that's minor. I am mostly concerned about the comfort of this bag, which seems like something Timbuk2 could easily fix. The aesthetic is great! Just wish it was more comfortable, especially for us on bikes.

I'm positive I'll never be able to break or wear the thing out. It's built like a beast A+++ on that. I got the truffle color, it looks B.A. ,and It's comfy/light. When you wear it, it feels like the real deal. What makes it average is that there should be more padding and pockets. It simply lacks basic organizational accesories on the inside. If the bag had an extra flap for paper or notebooks attached to the laptop poach, had more padding around the laptop poach, and maybe a couple extra small poaches in the lower part of the inside of the bag, the thing would be absolutely perfect in my mind. It can carry a butt ton for as small at it looks. It's just a hastle organizing everything, especially when I have a laptop charger with nowhere to put it except under all my books and junk. I wouldn't recomend this for students who value organization. I am a Timbuk2 fan though, so check one of there other bags if your into that eduacation thing. They make some good stuff but for 79$ this one's just ok if not leaning to overpriced. I hope this review is helpful I just wanted a little bit more out of it for the price. THANKS!!

I expected better from the brand. Main zipper broke within 6 months and needs to be shipped to California to be repaired. Threading is twisted and loose in some areas and it will not stand on its own. I also should've went with a model that has more pockets/ organization but that's on me.

The bag is ok, and I like the design, but it lacks the basic stitching quality that you can find in $10-20 dollar bags sold at any discount stores. I'm thinking whether it's even worth the effort to return it (unfortunately, can't get a replacement b/c it's sold out).

I primarily have used this backpack for college, with a little bit of travel, so I have done a lot of walking with this backpack. I love how comfortable it feels and the large side pocket for my water bottle. However, I have had this backpack for about a year and a half and it is already showing wear. The back mesh panel has worn down to form holes and the inner lining is peeling away (pictures attached). You would think for the price it would last longer than a year and a half.

The bag is fine, except that - at least in my case - it didn't hold very well. I got mine about two years ago, and had to pay for overseas shipping as well as customs tax. So I liked it and was pretty committed. But after maybe two months the stitching on the laptop case started to come out. Over the course of the first year, the tarpaulin exterior started peeling away. It has continued to do so and, at the present moment, it really isn't useful anymore. I bought myself another backpack from a different company, and am trying to salvage what is left of this one by sowing on some of the tarpaulin, cutting some of it off, cutting out some of the loose stitching inside, and patching the exterior with electric tape. Thankfully, due to the tarpaulin exterior, the last bit really doesn't make the bag look too janky.
I realize, at least with the stitching business, that I might have been able to get it taken care of under warranty. But as I have been living outside of the US for the last couple of years, and can't afford to send a backpack to San Francisco for repairs, I was really just hoping for something that wasn't going to come apart right after I got it.
And this was the rub. I bought the bag because I heard really good things about Timbuk2. Their reputation was especially important because exchanging or repairs were not going to be an option for me. This bag was not put through any sort of extraordinary treatment. No crazy weather, no undue stress, no being dragged around on asphalt. On a daily basis it held a laptop in a soft case, a charger, a book and notebook or two, and probably some mints or advil or like that. I kept using it - and kept making due with the increasingly janky bag - because, frankly, I can't afford to spend this kind of money and not get at least a couple of years out of a bag.
This bag was a poor investment, though it was made on excellent information ("Timbuk2 is great" etc). Aside from falling apart, the bag was fine, aesthetically and as far as the fit. While I still like the look and descriptions of their bags (and check them out whenever I am indeed at home in the US and take a trip to REI) I am afraid I can't really justify taking another stab at Timbuk2 bags. Which is a shame, because they are pretty cool.
Hope this helps!

I used a TB2 messenger bag for years and loved its versatility, but was never very comfortable cycling with it for more than a few miles, and i tended to knock things over in tight spaces due to its width. So i got this backpack. It is everything that a TB2 messenger bag isn't...and i mostly mean that in a bad way.
While it is indeed more comfortable than a messenger bag on the bike (The sternum strap is good), and good at keeping out light rain, the details that TB2 is normally so good at are not thought-through on this bag:
- The laptop sleeve puckers and folds over itself when trying to insert laptop, so this is never a one-handed operation
- The velcro strap for holding the laptop in place (does anyone really need this strap to keep their laptop in the sleeve?) gets in the way when inserting a laptop, because it always seems to lay across the opening. Worse, the "hook-side" of the strap, which is inside the body of the pack, grabs my sweater sleeves and cuffs when i'm reaching inside for something.
- Once your laptop is in the sleeve, there's no actual padding on the bottom of the bag, so when you set your bag down you're essentially dropping your laptop on its edge onto the floor. If the bag is very full, the laptop is held a little better, but when nearly empty the back panel just sags and lets the laptop smack down.
- Although i like the size and design of the upper organizer, its weight makes it flop inward when bag is open, getting in the way of loading. This is due to the center section of the front panel being relatively flexible while the bottom and top organizers are heavy and stiff.
- The top-flap loading design, which i was excited about because it mimicks the messenger bag, doesn't allow "overstuffing" the way you can with a TB2 mesenger bag. Both the flap itself and the straps are too short to reach unless the contents are no higher than the top edge of the bag. I don't get why they nerfed this functionality; it was a great way to carry just a bit more without having to buy a bigger bag.
- The bag doesn't have enough structure / square enough bottom to stand upright unless mostly loaded and with only heavy things at the bottom; it tends to flop on it's face even when leaned backwards against something. Impossible to work out of, say when leaning it against the side of your chair at a crowded coffee shop. It flops onto the ground into the aisle constantly.
I realize this sounds pretty harsh, but i feel that when you buy a "laptop backpack" from an experienced brand like TB2, they would have thought of these things.

After only about a year this bag started flaking plastic off of it.
As you can see in the photos I've had to duct tape part of the bag to stop anymore plastic from flaking.
Timbuk2 -- why on Earth would you use such a awful material?
Really appalled by the ecological implications here -- how much plastic is flaking off into our trails, waterways, and environment so you can save a couple of bucks?
This sort of thing should really be illegal.
Loved the bag until it completely started falling apart after, again, less than a year.
