I ordered these to replace an old set of Timberland Flume hiking boots. The Flumes were comfortable, but my feet would begin to feel a bit cramped after 3 or 4 hours of hiking. The Mt. Maddsen's were available in a Wide size, so I ordered them. Even in wide, they were much narrower than my old Flumes, and cramped my feet immediately. I sure wish Timberland could get some consistency in widths of their shoes.

While this product has overall been great. I found that it did not last nearly as long as a previous pair of timberlands boots that they have since discontinued. The other pair I have owned easily 4 years with only scuffing of the leather.
On the other hand this pair I have owned for almost 2 years now has scuffing, a couple small superficial rips, the rubber/foam is seperating from the leather, the soles completely peeled out in the first year, and overall is deteriorating at a much faster rate.
For context I wear these boots every single day (as I did my other pair) and my work is actually probably less harsh on them now (office work, with occasional warehouse/construction type work). I will either be moving to the pro line of boots or looking for a different manufacturer that offers full leather boots without falling apart.

I felt like they ran a little big. I would exchange but the Delivery time was bad. I think we need to speed up the return time

Looks much better on pictures, has an ordinary look in reality. Take 0.5 size bigger from your ordinary Timberland boot size.

I sent them back asking to exchange for a dark brown pair, the Carmel colored ones looked bad after wearing them 2 weeks. I hope they agree, l don't want the Carmel ones.

Used them on a 4 hour hike.
The good:
The shoes have good grip. They look cool. The most good looking hiking boots I've seen. I stepped in a stream and the waterproofing held up. I've used them only once but they feel durable. Generally comfortable besides the two gripes below.
The not so good:
As a flat footed person, the insoles hurt my arches. However, this is the exact reason why I bought these shoes: I can simply switch out the insole for an orthopedic insole. Problem 1 solved. The second problem I ran into was when I hiked with these boots in 89 degree California weather. The shoes are not breathable and the inside of the boot gets like an oven. I now know the true importance of breathability. I mitigated this by wearing wool socks. It still gets really hot in these shoes. After these boots wear out I will opt for a more breathable option.

I usually don't write reviews, I really like timberland boots and have done so for most of my life. These last pair I bought online, came defective. Especially now with what is going on with the economy, I don't want to be spending $ on defective boots. I am a bit disappointed at Timberland. Lets see what can be done about it, I will try to exchange them or return them.

This is my second pair of this model. My first was made in Bangladesh, and they served me well for years, which is why I bought another pair. I was not aware that these are now made in China.

Bought for geology work, after about 7 weeks the outsole had worn down by about 30%. By contrast, I used a pair of work boots in a much more abrasive environment (almost all exposed 80 grit sandpaper equivalent rock) for 6 weeks and they saw minimal if any wear. The rubber is probably softer to provide more grip, but some other outsoles are just as grippy and don't wear as quickly. They aren't waterproof by any means unless you really lather in the wax (nikwax in my case). They are comfortable but I found the laces to be excessively long (about 6" too long) and they hang far down off the side making them get snagged. So in conclusion they are good, but I would prefer shorter laces and tougher outsoles.

I own a lot of Timberland Pro boots and work shoes, so I figured these would be lasted similarly and sized similarly. They are not. Narrow and pinchy toe box.

These boots are very comfortable and very waterproof. I have used them on many hikes including shoulder season multi day solo treks. They don't let water through wet grass mud or puddles. 3 stars because you could get something much lighter that would suit you better and your feet are always soaked even in dry weather because there is no were for sweat to go.

The boot is very comfortable. I've owned 2 pairs in about 5 years. If I wore them casually, they might last forever.. but I use them for work. I work outside in every weather and my current boot survived maybe 4 rain storms before my socks began soaking up water by the toes.
I recommend for casual use. I do not recommend for work or exposure, they are not waterproof.

I'm on my second pair and I'm about to send them back. The rubber on the toe keeps coming loose. And they make my feet sweat like crazy. Great boot for cold weather and rain but not if it's above 40 degrees.

I had to return these boots as they were cut much smaller than the majority of Timberline boots.

Shoes look to be of great quality however they run narrow and the left shoe has an odd pressure point on the outer edge. Everyone's feet are different. For comparison, my current shoes which fit perfectly are New Balance 990v4 (14 EE) I bought the same size/width in these. I will be returning these.

Fits fine, but top eyelet digs into inside of ankle on both boots. When I first tried them on felt fine, but when I wore them to work it was then that the problem came up. Painful and uncomfortable.

Purchased two pair (Brown & Black) about 2 years ago from a popular outdoor retailer. I've been fairly pleased with the boots as they have served their purpose "okay" for hiking here in New Mexico's southern desert. The three biggest issues are 1) not waterproof, 2) the rubber toe caps pulled away from the boot, 3) the tread wears too fast. Hiking up in the Organ mountains here when there is dew on the vegetation in the morning the boots start squish squashing with water after a few minutes. But I still recommend them as they still are comfortable for yard work.

These boots are great. They are extremely comfortable. But they couldn't survive Mt. Fuji.
Stitching on the left side of the right boot tore on the way down
