Great bag. Intuitive storage areas. Lots of room for books, computer, travel accessories. This bag travels well and looks great. Really happy with my purchase!

I haven't had bad weather while wearing this bag yet so can't comment on that. I simply wish that the inside linings were a bit more rugged then they are. I love love love how light the bag is and that the space is more than I thought. Truly so pleased with this bag so far.

Great backpack! Sleek, well-designed, and practical. Just enough pockets, and perfect fit for a 15" laptop.

This bag has a ton of storage, which is great but pretty easy to find. What I love is that the bag straps down to basically flatten unused compartments, meaning if you aren't using all the storage it's like carrying a much smaller bag. It's great to have a bag that I can use for everyday commuting on a busy train or for carrying larger loads around.

I took this over to a 3 week tour in Taiwan for a musical church tour and this backpack has been so helpful in helping me carry all the equipment and wires I needed to carry that were necessary for each performance. Also I could store and separate my own ointments and vitamins in the various pockets and compartments it had. The only bad thing I have to say is that the water bottle holder wasn't too great as a bottle would slip out from time to time when I would pick up the backpack off the floor from where I was sitting or staying at.

Used this as one of two carry on bags for an international study trip with university students. Great bag - comfy to wear, looks good, nice slim profile so I could move with it easily, and fits plenty of stuff. I loved it and will definitely buy from Timbuk2 again!

I bought this bag because of a recent career change. In my new role, I will be doing travel on occasion. I used this bag during a recent weekend conference as my only carry on bag. I was able to fit a 3-ring notebook, a weekend's worth of clothing and toiletries, a paperback, large headphones, and a kindle comfortably. I am a short woman (5'4-ish),and this bag hugged me nicely and fit under the seat on the plane.

Very good looking and versitile bag. Has more pockets and space than I expected. Only problem is with laptop and tablet pocket. I have to remove the straps every time I use the pocket. Overall good bag with good material and style.

I use this pack mostly to transport my personal to and from the office. Occasionally it travels with me (and that's when the TSA friendly laptop sleeve is SUPER convenient - otherwise it just seems kind of impractical, and honestly, kind of silly). I do like the fact that the laptop sleeve is on the back of the pack in it's own separate section. It has enough room to carry the supplies I need with room to spare for binders, textbooks, etc. I would highly recommend this to the light commuter or student, but if you're looking for something you can really beat up, this might not be the right option for you.

I used this for a 3D2N business trip. Surprisingly. I managed to get a pair of jeans, 2 shirts, boxers and a t-shirt; 2 underpants, additional socks, toiletries, a MacBook pro, a kindle, power supply, cables and a USB charger, a hardcover notebook, a thin book, stationary, mouse, pens, name cards and card holder, and smaller stuff like Chapstick, moisturizers and meds, all on to the bag and still looked good. Oh did I mention a pair of oakley Holbrooks in the, so functional, sunglasses pocket??!!!

Been using Timbuk2 products for awhile: first with their messenger bags, and to their backpacks.
Hands down, this is the best backpack that I have owned. Very spacious with crimping straps to make it smaller when not using all the the available space in the bag. The straps are wide and comfortable, I am able to lug around a 15" laptop around with the all the accessories associated with it all day.
The recycled tweed has a professional look to it. Very nice material with a great feel to it when touched. Not sure about the ability for it to repel water, but I would say it would be alright.

Great for getting through security at the airport. It fits under the airline seats with no issues. The large compartment holds a light jacket and several smaller items. I do wish there were someway to keep all the items from settling to the bottom of the bag.

This was my first of two Timbuk2 products (will be writing a review of the Copilot Luggage Roller 2014 after this one) and I'm very satisfied with my Command backpack. I'm not a fan of shoulder bags because they don't distribute the weight evenly and can cause shoulder/back issues over time. My Command is stylish, weather resistance (used it while in rainy Boston and it protected all my stuff inside), travels great (I've taken two domestic trips and it handled well on both), has room for all the big and little things, and for the price you get a great product that will last years. The shoulder straps are sturdy and the chest strap helps you distribute the weight if you have a heavy load evenly for proper shoulder/back support. This is ideal for me because I can carry my laptop, gym clothes (tennis shoes and clothing), and work stuff all in one bag and it doesn't look like I'm hauling boulders while in a suit.
The only con I have is very minor. When reviewing the specs said the laptop pocket could hold a 15" laptop, but it doesn't say this is based an Apple 15" laptop. I have a PC (cue all the Apple fanboy/girl groaning in disgust) and it's not a bulky 15" laptop but when you try to place it inside the laptop sleeve it's maybe an inch too tall to fit. This forces me to place it inside the zipper pocket itself which doesn't have the ideal padding protection the sleeve does because the laptop sits on top of the zipper line. This forces me to be very mindful when handling/tossing the bag around when I have my laptop. The sleeve itself could account for this if it ran to the bottom of the backpack (it stops about an inch above) and the bottom of the sleeve extended out maybe half an inch with stretchable fabric in order to better fit/hug most rectangle shaped laptops, not just rounded ends like most Apple products.
This is a very MINOR issue but I thought it worth sharing for my fellow PC users (the laptop sleeve only really fits a Ultrabook style laptop and even then I'd say nothing bigger than 13") and Timbuk2 for future design tweaks. I'm still 100% happy with my Command and would highly recommend it.

