As a weekend ice climber and some-time alpine climber, I have a lot of Arc'teryx gear. And one of the best investments I ever made early on was getting a hard-shell jacket. What I had hoped for though was to have something that was warm like a down coat, wind and moisture proof like a shell, but chic enough so I don't look like a dirt bag ice climber full of layers when out on town. Enter the Therme parka - it is everything I had hoped for and I write this as temperatures plummeted down to minus 30 with the windchill here in Ottawa today.
I was apprehensive a little bit when purchasing this given that Arc'teryx zippers tend to be a little bit iffy and I would say this still stays true on this parka. But apart from that, I can easily say it's the best winter jacket for the city I have ever owned.
I usually wear a M, the S is perfect so be aware that it runs a bit large so size down. Awesome jacket

Feeling obliged to write one as I have been a long time fan of Arc"teryx gear.
It was a gamble. Haven't had to wear a jacket like this for many years but now live in Norway and the weather just demands something like this as a minimum. I am impressed, though I wish these things were less expensive.
Initially some difficulty getting use to the zippers as the lower one may be prone to ripping out if you are not careful when you sit or squat.
After two + months wearing it in all sorts of weather every day, no complaints.

Warm, non-descript, high quality, this parka has been excellent throughout the year I've used it. It weathered -40C with gusting winds extremely well and had a great look. This is warmer than any other parka I've tried on. The insulation is perfect to keep heat in and away from the wind, rain, sleet, and snow.
Personally, this is a great jacket and no one really knows what it is so it's unlikely to get stolen.

can't believe I waited so long to get it and would consider getting more as the need arises and have recommended to family and friends.

Great winter jacket for those who don't want to look like fluorescent marshmallow men while commuting to work and classes. I'm 5'11" 180 pounds with a 34 waist and I purchased a size medium which fits me well with plenty of room to layer.

I love this jacket. I have 2 issues. The hoody ha an elastic cord but it has NOTHING to keep the cord in place, you know, those plastic things that clamp the cord down... NOTHING. The napoleon bag could be a bit larger. Other than that, the jacket looks amazing and is very warm.

Great parka for cold winters and even wet snow with the Gore-Tex outter material. Parka is very simple but that's the best thing about it. Sizing is great and enough room for an extra sweater underneath if you want added warmth.

You live in a city like Boston. Weather swings and suddenly it's 12" of snow. You toss on your Therme Parka. You do your best Lieutenant Dan impression and scream to the sky "COME AND GET MEEEEE"
Jacket fits super well, is insanely warm (t-shirt underneath walking around in 40 F weather), can go from city to mountain.
This is the only jacket you need this winter.

Bomb proof. Love the design, style, and love love love the warmth. Chicago -0 temps and wind don't even register under this. I've walked dog, blown snow, and simply went out for a stroll to show off in this thing when it was sub zero. Not sure about other reviews saying hood is weird, I love mine and it only adds warmth. Hands down the best winter clothing item I've ever owned.
I'm 5'9, 170 and it absolutely covers a good portion of thigh as well which is a huge bonus. If there is a drawback, for shorter guys, the zipper is going to get a little tested when you sit because of the length, but that's really a good thing when it's freezing!

Pretty amazing jacket.
The combination of technology and craftsmanship is executed with precision and style. Remarkably light and well-engineered, the Therme Parka is a worthwhile alternative without being assimilated. Ottawa weather can be extreme at times needing the occasional mid lay to beef things up, however, the majority of the season is well managed while maintaining comfort during brief stints indoors or in vehicles.
Given freezing rain, blizzard's, flurries, squall's, whatever sub-zero precipitation, the Therme performs as advertised allowing ongoing protection from foul weather.
There is no "silver bullet" solution to managing cold weather; Therme offers the greatest versatility, styling and features that deal with the majority of foul weather here in Ottawa. Utilizing a mid-layer for extreme cold snaps is far more practical than overheating during the rest of the season.

This coat is immensely warm, it has a great pocket/storage configuration and looks great in casual wear and office wear. The coat lives up to its gore-tex expectation of total waterproof and wind proof- ness and did I mention it was really warm?

Perfect for the Winnipeg Winter. This coat passes the -40 degree Celsius test with flying colours.....perfect combination of gortex, down, and core loft to battle the snow, wind, and cold.......and if more warmth is required the Atom light hood
layers perfectly with this coat....Great Jacket Arcteryx.....Thanx!!!!

Great Parka, wore it only around 0 degrees Celsius kept me very warm and waterproof. I am 183 cm and 73 kg and S fits me great in arms length and I prefer to wear it bit tighter rather than lose.

I was skeptical at first a bit because the jacket is visibly thinner than most of the jackets on the market. After learning it's 750 down, I was still a bit worried but went for it - and it was a good decision.
Today it's extreme cold weather alert in Toronto and the jacket doesn't even flinch. My legs are freezing off in jeans but my upper body is running room temperature, it's perfect. The best part is that I stopped wearing gloves entirely because the comfortably placed hand pockets are keeping my hands warm.
I did see in the reviews that people experienced feathers coming out, I've seen 2 since I bought it a month ago. This is unexpected so early but not a big deal. My only con against the jacket is that when it's snowing, the hood doesn't protrude long enough to stop it from snowing into your neck if you're not wearing a scarf. Lesson: wear a scarf lol... The color isn't true black, more like a really dark grey but it still looks great. The external chest pocket for your phone is fantastic. I'd love to have an extra, small pocket on the arm for the FOB I use to get in to work but that's a nice to have.
Otherwise, awesome choice.

Unbelievably warm. It's like wearing a person-sized house. Much cleaner-looking and with more refined detailing than the Canada Goose parka everybody has. Runs a little large. I'm 6'2" 165lbs and a small fits me perfectly. Every other Arcteryx garment I've purchased is a size medium. My only suggestion would be to make the hood a little more snug on the sides. When the wind blows directly at you, you need a neck gator or scarf to prevent cold air from leaking down into the body of the coat.
