Great jacket, very good quality and fit. I live in Vancouver where we get a proper rainy season and this jacket keeps me dry. Definitely recommend it. Great slim fit but can layer as needed. I am 41, 6'0 tall and 188 pounds with an athletic build (broad shoulders and narrow waist) and the large fits perfect.

This jacket is everything it says in the description. I wore it on the west coast trail and it was warm and waterproof! I usually would get a small size but because I wanted to layer this product when wearing I purchased a medium size- it's great with a t-shirt or bulky sweater! Loved it! Thanks Arcteryx, nailed it again;)

Bought the jacket for backpacking. But for starter took it to Snowdon for a test ride. Excellent jacket, kept me snow and water proof throughout the climb. The hood was bang on. No snow got in, even in 50mph wind!!. Love the chin guard very helpful. All in all a great lightweight jacket and also affordable compared to Beta AR. One thing I'm unsure of is it's durability, as the jacket is light I'm quite worried about its lifespan. Hopefully Arcteryx, live up to their name and cause me no problem during my trip.

I needed a new Gore-tex shell for stormy Maritime days and I wanted the quality of Arcteryx. This fit's perfectly over my 3 year old Cerium hoody down jacket and I'm toasty and dry. It's going to be great for travel and the price is right. I bought this on this site, avoided the lacklustre service of local dealer and it arrived in less than 48 hours. Great service Arcteryx, thank you!

I've been wearing my Beta SL Jacket for a couple of years now and it still looks brand new. I've worn it in both heavy rain and snow, but I always end up nice and dry. The overall fit of the jacket is quite baggy so you can layer up underneath and be fine. The pockets of this jacket are massive so you can store a lot in them. I normally store my medium sized water bottle, bi-fold wallet, keys (car fob + house + work), lip balm and other random things from time to time. (When I travel, I'll also throw my passport holder in there) This jacket is perfect and timeless. It's very durable and because of Arc'teryx's lifetime guarantee, I'm never worried about it failing on me!

I have owned this jacket now for 6 years and I take it with me everywhere. Every time I go hiking it is packed into the bottom of my pack and every trip I take it is the last thing in my bag. It is super light and packs easily so that you don't have to worry about considering if you really *need* a waterproof shell. Also, and most importantly for me, it has very good waterproofing. I have worn it in many a tropical downpour and stayed absolutely dry. I have one great picture from an adventure in Costa Rica where I was absolutely drenched to the bone and when I took off my jacket my torso was completely dry. This is a great jacket that I would recommend to anyone. Additionally, I recently took this jacket in because the straps at the bottom were ripping out and I had a wonderful customer service experience. The kind that makes it absolutely worthwhile to pay the few extra bucks and get the higher quality gear. My mom and brother now also have arcteryx jackets (different models) and I know that we are all extremely happy with our gear. And I'm very happy with this light-weight and portable shell.

I purchased this jacket as a gift for my mother. She is a very conservative person, who enjoys daily walks in the woods. She is defintely not a fan of outdoor gears. This jacket is the ONLY piece of outdoor gear that she actually liked, and used on a daily basis. She said, "This jacket looks great, is super light, and really blocks out North Vancouver morning rains." My mother is 165cm tall and weighs 65kg. The Large fits perfect with room for one more layer.

I have owned this jacket for two seasons. At first I used it sparingly because of concerns as to its durability due to its light weight. I also saved it for warmer days as I wondered if it would be weather resistant. Well I gradually learned to trust it and it is now fully employed in my rota of outerwear. Don't let the light weight fool you It is the real deal. It also offers excellent fit and functionality. It is minimalist so not the piece for much storage or features, the tradeoffs being affordability and light weight.

I love my new jacket. It fit really well and the color is beautifull ( Midori Green ). I'm 5'6' and between 120 - 125 lbs and the small is perfect. Certainly not my last purchase with this company !

Absolutely in love with the Beta SL. Fits perfectly thru the waistline and is a little longer in the back to cover all the necessary things! Love that the hood is big and wide brimmed, wore it out when it was pouring rain with just a t-shirt underneath. Not a drop of rain whatsoever. Didn't even need an umbrella.. With Vancouver's' amount of rain per year, this is definitely a great piece. Lightweight and compactable but really protects from the elements! Can't say enough good things about the Beta SL!

This jacket gives me the extra confidence to head outdoors knowing I'll stay dry hiking during spring, summer, and fall. Superb packability means I don't think twice about bringing this jacket with me if there is any doubt in the weather forecast. I have a heavier (and totally awesome) Theta AR for the days I know for sure I'll need it for rain or snow or room for extra layers underneath, but the Beta SL is unparalleled when I'm packing for a day or overnight trip where space is a premium in my pack. It's also the jacket I carry in my running pack if I'm running to or from work where I know I might need it on the leg of the commute where I'm on or waiting for the bus. So versatile!

I have the Beta FL jacket and although I love it I needed a jacket with a little more room for layering and so the Beta SL was my choice. I really wanted the Beta LT which has light insulation and doesn't have that plastic feel but I couldn't get myself to spend that much. I am an Arc'teryx fan mostly because the fit is so well designed. I know I can buy any Arc'teryx product and know it will fit before even trying it on. As for the negative comments below, they obviously didn't do their research and or aren't familiar with Gore Tex waterproof guarantee. Return or exchange it if your not satisfied! This is my go-to winter waterproof jacket when hiking and around town. Keep it clean and it will always be waterproof.

