I know others say these fit beautifully, but I have a high instep and cannot get boot over my foot. Lovely boot, too bad I need to return the size up from normal size I wear as well. Think I need a zippered boot when it comes to Frye boots.

I found that of all the Frye boots I've tried, this one (for me) fit the worse. I wear an 8 in the Carson and a 7.5 in the harness, these fit way too tight in the 8 and I order the 8.5 and they did not feel much different. There is no arch support and I had an awful time trying to get these on my feet. Also, once I finally did get them on, my right foot felt like these was something behind my heel and the leather in side the boot slid behind my heel and felt like a lump until I had to stick my hand in and adjust it! Not for me. I have a high arch, maybe that's why? Anyway, the boot looks nice, but did not work for me.

Loved the boot online, but the calf and ankle definitely ran wide. The boot didn't taper at the bottom and, as a result, they made my calves look too big. I would recommend this boot to those who have larger calves and don't want to sacrifice style for comfort. With Frye boots, you get both!

Nice boots. But they were too large around ankles and a bit snug in the calves. Too much money to not love all of them.

I read the reviews for this boot and I ordered a half size down which I'm glad I did because the boots definitely run small. I would say a 1/2 to full size smaller than average. I gave the boot 3 stars overall b/c while I love this boot I cannot reiterate enough how impossible it is to get it on. It does stretch and get easier with time but it is truly no small feat getting these boots on. I just refuse to give up!

Uhm, I was on the fence about these boots, because I was not sure if I wanted to "break them in." They are difficult to put on. However, as I was walking around the room, I slipped on the quite slippery sole. The boots were returned because they are too expensive to have the headache of breaking them in and worrying about falling. I wonder why Frye did not think about the hassle of the slippery sole.

I've wanted to get a pair of Frye boots for a long time, but couldn't decide on which style. The classic look of these finally won me over, and I'm glad I took (the costly) plunge. The leather is extremely soft, inside and out, and the padded foot bed is extremely comfortable. I can see myself wearing these for many winters to come. The calf area is just the perfect amount of snug, they help hold pants down if I tuck them in, and I can still wear leggings, socks, tights, etc comfortably underneath. My number one warning to those considering buying these boots is that you are going to have to spend more money to get them resoled immediately. The leather bottoms are extremely slippery and the rubber heel part does nothing. If you aren't prepared to spend more on these boots, do not buy them. You can not wear them with the soles as is or you'll be slipping all over even if the surface is not wet or is rough. I'm not sure why Frye makes them with the leather soles; they get scratched up immediately, but it does nothing to help with traction. I also recommend buying the Frye cream to condition them. It works great on other leather shoes as well.

I took the advice of another reviewer and ordered a half size smaller. They fit! However, they were extremely hard to get on. I took the advice of another reviewer and put plastic baggies over my feet to pull the boot on. Once they are on, they are very comfortable. They were a little snug in the width. Recommend a wider size if you have wide feet. But, I just don\'t like the way they look. The toe is discolored to make it look worn. I don\'t like that. They are not very flattering on me. They don\'t have that slimming effect like my other boots. Maybe it\'s the v-shape top. For me to spend this much money, they would have to be perfect, so I am returning them.

These are beautiful and well made. I ordered the black, and ultimately returned them only because I thought they would look better in the burgundy color. They are great "equestrian" style boots. So if that's what you're looking for, then order these. Oh, and they were a bit too tall for my leg and went all the way up to my knee. I am 5'3".

I love the look of these boots. I was so excited when they came but very disappointed in how they fit. I have skinny legs and narrow feet and I had to struggle to get my foot in the boots!

This is a beautiful boot (I got the color Fawn, which is essentially medium brown with grayish and greenish undertones), but it is not comfortable for me. Length and width wise, it was true to size. However, I had a terrible time getting the boot on because I have a moderately high instep. I put a plastic bag over my foot and was able to get the boot on, then tear the bag away. The main fit problem occurred when I began walking. The heel is situated on the boot so that it puts pressure painfully and awkwardly on the bottom of my foot between the outside edge of my foot past the heel. I have never felt that issue before. I think that if I wore the boots, the heel may wear down and eventually be comfortable, but I am returning them. Too expensive not to have a perfect fit and be difficult to put on.

I have big feet (11) and what I would consider average calves. These boots were way too big for my legs, even with jeans tucked in. As for the style, I think it's just okay. I don't like how the shaft dips down on the front of the leg. I don't think it's flattering and made my legs a little more stumpy. I much prefer the Frye Chelsea for a sleek and classic look.

