We live on Chicago and winter gets brutal, so I bought my wife this coat and she absolutely loves it. It looks great on her too.

I just received this coat and love it. I ordered a large in black. I am 5'8, 150 lbs. I am a size 10 in clothes and usually a size 10/12 in coats. I am a little broader across the shoulders. The medium would have been too tight in the arms if I wanted to wear something bulky underneath. Otherwise, I did not find the arms too tight. The coat hits just above my knees. It is very comfortable, light weight and much more flattering than I expected. I like that the material is not shiny. The coat looks much better than in the picture shown.

Im in love with the Miss Metro! After 5 years of being devoted to my black Metropolis, I decided I needed a new puffer to get me through this next East Coast winter. I was really on the fence between the Metropolis and The Miss Metro but went with the Miss Metro because its nipped in more at the waist and is also SLIGHTLY longer in back. This combo gives a really flattering, feminine look that I believe can actually be dressed up more than the Metropolis. The fabric of the Charcoal Heather has a very textural look but is it matte unlike the shinier Metropolis. Runs true to size in my opinion, I'm 5'8'', 140lbs and went with Medium. The only thing I can say I wasn't too sure about it the silver logo on the sleeve but I don't think it will take me too long to get used to because its overall such a great coat. Go with this over the Metropolis if you want something a little more fitted!

Great for winter wear. It keeps you really warm. Style is great. I was little afraid that it was going to be little to long for my petite 5'3 frame but it wasn't. Only thing is that I think S-runs little bigger and XS runs too small.

I had an older North Face Metropolis parka which I was getting bored with color-wise so decided to buy a new Miss Metro in the navy color. Both were size Medium. The Miss Metro is a more flattering jacket on but that is because it is cut much slimmer in the body and in the arms. I used to be able to wear heavier-weight clothing under my Metropolis that will absolutely not fit under my Miss Metro. And the shoulders of the Miss Metro are sewn differently than the older Metropolis and do not allow for the same range of motion and freedom of movement as the Metropolis. The older Metropolis also used better 600 fill down as opposed to the 550 fill down of the Miss Metro. I sold my older Metropolis on eBay to fund the purchase of the new Miss Metro and now regret that decision as I believe the older Metropolis was a more wearable coat although not as flattering on as the Miss Metro. I will also note that the current Metropolis design has been changed compared to the old Metropolis and some of the same shortcomings I found with the Miss Metro apply to the current Metropolis. Sadly this appears to be the case of newer isn't always better. However in general I think the quality of North Face products are awesome. We have quite a few North Face jackets in my family. And even when worn a ton, they wash up well and will look great for a long time. They also hold their value well as I have been able to sell then for good prices on eBay or via Facebook groups. My old Metropolis was worn a ton but washed up well and still looked great. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a North Face product again.

I tried on several north face jackets. This one fit me in a size large which is true to what I usually wear. I disagree with the tight arms on this jacket - no problems here and I have broad shoulders and larger arms. This jacket is shaped more like a bell at the bottom giving it an a-line look and is more feminine that the NF Metropolis. It is also warmer than the NF metropolis...it has an addition liner later sewn in so its more wind proof. It's very light weight and comfortable. I'm happy with my purchase and expect to wear this for several years in cold Chicago.

My mom has been looking for a warm coat. I kept telling her my north face keeps so warm I even sweat. I finally convinced her when I bought her a new parka. She loves it and is now as warm as can be!

I recently just purchased this coat and let me tell you I am ready for winter! I am 5'5 and 125 and the small fits me perfectly, with or without a sweater. The coat hits my knees, a little longer than I had expected but I will be thankful for that when winter hits hard and my thighs stay covered! very very warm, but incredibly lightweight. The shape of the jacket almost curves at the waist which makes it feminine and flattering, instead of a boxy look. I love it!

My mom and I each bought this coat. It's perfect for cold Michigan winters, but light enough so when you go inside a store you're not sweating.

I recently ordered several coats in various styles and sizes. I am a shirt size XL, but I prefer to order up in outerwear for layering purposes. To my disappointment, this coat does not come in an XXL. However, had it fit, I would have loved it. I did not notice it being tighter in the arms as previously mentioned. It was much warmer and higher quality feeling than the North Face Metropolis. I ended up going with the Marmot Montreal.
I'd also recommend:
Marmot

I have never had a coat that was so warm! I love it. I look stylish without the bulky look of down coats with the warmth of down. I am so looking forward to the cold weather this year in Minneapolis!

I got the Medium size. The coat is not windproof, but I did not feel cold in below zero weather in windy days. The fabric is pretty decent and also light weight. The hood is a little small for me and does not cover all my head, but I still like it a lot. I search for my favorite coat in different places, and I found this one the best.

I purchased this latest metropolis rendition for my middle daughter who has moved back home to the lovely weather of Wisconsin. I know it will ensure she stays warm, especially important this year since Winter appears to have arrived without regard to the calendar. My oldest daughter was the recipient of one 2 years ago and my own black metropolis has been my Fall, Winter and Spring companion for 5 years , and still looks as good as it did on Day 1. It provides excellent warming without being weighty.