I bought this jacket while looking for a lightweight spring jacket, and this is definitely the best jacket I own. It is super lightweight, and waterproof, which is great for slightly chilly and rainy days. It looks great, and the GORE-TEX means that it is very breathable as well. Mine did happen to have the zipper break, but the warranty from Arc'teryx covered it for free!

As an outdoor guide I'm constantly putting my gear through rigorous conditions and pushing it to its limits. Of all the jackets I have ever owned my Arcteryx jacket has held up beyond what I ever expected. I just ordered this jacket to replace my old one and look forward to receiving it. I am not sure what model I currently own but it has stood the test of time. I have owned the jacket for 11 years and just now it is starting to get a little leaky and worn out. I have used it mountaineering, backpacking, ice climbing and on countless other trips. It is my go to jacket when I need trustworthy protection from the elements. Although pricey, Arcteryx is well worth the cost when compared to what you get and how long it will last if taken care of properly. I

I love how this jacket packs down to almost nothing, but delivers full blown protection from the elements. It is so easy to toss into my pack and pull out anytime mother nature decides to water her planet. This lightweight jacket offers complete protection from the rain and is breatheable. The hood fits well and is easily adjustable. All the waterproof zippers are easy to use. The cuffs are adjustable. This jacket doesn't have pit zips, but it really doesn't seem to be a big issue as far as moisture buildup inside the jacket. I am a Mountaintech and this jacket has become a favorite for me.

I wear this skiing, ski touring, hiking, backpacking, mountaineering... this is the only piece of gear that is required on all of my trips. I know it's not designed as a winter jacket, but honestly, with extra layers in my pack, or on piste at the hill, it's great. I've spent easily over 40 days last year in the winter wearing this with my mid-layers and it breathes perfectly. I knew I'd be using it in winter so I bought a Medium (I'm usually a small), and it seems to fit me perfectly regardless of what I wear underneath. I read some of the other reviews re: being wet after the rain, and I definitely have NOT had this problem... I've been poured on during several multi day expeditions, and I can assure you this jacket has kept me dry.

This jacket is the most breathable, waterproof light shell I've ever owned! It's versatile in the sense that I can carry it with me every day for wind, rain or snow! The adjustable hood is a good form and not uncomfortable. That also includes the adjustable wrists, because you don't have to take your gloves off to change the velcro. I'm a GORE-TEX Mountain Tech and I've had gone through my share of shells over the years. Some folks might be turned away by the fact that this jacket does not have pit zips, but I can tell you from experience you won't be upset by it once you have it on! I've never felt irritated in wearing this jacket wishing it had an added feature because it truly is a great light weight shell! I can't say that about other shells I've owned.

I have had my Beta SL for a little over a month and so far it is proving itself to be an excellent investment. The fit is spot on and leaves plenty of room for layering in cooler conditions. I use the jacket on the hill general walking and also mountain biking. For both purposes it performs excellently. I love the weight of the thing you can hardly tell your wearing it yet it provides complete and lasting protection from the elements. 8 hours on a welsh hillside in sideways rain or at the local trail centre my beta is always there for me. I am completely satisfied with the performance of the goretex paclite fabric, it does exactly what it says on the tin...lightweight protection and maximum breathability. If i wanted something heavy duty or massivley hardwearing i would have bought the Beta AR. For what its designed for this jacket is spot on!

I love this jacket. I get a lot of compliments on the looks of the jacket, which is a bonus. I love the way the hood fits; it has a bill on the hood that can be folded back for light rain or drizzle. I stay very dry. I also use this jacket as a windbreaker.

I've been hiking in the Western US this summer (2011) from 0 to 8850 ft altitude with mostly wind and occasional rain. A month ago I hiked in this jacket in a solid downpour for two hours with a medium weight pack and was dry as a bone. The lack of pit zips in this case wasn't an issue; I didn't over-heat. It fits me perfectly (XL size for 6'3" height / 46" long-athletic suit jacket). Further, although not a primary concern, the shade of "volcano red" is excellent whereas the typical "fire truck red" colored jackets of many other companies are too bright and unattractive. I considered exchanging my Beta SL for the Alpha LT and its 320N GORE-TEX Pro Shell 3L. But this jacket has 340NR GORE-TEX Paclite 2L, it performs fine, and I doubt at this point I'll gain much for the extra $150 investment required. How much more abuse merits an upgrade from this jacket? If I were doing a major summit ascent over a 1-2 week period in potentially frequent rain/snow with a medium/heavy pack I'd probably exchange this for a more rugged jacket like the Alpha LT or SV but for 95% of hiking/trekking adventures this is sufficient.

After owning this jacket for 2 months finally got to test it out in the rain, a 60 degree downpour for about 2 hrs with full pack. I stayed totally dry through out the entire hike, and though had nothing on for a top layer at this temp, did neither sweat or become cold. Can't wait to take out in a little colder temp to see how well the jacket will insulate. The rain beaded up on jacket and dried quickly afterword. Very happy thus far.
