Ok I was leary about shelling out $80 for Chucks. But you understand really quickly where that extra $ went. I'm impressed. These are beefy in comparison. Sharp. I wear a 9 in the standard version and a 9 fits perfectly. Tennis shoe comfort and Chuck style.

First time getting the Chuck 70 version low top. I have a pair of the regular Converse All Star I have wore for a while. Though these new ones have what seems like stronger canvas, better stitching, cushioning, I find they are a bit more SHOE like than the original All Stars. It made me realize what I really liked about my originals is they are flexible to the max and even the canvas is much more flexible. These 70s also are heavier. More like a pair of Vans (no dis to Vans, I have 2 pair). When I get another pair of Converse I will just stick to the original, less expensive pair.

Super comfortable! It’s like a beefed-up version of the the regular chucks! Love them!

Love this shoe. I have a wide, size 14 foot and this shoe is comfy and has plenty of width and length.

I was in the market for a convers chuck taylor ii. unfortunately, they are not in production anymore. I can't stand the original chuck taylor because of it's lack of cushion on the insole. This version is in the middle between the chuck taylor original and the chuck taylor ii. But still not enough cushion on the insole to spend a day in town.

This is better than core Chucks, but not as nice as the former Chuck II insoles. And the rubber is shiny. Can’t decide if it’s great or ugly.

Great classic look, run about a half to a full size larger than normal Converse All Stars. definitely feet sturdier and offer more cushioning than standard All Stars. Still quite narrow for a sneaker.

Had to order a size smaller. Not the most comfortable shoe out there, but decent for casual wear

FYI, I didn't realize the '70 version has a much thicker/chunkier sole than the standard Chucks. Everything felt heavier duty and well made. Also the "Field Surplus" colorway is a lot more green than the pictures would suggest. I was expecting a warm grey but they are definitely more like olive drab.

I'm going to compare these to the Core Ox style. I wear an 8.5 women in the Core Ox. I like toe room so I decided to try these in a 9 women. I found that the toe room in these 9s was narrower than the 8.5 women in the Core Ox style. I didn't want to go up to a 9.5 because then they'd have that clown shoe, crease and crush your toe fit.
Even though they didn't work for me, I loved their quality! I wish other styles had the more substantial canvas and slightly more weighted bottoms. It felt like they'd last longer than the other chucks.
If the fit works for you, these are the best converse shoes you could get for the money.

As with every pair of Converse All Stars I have ever bought, buy one full size down. I usually wear 11.5 but I order 10.5. If you have doubts, try on converse in a store before you order. I usually replace the 56" long shoelaces with something shorter or else have too much string flapping.

I wrote a review for the "classic" Chucks, so I will spare repeating myself here. The rest of this review contains more specific comments about this "redux" pair of Chucks. Personally I prefer these over the classic Chucks, and here's why:
1. The rubber around the sole and toe is much higher quality, it has a light polish to it which gives it a much higher quality feel and look. And it does have a slight cream tone to it, making it appear a little more retro looking. Also, the toe-cap is a tad smaller than the classic Chucks with gives the appearance of a slightly more pointed toe.
2. The laces are much higher quality, a much more dense cotton that will definitely be more durable over the lifetime of the sneaker.
3. the canvas upper seems to be higher quality than the standard as well, but I could be wrong. The stitching around the over toe area is one of the most discernible aesthetics that says it's a throw-back design. I don't mind it but the classics don't have it so it may be a bit jarring to some people.
4. The insole is also non-removealbe, but with density and design of the in/out-sole is such that it give the impressing of more mid-sole rigidity. For someone like me, who prefers my own insoles with more arch-support, this is a welcomed design feature, since the "classic" Chucks have a ton of flex in the midsole...which is not great if you prefer more metatarsal support. These 70's Chucks are noticeably more supportive there.
So, that's my review. In all I much prefer these over the Classic Chucks, they are hands-down worth the extra money!

Glad Converse finally made the '70 in navy, which I much prefer to the basic Chucks.

I have worn converse my whole life and as i get older i notice my back gets tired after an entire day in normal converse. these '70s versions are infinitely more comfortable. the style is better too. you can tell the difference with the thicker canvas and real rubber out sole.

these shoes are a classic pair to have in your closet. i always want another color. They aren't the best for my arches, but for a cute casual shoe, they are great.

It looks great, but like most Chuck's, they run narrow so just keep that in mind if you have wide feet.

I love these Converse shoes. They are comfortable and they fit well. I usually wear a size 11W and I was concerned when I saw that they did not have wide sizes, but I took a chance, ordered a size 11½ to compensate for my wide feet, and that fit comfortably. No problem fitting my wide, flat feet. I am so glad that I bought them.

Never worn Chucks before so perhaps this would be expected. I thought the sole felt very thick under my feet -- was hoping for these as a summer casual shoe and the overall feel was just way too bulky underfoot. But otherwise construction and look seemed quite good.

Classic Chucks. If you had these back in the day the new ones won't disappoint. If you didn't, then beware: these are minimalist shoes. No arch support, flexible to the point of nearly no protection from the elements and a tread that's fine on the hardwoods, but lacking for cross training, etc. This is style over substance, but it is what it is. Young feet and arches may tolerate this, while geezers like me may have to limit their wear time. Being hip has its price!

Love these kicks. The fit is great, I wear Womens 7 1/2, but in these I went two sizes down for a Mens size 4.5 and they fit perfectly. No complaints here. The only thing is that with the color they tend to mark up easily.

The fit was right on. The quality was amazing, however, I needed a flexible sole. This shoe will not work for me as it's too flat with no arch support and no flex in the sole.
