I've been using an older Small Timbuk2 messenger bag for a couple years now that was a hand-me-down from a coworker. Love everything about the bag including the size, the shoulder and bike strap features, and especially the organization and pockets. I use the bag for my daily bike commute to work, as a travel bag when flying, and for the occasional small shopping trip. Due to a change in my work situation I needed to upgrade to a larger bag to accommodate carrying a 15" laptop back and forth to the office. I received the new bag and the size is great - perfect for what I need to haul around, but I was disappointed in the changes to the interior organization and pocket layout of the other design. Specifically the disappointing changes are: The 3 outer zipper pockets were replaced with just one. The large interior pocket previously contained some smaller pockets and zipper compartments that helped a lot for carrying around a variety of cables - but is now missing. The vertical interior pocket no longer has a velcro flap that covers the top. I wish that this bag had the great organization features of my older bag, but other than these organizational disappointments it is a great bag and I'm sure I will be using it daily for many years!

I bought this bag as a gift for my daughter in law who wanted a crossbody bag that she could use for work and be able to carry her laptop and usual contents in. I like that I could customize the color and the blue I chose is beautiful. The bag is roomy and has pockets and space for everything she wants to carry. She hasn't received it yet but I think she will love it. My concern with this order is the lack of communication from the company about when the bag would be ready and shipped. It arrived in a scoffed up plastic bag. I think Timbuk2 can do better with updates and packaging. Other upscale shops would never ship like this. Optics matter from ordering to shipping.

I use it primarily as a work bag. It holds most of my essentials and my 14-inch laptop and a tablet. It's much more balanced and slim compared to my old bulky work bag. A few issues. I'd like to see a a fall that can cover the Velcro and i would like the dividers time go all the way to the bottom of the bag. Only the laptop portion is completely sectioned off so often items and papers will slide between dividers. Lastly i think the strap pad should have been included. Kind of cheap to make that an add on. Size was a small, medium might have been better for my needs

Using this bag this weekend on a extended weekend trip. It has lots of room, wish the cover piece had a pocket. It can carry plenty of gear. overall I am satisfied, now I have a choice on trips between this and my backpack.

I like the quality and most of the functionality of the bag. I wish it had a back or side pocket for shoving quick items. I have to open the entire bag to put even one item in. And if I wear trousers without pockets I can't easily put my phone inside.

I commute by bike and felt like my trusty ten year old medium laptop messenger was a little too big. So I picked up a small sized messenger. It's the perfect size. Fits exactly what I need and doesn't need more. The reflective panel is great at night. It even reflects the red blinky light I hook onto the bag when biking at night. However, I've noticed that the old messenger bag straps were way stiffer and wider. This one digs into your shoulder pretty readily. Also, because it's crushes horizontally so readily, the cross strap doesn't stay in place. It's a little hard to adjust the strap to the right length compared to the old quick adjust cam buckle. But it's not bad. The quality of it all feels great though. It's got the perfect amount of space, fits a 1L Nalgene perfectly, and feels more durable than ever. It's comfy to bike with and plenty quick to throw on and off the back.

the build quality is the same with my old messenger bag bought a decade ago. The new bag is a lot lighter and more comfy than the old one, however the pockets became smaller and with less compartment when compared with the old one. The colour available seems not so attractive as before as well. Yet it is still a quality bag which should last a long time.

I had A Timbuk2 bag in college and used it extensively. I still have it over 20 years later and use it on occasion. It was too big for daily use for what I do now. I needed something smaller that would be able to carry my laptop and a few things for work as well as something I can use for leisure travel that was good to haul a book or two and my tablet. This is a great bag for that. I have a medium sized laptop for work that barely fits but it would be nice if the bag had some internal padding/[protection for a laptop or tablet. Plenty of room for your charger, pockets for keys and easy access to things with minimal effort. I would recommend this to anyone but would like to see a padded pocket for electonics

