Flat footed I am -very active 41yr old and can only wear this model and make of shoe with out my inserts. I wish there were more color options but these do fine without looking like orthopedic granny shoes. They are a must for me and there is no "break in" time. These are my 3rd pair in the past 6years. They too fit small this the only shoe I have to size up 1/2 size. Zappos is excellent for price on these and if they don't work out-no cost to Return!

I have used Brooks for years as they are wide enough for my feet and do not allow my foot to pronate. They fit true to size for me and this darker blue color will not show the dirt as fast as I wear them every day.

Best running shoes. I pronate and have knee problems. The Ariel shoe has the best stability for me and I've been wearing them for 10 years. I've been refitted for running shoes by an expert recently and again the Ariel won. I just wish they came in fun colors or a new design. Boring but they work and that's what counts when running.

Like the cushion in the shoe, it feels so good! Yes it is narrower than the Ariel's I got 2 years ago. But it is not too wide. The cushion really helps my back.

I have bout maybe four other pairs of shoes for my problem feet recently trying to find a pair that did not crush my little toe and second little toe or cause friction and numbness from being cramped. I also have trouble with the tops of my toes rubbing inside the shoe and hurting on a lot of sneakers. These shoes fit the ticket! I wore them straight out of the box and all over New York City and outside of the city on trails and my feet stayed super comfortable. Also, my problem knee gave me less pain! No toe squishing or rubbing and good arch support for my very flat feet! They are nice and cushy too. I will buy them again! The only issue is that I needed half a size larger than my norm.

This is the most comfortable running shoe! I have plantar fasciitis so I have difficulty finding shoes that provide enough support and comfort, but these fit the bill. I am really happy with these and have worn them everyday since they arrived last week. I'm gonna need another pair!

These feel very comfortable especially since I've been experiencing a lot of ball of the foot pain and my toes have widened out. I bought the double wide and slipped my orthotics in them. Great fit and I am on my feet all day with over 12 hours in these sneakers. My feet are very happy today and my first day in them. I came back to the web site tonight to see if they come in a black color. I'm disappointed. In the near future, please make them in black, too.

I recently suffered three stress fractures on the top of my left foot an had to war a boot for 2 months. As soon as I was cleared to return to Jazzercize and Zumba, I asked my podiatrist/foot surgeon to recommend a good supportive athletic shoe. He said the only one I should even consider is the Brooks Ariel. I took his advice and just ordered my second pair! Gr4eat shoe. No foot problems at all.

These are the most comfortable, yet supportive shoes I have ever worn. I have fibromyalgia and have been wearing New Balance all of my life. I work as a Medical Assistant and so I am always on my feet. At the end of the day, the nerves in my leg would go crazy. Not with these shoes! I am amazed at how my legs and feet did not fatigue after a 10 hour day. I am in love with these shoes. I wish that they were not so expensive.

I have been ordering the Brooks Ariels for over 20 years because I am flatfooted and have over-pronation. Because of this they help with my feet, ankles, knees and back. They are on my "gift to me list" each year. As my foot swells each day, I would like a longer shoe lace or the option of buy one to match my shoes.

This shoe runs small (other reviews have stated). But otherwise this shoe is everything I was looking for to support my pronation. This is the 1st time to buy this brand. I will continue to purchase in the future.

Back in April, I was at my wit's end. The Asics shoes that I had long relied on were just not cutting it anymore, but I did not know what else to try. I read lots of reviews, and order lots of shoes from Zappos. No kidding, my living room looked like a shoe store for a few days. Thank goodness for free shipping and a very understanding UPS guy. I am dealing with plantar fasciitis, a heel spur, and a weak ankle due to multiple sprains. Eventually, I figured out that what I needed was a stability sneaker. It took a lot of searching, but I finally found the Brooks Ariel! These shoes are terrific. They have cushioning, arch support, and ankle support. I would not say that the arch support in these shoes is particularly high, but it does the job for me. I also appreciate the roomy toe box, so my toes do not get cramped and squished. After all my searching, I had it narrowed down to this one and the Saucony Stabil. The Stabil has even better ankle support, but is a little less roomy, and a little less cushy. I ended up keeping them both, but I find that I wear the Brooks more often. I wear the Saucony when I know I will be doing a lot of walking on uneven terrain. Warning - I thought the Brooks run small. I normally wear a 7, but I needed an 8 in these shoes.

I have found the Brooks Ariel to be one of the few shoes that fit my problem feet. I was thrilled to discover this color combination to add to my other two. I used to exclusively wear NB shoes, but they have changed every last to narrow the shoe box in some way to have simply given up on them. I hope the Ariel doesn't meet the same fate. For now I can say the Ariel offers great support, ample shoe box width and depth and all day comfort.

I have knee problems (arthritis, need bilateral knee replacements) lots of pain if I don't have a good supportive and cushioned shoe. I have bought the Brooks Addiction for several years. Just wanted a bit of a change in style and comfort. I love these! I was hesitant because of the reviews that said the toe box was not as wide and it was uncomfortable. I did not have issue with the toe box. I am a nurse and on my feet much of my 12 hour shift. The support is great, cushioning is great, shock absorption is great. Just about to order my second pair. Now if Brooks could just put this comfort in a stylish dress shoe.

This is a nice sneaker and comfortable, but I need to put my orthotic insert in, and the tongue does not move enough to allow easy insertion. I almost broke a nail, and my nails are short. Wow, that hurt. Only buy these sneakers if you don't use your own inserts.

Bought these for my mother who has advanced plantar fasciitis and wears orthotics and needs the different platform shoes. These are not only a very good looking shoe, she says that these are the most comfortable Brooks she has owned yet.

I love Brooks Ariels and have purchased several pairs in the past. The Ariel 14 does run narrow. I had to return the first pair for a "wide" -- these are the only shoes I have ever had to purchase a wide in!

Love this sneaker ! Normally I wear a size 9 in running sneakers and that's what fit perfectly in the ariels - loved the extra wide toe box for my wide forefeet! The heel is narrow which means no slippage! Brooks seems to be the only company that understands wide forefeet does NOT mean a wide heel :) insole is cushiony! Support is good...love the Ariel

This is the most comfortable pair of sneakers that I have had in many years. I have back, knee and foot problems but these shoes have been wonderful in helping stabilize my foot which in turn helps with my pain. I have worn the Addictions in the past but Brooks changed them. I cannot wear the new model. I decided to go for it and purchase the Ariel 14 after reading some reviews. Boy am I glad that I spent the extra money. I love these!

Love these shoes. I've been buying them for years, so I hope they don't discontinue the style. They are extremely comfortable and are deep enough to accommodate my orthotics.

I have a narrow foot and these shoes run narrow, which is rare. I needed to order one 1/2 size larger. They are comfortable. Seem to have good roll protection for my weak ankles.

I needed new shoes after a double knee replacement. I've worn the Brooks Ariel 12 for a couple of years. I had them in a size 8 WW. I always thought they were clunky and not very stylish. I ordered Brooks Ariel 14 in a size 9 WW based on reviews. I'm glad I went up a size larger. They fit well and my toes don't feel squished as some have reviewed. The color and detail are attractive.

I've bought pair after pair of Ariels. This new version feels the same as previous ones. I was skeptical about the new, darker colors at first, but I ended up liking them. Great shoe if you need a ton of support.

I ordered a less expensive running shoe, but had blisters and foot pain the first time in them. This is the 2nd pair of this shoe that I have owned. The extra cost is so worth it.