I use the Command for work. I am an auditor and travel a lot both by plane and car. I am usually away from home from Monday through Thursday and come back on the weekends. This bag is great with my work/life style because I can pack everything I need for both living and working away from home.
I usually pack all of my toiletries, 2 pairs of pants, 2 shirts (I wear the third pair of each while I travel) socks, 1 pair of gym shorts, 1 t-shirt and underwear in the big compartment. All of my work stuff (10 key, pens, pencils, ruler, computer and iphone/pad chargers, headphones, etc.) goes in the middle pocket and my Ipad in the front pocket (just like the dude in the video). I also tie my running shoes through the compression straps at the bottom of the bag. My work laptop (lenovo X1 carbon) fits perfectly in the TSA pocket, so as to not overstuff the whole bag. I usually go straight to the client site from the airport so the bag is pretty packed that first day, but nothing unbearable. Once I have time to unload at the hotel I can basically shrink the bag down to half of its size with the compression straps. I would not have bought this bag had it not had the compression straps at the bottom (and had I not seen the video of the dude basically living my life).
Sometimes I wish there were compression straps on the side. I think I just really like compression straps though. Other than that this bag is perfect for business travel. Too many other bags advertise as such, but have too many pockets, which actually make it harder to pack and organize everything you need while still keeping it comfortable. The two big pockets on the command make it super easy to pack and organize everything you need. I utilize every centimeter of space in this bag to the fullest and it still feels comfortable on my back.
Last point: Most airlines allow one carry on and a personal item. Before I bought this bag, my carry on would house all of my clothes, etc., and my personal item was always my messenger bag for all of my work stuff. Since I bought this bag, I can choose whatever personal item I want. I went out and bought a Ukulele, and I bring it with me wherever I go. After some practice away from home, I am now a relatively decent ukulele player, and I couldn't have done it without the Command.

Love everything about it. Can hold my Lap top and still have the main compartment for whatever else I need. Awesome pockets. Only gripe is the straps sometimes come loose or become unadjusted. Not a deal breaker though, would still recommend

My household is chock full o' Timbuk2 stuff. Messenger bags, totes, camera inserts, mobile phone pouches, and more. While we all appreciate Timbuk2's burly construction and lifetime warranty on all of its products, pretty much every item has something that could have been done better. Usually it's a small detail, such as Velcro hooks on a flap facing towards clothing (better to have the pile side that way to avoid knit fabrics getting caught up) but sometimes it's a major problem like a rucksack that won't close properly unless it's fully loaded.
This time it's different, as the saying goes. The Command Laptop Backpack has been thoughtfully designed all the way through. It is truly a joy to wear and use. Every pocket, slot, buckle, and strap has been well thought out and elegantly blends form and function.
I have the Carbon Full-Cycle Twill color/fabric choice. This grey colored woven fabric gives the Command a soft, pleasant hand with a professional looking texture. And grey, of course, is a color that works well in pretty much all office, school, and travel situations. Overall, the Command has a nicely understated and minimalist look to it.
The most amazing thing about the design to my mind is that even though the Command is a 32-liter volume pack, it looks and feels like a much smaller pack. When it's not fully loaded and the bottom compression straps are pulled in, it feels, in both size and weight, almost like carrying a 20-liter daypack. Very nice. The other great feature is the TSA-compliant laptop compartment. When you're at an airport security checkpoint, all you have to do is flip the shoulder straps over to the front of the pack and open a zippered flap to expose your computer to TSA screeners. There's even a handle on the long edge of the pack that allows you to carry the bag like a briefcase when the shoulder straps have been rotated. Again, very nice.
Do keep two things in mind, though. First, while the suspension is very comfortable and highly adjustable, the Command isn't suitable for outdoor activity use because it doesn't have a waist strap. Second, anybody who is hard on bags might want to look at one of the nylon fabric color options. I don't think the Full-Cycle Twill will stand up to abrasion, moisture, and abuse as well as the regular nylon fabric.
Bottom line: five stars, for an incredibly well designed and constructed technology backpack.

I needed an all-purpose bag that was stylish and mature enough for work (I'm 40) but could also handle gym clothes or lunch items. This bag is definitely roomy and has great storage capacity. It's a bit boxy for my taste, which, to be fair, I could tell from the pictures online.

The bag is well made, tons of pockets which is one of my fav features. I chose the navy one and love the color. I use it for work mostly and will be traveling with it abroad. The bag has tons of space vertically but fails to have enough room in width. I usually carry my lunch, coffee mug, books, laptop, a planner, and sometimes a spare pair of shoes. These doesn't fit if you try to sort it out in its width. You need to put things vertically on top of each other which I am not sure works 100% for me. I will be using it and I do love it! The straps are comfortable for me, and I love the straps at the bottom where I hang a spare sweater. Overall it is a great bag for commuting but know that it comes narrow. The room you will have is along the height of this bag. It's super well made though and I have bought tons of bags from other companies so I am happy, just wished it was wider.

I've had this pack for a few weeks, and I'm growing into it! I don't know what part of the pack is reflective, so I've been adding my bike light to my bag just in case... lol if someone could tell me what part is reflective I would be much more at ease. That being said, it is really light when I bike even when I'm carrying my gym clothes, textbooks, and lunch for the day. LOVE how much space is available. Kind of wished I got a more colorful one.
