I bought this coat for my husband. Even at -23 with the wind blowing he says he stays warm. I tend to believe him because I've owned an arcteryx coat for over 4 years and it still keeps me warm in these cold Alaska temps. Best coat purchase ever made!

Was torn between Camosun and Therme. In the end I opted for the latter. Maybe I would be just as happy with the former, can't say. But, I got the Nerus (Blue) and not available in the Camosun. And the color is great. I am 5'9, 180, but a 44 chest. Large definitely correct size. It fits great, and looks really good. I am in Chicago. It has been a very warm winter so far. But the first test was Saturday. Though the temp was not very cold (between 27 and 30), the wind was blowing about 40 - 50 mph (measured, no exaggeration). It was precipitating, a mixture of snow, freezing rain, feeling like icicles piercing my face). I went for a walk with my dog to the lakefront to see the 20 foot waves. Just a cotton long sleeve t-shirt underneath. I was toasty. Did not feel one bit of wind or rain. Hood was up over my hat. The only part of me feeling any weather was the exposed part of my face above the coats color, basically my cheeks and nose. Stayed dry throughout. And while it's next test will be this coming weekend when temp is predicted to be between 2 and 12 f, based on last weekend, I foresee this being the nicest, warmest coat I have ever had (I am now 65, so I have had a lot).

I have several Arc'teryx jackets for use in environments ranging from the unpredictable British climate to Icelandic winters. This was my first luxury purchase of an Arc'teryx jacket from the lifestyle range. This was purchased for the reason it was designed - the winter city commute (by foot) including all the winter weather that can be experienced while travelling in Reykjavik.
I can understand all the comments in other reviews but for me, all is good with this jacket. The pockets are nicely sized and provide protection from the weather. Some comment on a lack of insulation but I think they are fine. If cold, I will wear gloves and the pockets are still a perfect size. I find the hood provides excellent protection when you want to be fully protected from wind/rain/snow. For me, this outweighs any perceived issues with bulk that others have described. The chest pocket (external) is perfect for a phone and the internal chest pocket will take a wallet. The double zip is perfect for flexibility. Keeps the top weatherproof while allowing extra movement if you unzip the bottom (stairs/sitting etc).
Some have commented on the lack of double zip on the Camosun parka but that is a shorter jacket. There is no chest pocket (external) on the Camosun and the removable hood seemed less protective to me. I chewed over the two coats but went for the Therme. The Camosun has the appeal of a neat cut but the below key features influenced my decision.
Key features: double zip, internal/external chest pocket, slim hand pockets, good winter length, relaxed fit (I take medium) allows flexibility with layering, strong sense of quality urban winter jacket with Arc'teryx premium weather security.
I also have to say I emailed Arc'teryx several times when making my decision. The customer service was extremely efficient with fast replies to my questions. It is worth noting that when customers are deliberating, fast replies to queries are extremely appreciated and help reinforce the decision to pay premium prices for top quality products.

They run a wee bit big (I'm a medium almost all of the time, and wholly a medium in Patagonia's sizing, but with this parka and my arcteryx shell I'm a small).
Anyway, the compliments just keep coming with this jacket. It's warm it's gore-Tex it's my go-to baby boy now. Perfect for bike commutes when ya don't know what kind of precip you'll get. Could definitely schuss in this bad boy too.

Great construction. Keeps the wind out around the neck and waist. Effective insulation. Nice style. Great for everyday use when my heart rate is normal, and I'm not producing extra body heat. Nice when damp cold air is blowing off of Lake Ontario. It'll be great whenever I'm visiting the Rockies! I love this parka!
I'm 6'2" 215 lbs. athletic/weight training build. Size Large fits nicely with room for layers if necessary. (I wear one extra layer over a shirt.)

I have this jacket for a week in winter Vancouver, BC. I bus/skytrain to work, it is enough for walk on street.
The desire is good looking, especial has extra small size option.
there are a couple things can be improved,
1. the hand pocket is shallow even consider I have small hands. The up inside pocket is shallow too, only good for small wallet, not a boarding pass as mentioned and both in/out up pocket is not offset and caused contents stack.
2. the collar is too high which covers my mouth, this maybe my own preference.

I'm 5'10, 160lbs, athletically built and a small fits perfectly. For me the side pockets sit at the perfect height, as if you're holding on to your belt buckle like a wild west lawman.

Really nice warm parka. Perfect for snowy days, great for near to 0 rainy days.
Just one problem: after reading sizing reviews i bought a Black S online and now i realize i would be much more well fitted in a size M.
(i would be willing to exchange it for the same in M)

I can't exactly say I test this jacket to its limits, I live in London. But I can say it doesn't look out of place in the city or on a hike. Keeps me warm through Autumn and Winter.
Before purchasing I read reviews saying the jacket runs large. I find myself fitting a medium pretty much across the board. This jacket was no different (in 5ft10, 80kg)
Medium fits well with room to add another layer of needed. ( Which I did once when in the Ukraine)
Can't fault Arcteryx, clothes are top quality. Expensive but really good. I have this jacket along with a lighter Atom jacket, a Gillet fleece and gloves/scarf. All of which for true to size and are top quality.

Like others have stated, I found the jacket to run extremely large. I'm 5'11", 175 with athletic build and bought the medium. I basically felt like I was swimming in it. The sleeves were too long and it was way too wide and bulky. Not flattering at all and for more practical purposes, not ideal for keeping warm as I envisioned wind being able to easily make its way into the jacket.
I exchanged for a size small (first jacket I've ever purchased in Small) and am very happy. The jacket fits great and is very sleek. Sizing down was 100% the way to go. Great looking jacket and I can't wait to use it throughout the frigid winters in Chicago, where I live.

Awesome jacket from Arc'teryx but be careful with sizing! I'm 6ft, 180lbs (athletic build) and I have always been a Medium in Arc'teryx products (I own the Rush and Seton Jackets). I had been eyeing this jacket for a while and I'm glad I tried it on before I pulled the trigger. The Medium was just too big and baggy and the sleeves were really long as well. Just did not fit right. The guy at the Arc'teryx store cautioned against going with the Medium as it would cause heat to escape with the loose fit. I tried on the Small and it fit perfectly - much to my surprise as I never wear a Small in anything!
Long story short: Awesome jacket, great design and construction just make sure you have a chance to try on your size as well as one down in order to nail the fit!

I live in NYC and was looking for a sleek parka to wear over tailored clothing to work during winter months and this coat really hits the mark. It has a great minimalist silhouette and is super warm. In particular i really love the 2 way zipper which streamlines digging into pants pockets, riding a bike and even hitting the urinal. I also really like the quilted hood which has a lot more structure than hoods on Gore-Tex shell jackets which I rarely use. I'd recommend this jacket for temps in the 30's and below. Any warmer and you'll cook. While I wear this coat in an urban setting it's also a great parka for any suburban and rural pursuits.

Love the jacket but had to return it. I have alot of arcteryx prod and LOVE the fit of anything labeled "trim" or slim fit.
I had to return this jacket only because it was too baggy. I feel like this type of style should have at least a trim/slim option, It would look so awesome.
So arcteryx, make a SLIM version of this style for the up coming winter so I can get one.