I just received and am overjoyed with this coat. If you knew how many coats I have ordered and returned in the last year looking for the perfect winter coat that wasn't too heavy, too overly designed with tacky doodads, fake fur, annoying logos, down leaking out excessively, too shiny, etc...you would understand how monumental that statement is. I've become the pickiest, most critical coat customer on the planet. If the tiniest fault was to be found, I surely would find it within the first two seconds of putting it on. So far, Wow. Five stars up front, and hopefully I will not find some fatal flaw with the quality over time, but it's a great start so far. Let me do a quick comparison for you of only TNF options currently on the market - Got the Gotham parka. Would have loved that, great fit, nice matte fabric, very true to size, only the bottom flared out like a massive bell which made me look quite ridiculous. On to the Metropolis. The black color I ordered had a shiny finish and this combined with the wrinkly texture made it look like I was wearing a Hefty bag. However, that also was a great fit and true to size...just wasn't sure I could get past the garbage bag aesthetic. On to the Transit parka which shed feathers everywhere, was lighter and thinner and not as warm as the Metropolis. True to size was its only positive. And then I finally broke down and decided to order the Miss Metro. Read many reviews of how the sleeves were too tight and it was too form fitting and that people were experiencing issues with the zipper. Not wanting to go through another episode of ordering and returning, I went to a store where they carried them. Naturally they were fresh out of size medium. The small was very tight and form fitting and the large was massive. I went home and took a chance on ordering this coat in a medium as I am a medium in many other TNF jackets and coats. Size 34D chest, 37 1/2 inch hip, round tummy, 5'4 ish, a average and moderately squishy 50 year old build, and I found the medium was a perfect, comfortable fit all the way through. It hits just below my knee. The arms were not the least bit tight. The shoulders were comfortable as well, no pulling or tension there. I tried it on with layers of a thinner to medium cable knit sweater and a tee shirt under that which is the basic thickness I usually wear. I hate bulky sweaters. So all the reviews about the tighter arms may be due to that. And I did not find any issues with the zipper sticking thus far. I also worried I would find the diamond pattern unflattering. I would prefer the chevron quilting, and I know they aren't around in TNF longer parkas this year, but I think this is the styling is much more flattering than all the others, without making me look too old (as the Transit parka with its unflattering diamond pattern did) or giving the appearance that I wanted to look younger than I am (as I thought the Metropolis did). An odd note about the sizing...the Metropolis is said to be roomier while the Miss Metro is supposedly a more form-fitting coat. The exact opposite seems to be true. I still didn't return the Metropolis yet. I tried on the Miss Metro and the Metropolis with the exact same under layers and there was actually more room in the Miss Metro across the hips and the middle than in the Metropolis, and the Metropolis looked too form fitting with two light layers on, while the Miss Metro looked exactly right and was super comfortable. And best of all, the matte fabric looked flattering on me and not in the least reminiscent of a Hefty bag. Finally, the hood fit over my whole head, not just the back half, as all the other TNF hoods seemed to do. I am just so pleased with this coat and after a year of searching for a minimally styled, lightweight but warm, well crafted coat -- have not tried in freezing temps as yet though I am sure it will be at least as warm or slightly warmer than the Metropolis -- I found a keeper at last.

It was a toss-up between this coat and the Metropolis parka, also made by TNF. I found the Miss Metro to be more fitted throughout the bust and waist, whereas the Metropolis was boxy/roomier in these areas. I normally wear a Small, but even the XS Metropolis did not fit me well. I think it depends on your body type and whether you plan to wear thick layers under the coat. My preference is the better fit of the Miss Metro, which also seemed to be a warmer coat than the Metropolis. I figured if I was going to spend that kind of money, get a coat that looks and feels just right. If you're stuck between the two, it doesn't hurt to order both and try them on to compare. Zappos returns couldn't be easier.

So warm and snuggly! I ordered the black color, though, and it almost looks navy... All the tags say TNF black but it looks navy in most lights. But it is still beautiful and warm!

Originally wanted to purchase the jacket online, and used the sizing application to determine the size I needed, however decided to double-check and try the jacket in stores. The sizing application suggested I select a small, however this was too small (extremely tight fit and uncomfortable under the arms). I chose a medium instead and am greatly satisfied! Great winter jacket! Definitely recommend this to all!

Sleeves are indeed too tight. I'm 5' 4" and 126 lbs. and ordered the Medium. Just adored the color (Dapple Grey - has a hint of lavender blue in it), and the length hit just above my knee, not higher as shown in the photo. Sleeves were tight with just a long sleeved shirt, and also there were no inner cuffs which felt cheap given the price. I compared this coat to a LOLE that I also ordered, and the LOLE was much better quality hands down. Since I love the color, I might exchange for a large and see how it fits; however, I think it will then be too long and I'll be swimming in it. Undecided and a bit disappointed in quality.

I've bought Miss Metro and Metropolis parkas for comparison. Miss Metro is not as shiny as Metropolis but it has more flattering fit and a more feminine design than Metropolis which is very light and very warm but it needs more under layers than Miss Metro for a windy day. I've read previous reviews that says that Miss Metro has tight sleeves. I measured the sleeves for comparison because I didn't feel any tightness in Miss Metro even my arms, let's say, are not skinny. Measurements showed: The two of them have the same cut and thickness. Miss Metro also noticeably warmer than Metropolis parka. Anyway, I still need to decide which one to keep - I love them both!
