I've been doing an 18 mile round trip to my office with this bag and I love it to pieces. It's got a spot for everything, and its so well balanced, even with a u-lock in the side pocket there's no uncomfortable drag to the side. i am 5'4" and 125lb and the bag is a little wider than me but not much, I like that it doesn't expand and look like it's swallowing me. And the chest straps are fully adjustable so a person with breasts can get them high enough. The slim profile will be good for subway commenting when that's a thing again.

Recently switched to commuting to work by bike, and this bag ticks all the boxes. Big enough size to carry my laptop, lunch, and work clothes. Very happy to find the water bottle holster could hold.my 32oz Takeya. Support in the back and straps are good, and good air flow too. Enough pockets of size and diversity to organize my belongings. Fits all my needs perfectly

The bag was designed for 15". I bought this for my 17" laptop. Therefore, I also got a 17" sleeve for the laptop. It works pretty well so far. The bag looks very well-constructed and durable.

This bag is high quality, stylish and functional. It's thoughtfully designed for bikers but also a perfect travel / weekend, or day backpack. I've only had it about 10 days but it's remarkable how it's made my bike rides better. Especially like the back padding that's raised and allows airflow. My back doesn't get nearly as sweaty even in 90 degree weather. Highly recommend.

I got this backpack for my husband to commute to and from the hospital with. He loves all the compartments and loves how sturdy the bag is. It's a great handle if he prefers to hold it when he has a suit on and otherwise fits so nicely as a backpack.

I ride a bike to work everyday and use this for my laptop and other essentials. the pack is well designed and comfortable. It feels secure while riding. So far nothing has gotten wet.... the water proof zippers and material look like they will hold up. I have only ridden in the rain once since I bought this 2 weeks ago. The pouch for the cell phone is very convenient. I really like this pack. Good job TimBuk2

I absolutely love my backpack. It has the space that I need for when I'm traveling out of town, and plenty of space for my work commute. I love the water resistant parts of the bag. It makes me feel confident that my laptop and other papers and books will be just fine if I get caught in the rain.

I had this bag before and loved it, the style cut really works and makes the bag WAY more versatile due to fabric; which makes it durable-quality-performance gear. I think the reflective material at the bottoms is a brilliant idea and really changes things up and makes it shine at night. As, well the added room when you unzip the front area to give it some more volume. It actually stands up pretty well when upright, unlike a lot of other bags; which causes it to get more dirtier... Thanks for a cool bag Timbuk2! :)

I use this bag to carry my work items, and also as my personal item for airline travel. Lot of straps to help keep the profile slim when you need it, and the expanding back compartment is really useful when I need to carry an extra pair of shoes for an extracurricular activity. The material itself is durable, and I've on occasion held up the entire bag by a single zipper and it held up. My one complaint: when I walked around in rain, some rain ended up getting into the bag. This is probably user error, but I had most of the velcro on so that water should have been directed down and away. Will have to test it out again when wet weather next hits.

I use this bag to commute to work on my bicycle everyday. Perfect to carry a change of clothes, my lunch, and a ulock. Also seems to have perfectly sized compartments for all the other little junk I carry with me. I had my previous Timbuk2 bag for about 15 years. This was a nice upgrade/refresh. No complaints.

I have had this back pack for a little more than a month. I use it primarily for commuting to work and to the barn on a motorcycle. The fit excellent and the space is more than adequate for my daily commute. I'm very happy with the bag

A beautifully engineered and very well thought out backpack. I use it everyday (going to work on the construction site and motorcycling as much as possible) and based on the quality it'll last a decade or more. Every zipper, strap, seam, and pocket is in a logical place and can be secured.

I'm quite impressed with this bag. I first became aware of Timbuk2 with their messenger bags years ago when I was just starting to move away from messengers towards backpacks. So this is my first Timbuk2 experience. My prior bags were Kelty, Osprey, and Hedgren. The Especial Medio blue/red is the perfect color blend for a professional look with a little bit of personality (red zippers), unlike all of the boring all-black bags you see all over the city. The bag is sturdy, strong, and fits everything. The venting on the back is awesome- unlike my previous "vented" bag, I actually feel the cool air on my spine. I appreciate the organization of the exterior pockets most. Occasionally I need to pick up something at the store and bring home via train and bike. The "helmet" pocket expands to just the right size. I've also thrown my coat in that pocket when it's too hot on the train. The "ID pocket" is easily accessible when wearing the pack with the right strap only, and fits a pack of tissues, Chapstick, my ID, and an iPhone 7. Plenty big enough. Water. That's why I bought this bag. Oh- speaking of water, my 750ml Camelbak insulated bottle fits nicely into the "U-lock pocket" but is way too big for the "water bottle pocket." Regarding rain, it is such a joy to ride a bike to the train station in the rain with no worries. In steady rain and ice pellets (my biggest test so far), the Especiale Medio was bone dry in every pocket and interior as it sat atop my Marmot Eclipse jacket and Marmot Precip pants. Plenty of room for everything I bring on my commute. Cons: I can live with these but you should be aware... -the bag is heavy, but it also feels the sturdiest and most stable on my back. -it's a little on the thin side for me. You can use the expandable pocket outside when needed, but bear in mind that expandable pocket is not waterproof when expanded. - a little fraying... Interior is showing very light fraying at the edge of the interior fabric (see pic)

