True to size if you like fairly tight fit. Has been water proof if moderately heavy rain. Durability unknown but has sruvived about a dozen uses in various terrain.

Love the jacket! Used for backpacking west coast trail and berg lake. Only disappointment was when I got a burn mark from a spark from fire. Kept me warm and dry enough when I needed it.

I am so pleased with my new Arc'teryx Beta SL Jacket. I love the colour and the fit and best of all it really keeps out the wind and the rain. We live on the shore of Lake Huron and get a lot of strong wind gusts and driving rain. The Beta SL has kept me warm and dry. Definitely better than any other jacket I've owned. On our recent hiking trips in New Zealand and Norway we saw a lot of people wearing Arc'teryx. Now I know why. Excellent quality.

I purchased this jacket as a lightweight waterproof jacket to use for the majority of the year. It has kept me comfortable and dry in various conditions and temperatures. Took it on a recent trip to Norway and it kept me nice and dry during several long periods of heavy rain. Great fit and a great hood with good adjustability. Very pleased with my purchase.

I have several Arc'teryx shell jackets including the Stingray and Beta LT but this is the one I usually end up taking with me because it is lightweight, fits perfectly (medium - 5''8" - 175 lb) and is very comfortable. The jacket and hood can be adjusted to create the fit you want without limiting motion or visibility. It sheds water quite effectively, even in heavy rain. It's very easy to zip up, roll up into the hood, and pack, taking up very little space. Although it breathes well with light or moderate activity, with vigorous exertion it can get a bit sweaty and hot... but then I just take it off. All things considered, it's one of my favorite pieces of Arc'teryx gear.

I continue to come back to Arc'teryx jackets time and time again and it's all about the fit/comfort. Their products (IMO) are cut for women with room for athletic shoulders/arms and allow for a wide range of movement. A comfortable fit is my first priority over price and other attributes. I have a heavier Gortex jacket, but this one is more versatile, flexible, easier to carry with me and the one I end up using more. I'm thankful that the jackets come in solid tasteful colours (though I typically buy black).

Even though it's not a part of the AR (all-round) series, I have used my Beta SL in pretty much every condition ranging from a rainy walk in the city to mountain climbing in a snow storm.
I've had the jacket for over +2 years and it's still going strong despite a lot of abuse. For the money it's a no brainer.
The description from Arc'teryx is true in every sense, it's so light you barely feel that you have it on. It's super easy to pack. And it absolutely keeps you dry - always.
I probably wont recommend this as an everyday jacket even though I have been using it that way. There are some signs of wear but that is on me for using it so much.
Regarding the fit, it's quite roomy so it fits a midlayer easily. So it's not exactly tight fitting in any way. Perhaps the fit is somewhat different on the 2018 model compared to the 2015, could Arc'teryx confirm this?
Don't expect to run in it, it's breathable enough to be worn walking/hiking/climbing but it can get quite sweaty using it for a longer period of time unless the temperature is at around 5C or 41F for the average person.
If you need a rain/storm shell in your bag or car. This thing is perfect.

I've owned this jacket for over 5 years and its been a best friend in over 50 countries and 5 continents. Zippers and Fabric are still like new! From tropical storms in Thailand to Hiking in Japan this jacket has kept me warm and dry in anything mother nature throws at it. Layer the Atom LT underneath and you'll be toasty warm in even the coldest Canadian winter. When not needed it packs super small for even the smallest pack or bag. On top of it all it looks great and is super comfy! I would highly recommend!!! 6 2" 200LBS and i own the large.

So far so good!
Love the green colour, looks fantastic!
This shell seems more solid than I initially thought it would be. Still feels thick, zippers are all sealed, and water disperses EXTREMELY well.
Love the cut of this as it feels more all season- compared to my theta ar.
I will say it is not AS light as I thought it would be, being an SL. That being said, I really still love it and it seems fantastic so far!

So, I have had this baby for almost a year now. I bought it for emergency weather while hiking but haven't had too many times to test it until recently.
I have had multiple long treks in the rain in the past month and I can confidently say it is perfect! The goretex works flawlessly. I stay no matter how long I'm in the rain or snow. It's super lightweight so I can pack it away in a flash when I need to (or keep it in my pack for emergency). It isn't flashy or fancy, but that's why I love it, and it works like a gem!

The yellow color on the web looks really tulip bright, but upon arrival I found the jacket to be much more orange-ish turmeric (the name Madras gives a hint there). I love the jacket, but wish the picture on the web would show clearer what the color is actually like.

I absolutely love this jacket! I am the type of person that has commitment issues especially when spending a decent amount of money. I took my time and compared all my options and finally chose this jacket and am so happy that I did. The shipping was amazing and it arrived in 3 days, which is great for my Northern town that is pretty isolated. It fits true to size with room for under layers (I am a fairly petite person and ordered a small). It is very light, you barely feel it and it is completely water proof. The hood also covers my face nicely protecting it from rain. The only thing i would change is ventilation under arm for humid days.

This is 2nd Beta SL Jacket. I had the older version for over 10 years and after heavy use in the rain, travel, hiking, cycling and constant washing and re-applying DWR, the bottom seam gave way. I love the older version color which is red but the hood does not stay in place and keep covering my eyes. I send for old one for repair and Arcteryx replaced with this new version. I love the color, it is lightweight and the new hood design is amazing. When is over your head, it stay in place and does not fall and cover your eyes. There is draw cord to tighten and secure in place. My only small complain is that the material is noisy. It is very compact and love the fitting.
