I'm surprised about all the rave reviews for these boots. I have two pairs of Fryes, one pair that I bought two years ago and one pair that I bought years before that, and these Melissas come nowhere near the quality of my other pairs. The leather is thin, the boots have no traction on the bottom, and the style isn't flattering. No way are these worth the money. I returned them immediately. I think Frye quality has suffered lately.

I was pumped to receive these super fast from Zappos. I wear 8.5 in everything but runners which is 9; my feet are regular width and I have narrow ankles and calves, but I have super high arches. I couldn't pull either the 8.5 or 9s on AT ALL. I think that even if I had greased my feet there was NO way I could pull them on. I've never had this problem before in any boot I tried. Daunted, I returned them and had great success with the Harness in an 8.5 a very short time later.

Ordered Black Vintage Leather and the colour was actually mottled with splotches of grey. Very disappointing given the photo doesn't show any colour variation. Also, I'm a pretty standard size 8 and have no problem fitting my feet/calves into boots, but I couldn't actually get the shoe on. It seemed like it was a footbed width issue (not the calves) but it was so small I couldn't tell for sure. Disappointing because this was to be my first pair of Frye boots, and the actual style is exactly what I was looking for.

I am horrified that this boot has such amazing reviews. I never review because I have a difficult time with shoes due to my low volume but long feet and I am used to shoes not fitting well. I was hoping buying better quality would help and the fact that these had so many good reviews was encouraging. However, I have normal to narrow width feet and these are the narrowest boots I have found compared to the size (being a 9). I don't think going up in size would help because it would take too many sizes up to be comfortable enough to walk in them. Same thing with taking them to a cobbler - it's so drastically narrow I don't think they could do enough and I can't afford to throw this much money down the drain. Sigh - another return. Thank goodness for Zappos shipping policy or otherwise I might just give up on a new pair of boots after this very disappointing experience. Again - I have long, skinny feet and a person would have to have extremely freakishly long narrow feet to fit these. I just don't get how so many people love these unless their feet are so short they only go halfway down the shoe. Too bad - they are gorgeous shoes.

So sad. These boots are gorgeous. The leather is heavenly and glossy and smells amazing. I have 3 other Frye boots but never have been able to get into a pair of tall boots that fit my calves. These are snug -- though they are "extended". I wish they had a little insert of elastine or a panel that would give just a little more room. I can wear them with tights but not with jeans -- that is my wish. I can only rate a 1 since the main idea is these should be extended!

The 5½ was too small, that was the size that I wore in my previous Frye boots. I ordered a fawn color but what I received was more of a brown - like my other, old boots. As to the width, I do not really know as I could not get my feet down to the bottom of the boots.

What a disappointment from FRYE! These boots look like someone sprayed them with dusting powder. Frye quality really is going downhill. These look cheap and terrible.

Love how these look but I had to return them because they wouldn't fit over my calves. I don't think I have particularly large calves either (never had trouble with other boots) and I'm surprised to see the reviews saying it runs wide in that area.

Awful boots! I have had the stitching come loose twice on these! This is way too much to spend on boots that fall apart.

Unfortunately mine had a major flaw: it felt like I was stepping on a rod on my right boot only, and the boot rocked. So uncomfortable. Also, I was so disappointed to discover they are made in Mexico. I mistakenly thought they were still made in the US. Hefty price tag for a made in Mexico boot in my opinion. Obviously, I sent them back. But they were cute!