This is my second classic messenger. The first was completely worn out after 8 years of constant use. So in that time some things are better (the styling, the buckle, the strap). However I carry a lot of things in my bag (pens, books, keys, notebooks, cycling gear, odds and ends, coins, panadol, headphones, bike pump, water bottle, reusable coffee cup, etc etc). And the one thing I hate and only after 3 days of use is the lack of pockets. There used to. E 3 zipper pockets on the front, now only 1 and it's on the small side which means everything is mixed up in there. Pull your keys out and suddenly everything is on the floor, ie the headphones which were wrapped around the keys. The 3 zipper pockets meant you could organise your bag and find things quickly and efficiently. Inside the bag the internal storage has also been stripped back. Less pockets and the zipper pocket seems smaller? Anyway the slash pocket for my laptop and random pieces of paper is great but the stripped back version (less storage options) of this bag is not. Yes I'd buy it again but will forever be frustrated foraging through my bag to find my keys which now do not have a dedicated home (pocket).

Order this bag a week ago. Upgrading from older Classic Messenger bag. Really disappointed that it did not come with a strap pad. Made the assumption it came with one. Now I have to buy a strap pad and pay shipping for it. Should have just bought this years model not on sale as it would have been same price. After using these bags for 10 years, feel a little cheated.

This is my 2nd Timbuk2 Classic messenger bag . It is always a good option when I want to buy a bag for biking and walking around with My 1st was size M now this is L. Very spacious to carry extra stuffs. Quite disappointed that this bigger bag don't came with a standard padded strap. When I ordered my M size it was a standard came with the bag. Now with heavier weight to carry it came without the padded strap. Overall Timbuk2 Classic messenger bag is always a good option.

I like this bag -- especially because it's not enormous. It feels in size like a regular shoulder bag and looks cool. My laptop can fit in (but barely). But I love not having an enormous tote all the time. One thing: this is a velcroed closure which means 1) it is *really loud* to open this bag and 2) it musses up clothing when the front rubs against it. That velcro is the one thing I wish were different-- I hate finding pulls in my clothes after carrying this around. I"ll keep the bag but I have to be aware of how I'm carrying it all the time.

Was looking forward to upgrading my TimBuk2. Last Classic bag came with strap pad. The new version comes with a pad. Bought one on sale, and that seems to have been cut. Would have just bought a new one, if I saw it was not included. Disappointed in lack of clarity on website.

I use the bags every day - medium bag takes a lot of papers and a large heavy laptop. I'll probably get the strap pad soon - the bag isn't comfortable for a long walk as is. Timbuk2 should think about including the pads with the bag.

I love the bag. It is a big bag so it's not meant for daily computer/work bag. I used mine as a short-stay travel bag.

I've been using a large version of this same bag but wanted one that wouldn't weigh as much. This is perfectit fits all my stuff and keeps it organized, and the smaller size means I can't carry more than I need. My only complaint is that the colors came out very different in person than they looked on the website.

This is to replace my 30+ yo Timbuk2 bag that I've used almost every day. Positives - Doesn't smell like my old one; same size, more zippers; seems well made. Negatives- New car smell; laptop protector should be removable, small pockets, no longer a messenger bag for messengers. Hopefully, we'll both have another 30 years.

Bag looks great, l like the color, sprung for the comfy handle which isn't as large or "comfy" as the classic handle (or what's shown in the photo for that matter) otherwiseI think it's the best I can get from Timbuk2. I will also include in this review a plea to Timbuk2 to PLEASE bring back the version of the classic messenger that had a zipper along the back which allowed quick access to the bag without having to unclip or lift the messenger flap. There were also several more compartments in the front. That version was my first bag and I adored above anything you guys have offered. If you bring it back I'll buy it on the spot, even having just bought this one.

on sale, no frills, no fancy color combinations.. just plain black. Laptop lined pouch is a nice touch. Tough water resistant out covering with water proof inner liner. Besides laptop pouch - pockets and their layout... so so. Except for a large horizontal front pocket easily accesible with the bag flap closed Opening and closing flap involves 2 noisy velcro Shoulder strap has a nice tab for easy adjustment. Only negative - had to buy ($15) shoulder pad.

My husband has had one of these bags for many years. It's durability has been amazing. But the time finally arrived for a new one. I was thrilled to see that you are still producing them. The new bag is beautiful! I do have one complaint however. I wish the new bag came with a padded strap protector like the old one.
