The quality of the beanie is great, just thick enough to keep warm without being too warm... until it pops out of your head.
It is also not very large and my head size is about the lower bound of L-XL Arc'teryx sizing for other hats and will rise up my head every time I move my head up (like when going up a mountain). It will eventually fall off if I do not frequently pull it down. The beanie is not very deep and just barely cover my ears which exacerbate that issue as the ears are quickly become not covered and I need to pull it down very often. So much that I stopped using it.
Make sure to try it actively to ensure it will fit and stays on your head, as just putting on your head might look fine, but won't be during your activity.

I was looking for a thin toque to wear under helmets and during shoulder season. I like the colour ('enigma') and fabric, and I ordered the L-XL but it was smaller than expected (didn't reach partway down my ears, was more like a surgeon's cap that sits above the ears). I would have returned it but it fits my partner. If you have a large head, don't get this!

It's shaped a little like a cone so it creeps up above your ears a while after putting it on. I had a smart wool that was similar but it was warmer and stayed put. I'm assuming it functions as intended but not what I bought it for (under a hardhat in the winter).

The hat barely covers my ears. Nice material though.

My favorite beanie, It only lasts me a couple of months wearing before the elasticity is gone and I throw it out. For the price I expect more.

It fits in your fist, highly packable. Warm for it's weight and very light. The only problem is that it covers only half of my ear/s. It annoys me to constantly pull it over the ears. My head size is 59cm so it's normal I guess. Beacuse of the wool material I wear it all year round.

It is/was one of my favorite beanies because I like fit, functionality, color and characteristics of the material. BUT.... after only two years of use the beanie is useless today because it is so loose and baggy that I can't wear it any more on my bike or in windy conditions. I think the problem is the elastane (5%) that probably dissolves over time. It's sad because it is quite expensive and is a good product apart from that. I compared mine to a new one in a shop nearby to check if maybe my head shrinked...nope. It's the beanie. Huge difference in tightness and fit after only two years. Check the photo for comparison.
@Arc'teryx: Did you improve the material or do you still use the same fabric?

I bought this because it was the first merino wool beanie / toque I could find which had a clean cut. I had two colours (black and a olive green). Synthetic beanies were cold and didn't warm your head on really cold days. And typical toques were just too bulky. I would wear this a lot during the cold month until it started to rip and tear apart. I would sew it up again but it got to the point it was unwearable. I would recommend their competition merino wool beanies which has last me twice as long and are double ply layers.

My head isn't abnormally large. But this hat was barely fitting on me. I'm also bald and just barely covered my ears. I gave it to my 10 year old son. Fits him much better.