Very comfortable and feature packed. Protects my tech during the rainy season, makes me visible at night when biking, and gives me extra space when I need it. Recommended!

I originally bought a Medio Especial (ME) to replace a messenger bag which, because I often overpacked it, caused my pain in my shoulder. I use the ME biking and walking to work and it has been fantastic. It holds more than I want to pack, has a place for a lock, a helmet, a laptop, plus all the things you need to carry (keys, phone, different clothing layers, small umbrella) plus easy access to a pocket with my passport, etc. Anyway, my original ME was stolen on a train on a business trip last month grrr. I looked at the Nevercheck bag, but the more I though about it, the more perfect I think this ME bag is- so I bought another. I also fly frequently and it is a great companion, has a large capacity (often I put shoes in it), but stores easy. And, it's waterproof- I live in an area where rain comes and goes- and this keeps everything dry. I love the new bag, it has more reflection than my older version, but everything else is the same. I love it, and highly recommend it as a commuting and travel companion- especially if you walk or bike and find yourself in inclement weather.

The last backpack I had was stolen, so am buying it again. This is great backpack for bike commuting. I have had it for several years in Denver year-round. I had gone through several bike spills and crashes with some minor scuffing and scratching, all while protecting my laptop. Nothing ever got wet, straps are comfortable, good in hot weather, and I used it in business meetings as well as for travel. I've carried groceries, baked goods, and cold beverages. Side pocket is perfect for my Samsung Note phone and is conveniently located for easy access with just one hand. Just wish it had had a GPS tracker so I could have found the thief.

My word. When I bought this bag a couple of weeks ago, I primarily bought it to use to incentivize myself to ride my bicycle more around Indianapolis. I expected it to be roomy and waterproof, but I didn't expect it to be the one bag to rule them all. This thing has everything: pockets for days, mesh padding in the back to prevent embarrassing sweat/pain. The hidden pocket in the back for quick access is terrific for mI ya in case of emergency freshening. Especially like that the bag is a little bit taller, which allows me to fit my 15 inch MacBook Pro, my Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, eight dongle's, a variety of cables, my 10 1/2 inch iPad, and a laptop riser, with plenty of room still for a mouse wrist protector, back up batteries, and umbrella, and a lint roller, because you never know. This bag is a beauty and a beast. Simply put, it just allows me to get stuff is done without having to think about if the contraption holding all my stuff is going to fail or not. Yes it's expensive, but it's worth every penny. Can't recommend highly enough.

I bike about 20 miles round trip to work, often in the rain. This is maybe the nicest pack I've ever owned for commuting. The construction is very light but super sturdy. There are pockets o'plenty, lots of room for spare clothes & gear, a spot for your laptop, and lots of other handy features. It fits well and seems impervious to rain. I love it.

I got this bag as a replacement for the exact same bag. (After 4.5 years it was getting a little rough around the ages). It is the best backpack I have ever owned. I love the style and the waterproof exterior allows you to be outside in the elements. It is a bit large, so while it will fit under the seat on a plane, it will stick out by your feet. I wish it had one more small interior pocket, and be careful not to overstuff it! But overall, a great bag.

This is so perfect for cyclists. It has a helmet compartment, a place for your lock, water bottle, and a side pocket that is easy to access your keys. One of the water bottle pockets is small, so if you have a big bottle it might not fit properly although you can use the one that is made for the bike lock and it will Keep it secure. The main compartment is huge and will fit all that you need. The straps are comfortable and it feels as though the weight is distributed throughout your back. The shoulder and hip straps are also great if you're riding around town and want to keep your bag nice and secure. Also, it's rain-resistant so there's not much more you can ask for.
