This is one great bag! It's tough and indestructible. I bought the large and was surprised at how much I was able to fit into it. Several pairs of shirts and shorts, a couple sweatshirts, jeans, shoes, two large beach towels, laptop, toiletries and still had more room! Plenty of room for a trip of a week or more. I got the krypton green, love the bright color and it will stand out in baggage claim. Planning on some overseas trips and it will work great as well as camping trips. I'm going to get a matching small bag for a carry-on and overnight trips. My friend liked my bag so much I'm going to get her a couple as well in pink! At least we'll look great traveling with our North Face bags!

I bought this bag for an extended trip I was going to take in the Middle East; I thought "Oh, it's a 2 month trip, I guess I'll forgo the large, go straight to the XL, and pack for just a month". This bag could fit an infinite amount of months, with room to spare. Maybe I'm just a light packer, but this bag was waaaaaaay bigger than I predicted (I just used the image of all the sizes of the bags next to each other on the website for guessing its size, not dimension specs or anything else). Before I left I fit all the clothes I have plus half of my wife's clothes plus bedsheets (I used it to take to the laundromat). My only criticism for this bag was that there could be inside pockets on the sides. Other than that this bag has made my day.

I really think the bag is high quality but lacking some things I really dont understand why they are missing such as a the ability to lock the bag or normal carry straps. Otherwise great bag. I probably wouldnt buy another unless it had what its currently missing though

Great bag, simple, well built. Use it to transport and store clothing and gear when I travel for work. Name plate is in a good location, side pouch is a good size w/ mesh divider. Simple bag, which is exactly what I need. Only thing it is missing are carry handles, carrying this thing with one hand holding both backpack straps is ridiculous! PUT THE CARRY HANDLES BACK ON!

Multi day mule back (hard) carry without a tear or leakage of scent. Total mule days 3. Total expeditions 1 so far. To the Himalayas next year.

i have barely traveled, i traveled with my parents when i was a baby---that was until i got a fiance in the dominican republic about a year ago, the bag i use to travel now? this north face base camp duffel size small it is an AWESOME bag, i lasted about 2 weeks with this bag in an international country, -DURABLE, WATER REPELLANT/PROOF(NOT sure if its waterproof, although it seems like it) ONLY ISSUE- NORTH FACE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE INCLUDE A DUFFEL BAG STRAP WITH THESE BAGS, I WANT TO PURCHASE MORE SIZES BUT PLEASE INCLUDE A DUFFEL BAG STRAP i had to purchase an entirely new duffel bag strap from amazon after i received this with no duffel bag strap

Great storage capability, but very hard plastic material which makes the bag uncomfortable to carry on shoulder or as a backpack. In the picture the color appears to be peach/oraange. The bag is actually a true orange.

This bag is awesome. The design is great, end pocket is useful, and holds alot of space. For being a water proof large bag, it is lightweight. My only complaint is that I wish the 2 shoulder straps were removable or come with a larger shoulder strap.

That's my second one, I got the first one 6 years ago and it is still pretty steady. Now I got one more. This version is better than previous ones, but the main hustle is it not being as comfortable to carry as a backpack...so take that into account if you are planning a longer trip.

I use 2 different sizes (S & L) and I love them. Only in size S, I miss this end-cap zippered compartment recently introduced for the larger bags. If this is going to be avaible, I'll buy a new one and rate it with 5*.

Love the duffel line, own five bags of various sizes. Would like to see a buckle clip added to the backpack straps, for easy removal and access at airport and final destination.

As someone who lives international and travels for work and play the North Face Duffel bags are a must! Solid choice for durability, space, quality and comfort!

I have used the small duffle bag for extended trips. It holds a surprisingly big amount of things (full month in India and the small duffle bag was enough). It is really convenient too given the backpack straps. However, I am missing the "normal" carry straps on the L one. It is fairly heavy on its own I find but the seams are well set and it can withstand quite some bouncing around.

Love this bag. I initially purchased the medium size for a 3 week trip through Southern Spain. The shoulder straps were comfortable As a gym bag, I carry a complete change of clothes incl. shoes, my work laptop, and a windbreaker in the bag each day. There is plenty of room to spare- enough to double as a weekender bag (Or even a work week trip for consultants) Two small areas for improvement for the SMALL size - I would have liked to have sacrificed some room in the main compartment t expand the side pocket such that it carries the same dimensions of the side pocket of the medium sized duffel - I love that my northface backpacks have chest straps. This would solve issues where the shoulder straps sometimes slid off my shoulders.

great bag. sizing is perfect for me - can fit all the gear i need daily for Muay Thai / BJJ and also can use for a week long trip. feels comfortable on your back, looks awesome. only improvement i would make is make the bag more compartmentalized, with a larger separate top section like the Medium size North Face duffel

Perfect bag to take to the gym or as a carry on. Will be using anywhere from boating to business trips; large or small enough to fit my every need.

This bag is awesome. I use it to transport anything from clothing, to camping gear. It's never let me down. It's durable so I don't have to worry about wear and tear so much. It comes in different sizes and you can wear it like a backpack for more comfort with heavier loads. It's durability and texture allow you to have peace of mind that everything you put in it will be safe and dry.

fabric could probably use some breaking in so that the zipper is easier to use. once that happens, i think this bag will be perfect!

Overall, this is a really good bag. I like that it's waterproof and it can take a beating without getting beat up. It's really durable. And it comes in a wide range of colors. I use this for a gym bag to hold all of my weightlifting and power-lifting gear. I also will use it for weekend trips, etc. I would suggest two improvements to this bag. First, the straps could really use some work. Not the shoulder strap (that's fine), but the straps used to support the bag. They're REALLY flimsy and they twist too easily, which means you end up with a hard, thin, twisted cord instead of the wider strap that it should be. I'm always having to stop and untwist the straps, which is really annoying. That's how I discovered that the straps are not as easily adjustable as they should be for a bag at this price, which surprised me. The second recommendation I would make is to add another panel pocket inside the bag. My bag only has one small zipped pocket, and it's one the "lid" of the bag. I wish there was a second zipper panel inside along the sides somewhere because when I carry my bag (which is always full of gear) everything goes to the bottom of the bag. So when I need to find something, I have to pull everything out of the bag until I put my hand on what I'm looking for. Another inside pocket would make it much easier to organize the contents of the bag. Other than the sub-par straps and my desire for another pocket, it's a great bag that I think will hold up for a long time.

Bought this a Christmas gift to myself. Great look and love the material. Also like the backpack carry option. One thing I wish it had was handles to carry on top of the bag, which would make it a little easier to carry though airports. Other than that the bag is perfect.

Removing the top handle was a horrible idea. Especially for a bag built for packing heavy/bulky items. Using the side handles throws off balance. As durable as this quality bag is, there is a huge design flaw. If you then start carrying by the side handle, it does not evenly suspend the bag weight through vertical webbing that wraps side-to-bottom like most duffles do. This is excessively hard on the stitching, and actually suspends bag weight directly on the zipper of the top!

I bought one in Medium... way too big as carry on, can any one confirm if the S is carry on compatible? Thanks!

I bought this bag for my boyfriend for our trip to Colorado. The bag itself is awesome. Only one problem- the color. I ordered the depth green/venom yellow without realizing the color which I thought was graphite/black/navy was actually PURPLE. Maybe I'm just color blind but I thought it looked like a dark navy or gray. Whatever, I exchanged the bag at a local sporting goods store and the bag itself is great.

Looks like a great bag, strong and durabile. The only negative i can see is locking the bag. On the old bag, the zipps came together and you could put the lock through the 2 zipps, the new design does not allow this.