These boots are beautiful, and of excellent quality. Unfortunately, they didn't fit. I'm usually a 9 and the 9 seemed to slip off my heel to much...so I exchanged for an 8.5, can't even pull them on! I'm so bummed...the cute boot hunt continues!

I have been lusting after a pair of Frye boots for forever and finally ordered these last week. So sad when they arrived and I found that they aren't wide enough for my calves...which is extra sad because I do not have large calves at all. I could just get the boots on but there is no way I could have worn them over jeans. The foot portion fit just fine (I'm a size 8) so I couldn't go up a size in the hopes of getting a bigger calf circumference. I didn't want to take a risk on stretching them, in case they didn't stretch enough. So they're going back.

Was surprised how very wide the calf is! I am a runner with quite developed calves and I had about 2 inch gap! The boot was quite narrow in the ankle and difficult to get on with a very pronounced fold on the seam that rubs uncomfortably. Surprised at the poor fit from such a reputable company. Disappointed that I had to return.

I have had my eye on these boots for two years! I had ordered them from an alternate provider and, due to weather, the boots would not arrive by the date I needed them. Therefore, I ordered them from Zappos VIP. The service was amazing and next day delivery FREE! However, the boots themselves appear like Frye outlet products. I understand that genuine leather may have color and texture differences from boot to boot BUT mine were a completely different color on the foot portion compared to the shaft. The shaft is also very "weathered" looking. Not at all like the picture. The other pair of identical boots I ordered arrived and were just as I had hoped and one color and one texture, beautiful! Unfortunately, I had already worn the Zappos pair with the hope they would wear in to be one color. It has improved but still appears two tone. I will not order Frye boots from this seller again.

I've been dying for these boots but was disappointed. The brown vintage was lovely. The problem for me was the ankles. I understand they need to be wider in order to slide your foot into them, however, the calf width didn't increase with it so the boots looked tight in the calf and extremely baggy at the ankles. Not the look I was going for so I had to send them back. Beautiful boots for someone with larger ankles and smaller calves I suppose. Slid them on with a produce bag and slipped right on.

I love this boot. I am sad to have to return it. I ordered a size 10. It seems to me a 10 is very tight in this boot. I first tried it on with a sock couldn't get it to zip up. Took off the sock and it zipped. If I cannot wear a sock with this boot, I had to return it. It's a wonderful looking boot. I am so sad that I cannot keep it.

These boots were a no for me...reasons being the leather was not impressive for a Frye boot..distressed yes but some areas very shiny and the leather was pretty thin in my opinion. Seemed shorter than other Frye tall boots.. Comfort level wasn't really there either..I have been trying several Frye boots lately and so far I'm really leaning towards the Jenna Studded Tall.

I love this boot but unfortunately I think that it has gotten so popular that the quality as gone down. I ordered the same boot 3 times. Zappos customer services is perfect! The boot however is not. Each time there were some serious defects with them. The first pair had bubbles inside the boot, so the leather was separating and had huge scratches. I did call Frye directly and they told me that the inside should not have any bubbles or air pockets. With the second pair, the nails on the bottom of the boot where sticking out and the leather on the inside was separating. I hoped the last pair I got would be the charm but not my luck. One boot was great. I wish the other was but the stitching on the inside pushed threw to the leather on the outside and made an impression all the way around the boot. The shaft looked like it had a half inch ring around it. Also one tab was sewn wrong so the leather was messed up. Hopefully Frye will look at their quality control and get back to making a quality product. I'm totally disappointed. I love these boots. For sizing, I am a true 7.5 and ordered a 7.5 and they fit great. I tried them with thin socks but if I wanted thicker socks they would have been way to snug. I ordered the black vintage soft leather.

I disagree with a lot of the reviews for this boot. Though the leather is amazing and clearly the Frye brand speaks for itself, I find these boots incredibly uncomfortable. I have average width feet and they rub both my big toe and my little toe. The slip in the shoe bed (despite all my efforts to prevent slippage). And, they are really hard to get on and off (and I have small calves). I've had them for two years and have only worn them 5 times. I wish I could sell them or something to get something else. They take up too much space in my closet.

I am very disappointed in the quality of these boots. I have had two pairs where the stitching has come apart. For the price I would expect better quality. Otherwise, the boots are very comfortable and stylish.

Despite the rave reviews, I did not like this boot for the following reason: I thought the leather was cheap compared to my other Frye boots. The color tan was a bit too yellow for me. The style was cute and with effort I could get my feet in them, but overall I was disappointed in this style.
