These do not appear to be, nor do they indicate “soft footbed” on the sandal or on the Birkenstock box.

The reason I gave 3 stars was because they weren’t in original box and tissue and they had been worn. I was giving them as a gift. So I returned them and reordered a new pair. If they come back that way again I will order from Birkenstock.

I love the soft footbed Birks, however, these vintage roast leather are NOT SOFT FOOTBED! They are regular ones. They dont feel soft, and they don't say they are soft on the footbed either.

I wanted to love these, but these are narrower than other Birks I’ve had. just were a bit uncomfortable on the outside sole because it was raised a tad bit too high and over-cradled my foot. I have medium width feet. Sad I had to return them!

As I sort of expected with the 1st wear on a short outing to the supermarket, I was injured by the shoe at the area of my right upper medial foot from the upper strap causing a skin blister with scant bleeding. I applied mole skin to the actual shoe strap, and ointment to my wound as an aid to prevent scaring. Then no wearing of the shoes for ~ 2-weeks to achieve proper wound healing. I can only hope the mole skin will do its job with my next wear.

I love these but the stiffness of the new leather just made them rub in some places. I know if I was patient they would break in but these days shoes have to fit right out of the box or they go back. I know my feet are the problem not the shoe because one side was great and the other not so much.

Fit and size were great, but leather was shiny, not soft, as they appear in the pictures.

The size and fit are the way a Birkenstock should fit. The soles of Birks are smooth, shiny, man-made and seemed like they'd have the potential of being slippery. Can't risk it. Returning.

Wanted to love this sandal but, back leather loop was bit too hard and the edge was rubbing against my skin. Some people might just keep wearing them to a point to break them and get comfortable with it. Soft footbed was nice.

Let's title this review "The Backstrap Problem." As others have noted, though this is a great sandal and gives every indication of being comfortable and durable, the back strap is just too short. I -think- I may have enough room on the strap leather for my cobbler to make an extra hole there...but I'm not sure, and for this price, I don't want to mess around with it. It's too bad, because this sandal is great in every other way. As some have noted, the Amalfi leather is stiff, but I'm sure it would soften with time. In the dark brown, it's very handsome. Slightly shiny, just polished looking, maybe a little more sophisticated than your average suede or oiled-leather Birk upper (not that there's anything wrong with those). Just thinking how great these would look with loose linen trousers. Still, that backstrap! Birkenstock, please take note! Just make the strap 1 inch longer with an extra hole or two. PS I am a woman with smallish bones, not a big ole dude, I don't even know how the average guy could buckle this backstrap without having it be way too tight.

Did not care for this Birki with the heel strap, too much bother having to find the right adjustment to fit your foot then would have to do and un do the strap each time. Not for me. Cute style though.

Like the Yard, this shoe was a full size larger than my 36 Arizona (which I kept). Not sure what the deal is?

Unfortunately, I could not wear these. They do not conform to the odd shape of my feet! Disappointed!

Was not thrilled with these sandles. The left sandle gave me a large blister the first two days I wore them. Mole skin and bandages are dealing with the issue, but for what you pay for these sandles, would not think that wiuld be a problem.

As Birkenstock's are, they are supposed to fit, to where there is approximately 1/3 inches of space in-front of your big toe. I usually wear 11.5-12 US shoes, and for Birk's size 44 EU works perfectly for my moderately wide foot. However the model I received was not the soft footbed, it was a standard foot bed, even though, it was stated in the zappos product page. Because of this I had to return the sandals

This was one of the biggest disappointments of my shoe ordering life. I so wanted to love these shoes But while the fit was okay, I could not take one step in them. The leather was so stiff that it felt as if a knife was cutting into my feett. There was no way that I would be able to break these shoes in - and, should have to? Shoes should not need a breaking in period. They should be comfortable - and wearable from the get go. These leather so stiff that it was near impossible to adjust the buckle ! Obviously these are going back. What a disappointment! The shoes have to go back as they are unwearable.

My husbands got blisters from the stiff leather on these sandals. I have several pair of Birkenstock’s for myself and all are very comfortable and last forever. Disappointed that he didn’t have same Experience w this style. The leather doesn’t give and is very rigid.

Received these yesterday, and they're on their way back today. I'm so disappointed. I have a pair of these that have to be 25 years old that were soft and comfortable from day 1. Not these! The leather is stiff as a board. The back strap rubbed the back of my ankle, no matter how I adjusted it. No doubt it would have caused major blisters had I worn them very long. It was painful after just a couple of minutes. Come on Birkenstock, as someone who owns at least twenty pairs of your sandals I expected more from you.

I sent back the first pair of these Zappo's sent me as I thought they had sent black instead of brown. When the replacement pair was the same color, I was finally able to find lighting in which they looked brown, not black. They are that dark. The label on the end of the box says "Amalfi testa di moro." Google translates "testa di moro" from Italian as "brown", but as "moro" means "dark", I suspect is means "dark brown". The Amalfi leather is very stiff. I sent back the second pair because I wanted something a little softer and of lighter color.

I found the amalfi leather stiff and not flexible and after taking only a few steps. the backstrap was digging into my ankles. Since this is described as a unisex sandal, in my opinion, maybe it fits men or women with thick ankles and not my skinny ankles. Thanks for the great service Zappos!

I returned these because the leather felt to plastic-y and the straps were not comfortable. Ended up going with the oiled leather and regular footbed and was much happier.

So disappointed that these have stiff straps that actually cut into the tops of my feet. The foot bed across the front is too tapered for my squarish toes. Since I love my ancient two strap patent leather Birki's I'd hoped to find a similar style with a strap for the heel. Why don't they make this shoe (the Milano) for a woman's foot, in longer lengths (like up to a size 11), and in two widths to and with soft straps?

These sandals did not have a soft footbed, which was why I bought them. Also, these "Faded Khaki Oiled Leather" sandals, though new, came in a replacement box with a note that the box was damaged in transit. While I understand that "faded khaki" can be a bit varied in color, the leather looked like it had been abraded somewhat. Definitely not what I was expecting from the picture.

I ordered the Soft Footbed, and was sent the regular footbed. Have to return this pair of shoes, and there are no more left in my size.
