I normally wear a regular width 6.5 or 7, I ordered these in a 7 wide because the insole is removable, and I had plans to switch it out with the Ugg insole sheepskin replacements for added warmth. I did this, and the fit was exactly as expected, and I could actually wear the wide without the Ugg insoles and just thick socks too. I am not sure how warm they would be, they seemed decent when I was trying them on but never took them outside of course. I sent these back because of the color. The picture looks like they are 2 tone, with the suede and nylon in contrasting colors (Cordovan/Siberia), but when I got them, they just look like the color varies slightly between the two materials, and it's a weird greenish brown. Not at all what I was looking for. If the color hadn't been ugly, I might have kept them.

I bought these boots to replace some old boots. I was very excited to get them because they look so nice. We have recently had cold and snowy weather in Chicago. These boots are NOT warm. My feet are freezing in them. It is better if I wear couple pairs of wool socks. I bought wide size and there is plenty of room for a lot of socks. The boots are very comfortable. They are very stylish. Traction on the snow is good. Today after scraping snow off my car for 15 minutes, my toes were numb. I'm a little disappointed because I thought the Columbia brand had a good reputation. I won't recommend or purchase Columbia again. My advice is buy big enough to be able to wear lots of thick socks.

The fit is perfect and the arch was high enough that it did not cause any problems. This boots feel amazing! They are comfortable, light weight and WARM. I received them just in time for the snow storm in NY and have been wearing them everyday since!

Wore them to work 2 days in a row, they were great! I work with children and they were comfortable, definitely would recommend. I did not slip and walked with confidence in the snow.

Once I found a size/width that fit my foot, I loved these boots. I am usually an 8.5/9 and have never ordered a shoe in wide before - I have a pretty narrow foot. I needed a snow boot that I could wear all day - these are perfect when you get the right combo. Definitely size up, the 8.5 made my toes curl and my pinkie toe feel like it shouldn't be there. I took a chance after reading the reviews on the wide option and am so glad I did. I wear these with a thin wool sock and my feet are comfortably warm all day - out in the snow or inside. Good traction, easy to get on and off. I would buy these again.

The boots are not totally waterproof; foot of boot permitted moisture to my socks. The "insulation" is extremely bad; wore boots in 30 degrees C and toes very cold.

Well, I was able to give them the full test today. So here goes: I normally wear an 8.5 but I buy size 9 so I can insert my orthotics. I don't have wide feet but I had a broken toe recently so I have been buying shoes in wides. So I bought a 9-wide and I'm glad I did. I read on here that you can remove the insole but I found that very difficult. So I gave it a shot and left their insoles in the boots and put my orthotics in on top of them. It actually worked perfectly, which is amazing. There was still a ton of room in the toe-box and their insole clearly doesn't have much of an arch because it didn't affect my orthotics. The boots are very comfortable and were easy to walk in. We had a ton of snow this weekend and yesterday we walked around on snow, plowed snow, compressed icy snow, and bare pavement. The boots were great on all of the above. My husband was slipping a bit but I wasn't slipping at all. I stepped through some slushy puddles without any water getting in. I didn't stand in them for any length of time so I can't really vouch fully for the waterproof-ness. My one complaint: My toes got cold. The outside temperature was about 18º-F, so boots this heavy and "insulated" should be keeping my feet warm. That was disappointing because it was my primary reason but buying the boots. I mean I wasn't ice cold but my toes were definitely cold. Other than that, they're nice looking and I like them.

So far so good through a first snow. Feet definitely toasty warm with and without socks. Didn't slip in the snow which is Paramount. I went a half size up to accommodate a thick sock and they were still comfortable.

I really liked these boots. They kept my feet completely dry trudging through the snow and were really light weight. I would say they are medium warm. With medium-thick wool socks, my toes were a little cold in the morning (around 20F), but once the outside temperature had warmed up to about 30, they were fine and I didn't feel the cold. I usually wear a 9/9.5 but I sized up to a 10 based on other reviews and to account for thicker socks, and they fit great.

I searched for a boot in wide width, and these boots stated they were wide. They are still a little too snug with socks, but not painful, so I am keeping them. I love the fact that they are waterproof, and they did keep me warm in 20 degree windy, snowy weather.

Stiff, cheaply made, very thin material and badly insulated. Zero arch support. Hefty, inflexible sole. Worst snow boots I've ever tried on.

Although I wear a size 10.5 wide, this size 11 worked out well because of the thicker socks that I'm wearing with the boot.

Purchased these Columbia Ice Maiden boots to replace a very old size 9 pair that had begun to hurt my feet. Women’s 9 1/2 medium have a nice roomy toe box! The half size up slipped a bit on the heel, and the arch support was in a sufficient for me - simple fix to add a Spenco Total Max Support insole (which I put in all the shoes/boots for walking & hiking). The lacing snugs up the fit as much or as little as I choose. The soft faux fur around the collar is comfortable - no rubbing. The height is good and the tread is aggressive enough for most any kind of snow conditions. Nothing is slip proof on solid ice. I think these boots look nice - the upper has a quilted appearance and the lower has a suede-like look. Ice Maiden is advertised as water resistant. I’ve used a silicone spray on them. Very pleased with Columbia Ice Maiden boots. As always, Zappos orders are fulfilled accurately and shipped promptly. Thank you!

LOVE these boots! Feet stay warm without getting overheated. They are like walking on little pillows. I forget I’m wearing shoes because they are so comfy. I did order a half size up, an 8 instead of 7.5.

Finally, a pair of quality snow boots that I can get my high arch & instep into! Love that the gusset under the lacing is sewn to about 4" up, so no wet feet. I think they will be warm, too.

I have hallux rigidus, so I need a stiff sole and the ability to insert my orthotics. I am also accident prone, so I need good tread on the sole to ensure I don't break my tailbone on the ice (again). And, I walk my dog daily, even in the coldest conditions of Ohio, so I need warmth. This boot delivers on all three requirements. I did buy a half size larger than my usual size just to ensure I could use my custom inserts and that there would be no pinching for the long dog walks. They're a little roomy but very comfortable, warm, and stable. No rubbing on my ankles, either, which has been a problem for me with snow boots in the past. Are they the absolute cutest boots ever? No. But the comfort and functionality win out.
