This could be a better shirt if it was simplified. It is vastly over designed. The side vents are unnecessary and the back vent is questionable. The collar needs only the snaps, nothing else.
Simplify the shirt and lower the price.

I love this shirt! I bought one for my husband last year. It functions beautifully on our sailboat (cool, yet covers well, breathes in back, good pockets with velcro closures). The fabric is very soft. Unfortunately, it isn't made in women's sizes, so I bought myself a men's small. The sleeves are too long, but since I wear it so casually, I just roll them up and don't worry about the appearance. I am only reducing the overall rating to 4 stars since it doesn't come in my size.
I'd also recommend:
This is the best brand for this item.

These are pretty decent looking and comfortable shirts. I have the walnut and white ones. Be aware that the white one is quite sheer and somewhat see through so I feel I need to layer it. I think this is quite common for lightweight white shirts. The walnut one is also lightweight, but does not look sheer, so I can wear it by itself. One thing I have mixed feelings about is the fold out collar. When you need it, it is nice to have, but otherwise it can get crumpled and make the collar not lay well.

I have liked Ex Officio products for years.
The update to the AirStrip shirt made problems for me:
1.The pockets are shorter and less capacious. A serious problem for me because of what I carry in those pockets--a date book and a glasses case.
2. The sleeves may be longer than the original?
3. The button holes may be slightly smaller than those of the original? Makes buttoning the shirt a little harder. Not a big problem

Nice shirt, but a bit pricey. I have other ex officio products and they wear quite well

This was the first Exofficio shirt I purchased for my husband. It is designed nicely and fit well. However, it must be pressed secondary to wrinkles post washing on permanent press - tumbling dry for only a few minutes and then hung to dry.
We have purchased several Royal Robbins shirts with similar attributes (SPF, Bug Away, Vented Areas, Pockets) and they launder beautifully! Never need ironing. I realize that clothing is often manufactured in different countries with possibly various fabrics, but I would not purchase again.

2xl was huge. I have to return it for a smaller size. I have ordered many other 2xl long sleeve button down shirts from exofficio and they fit perfectly for my spouse.

I bought my first Air-Strip shirt about 20 years ago. It is still going strong but I wanted to buy a few more.
The shirt might look the same and offer the same functions, but it is a different shirt now.
1) The material is thinner and tends to wrinkle more.
2) There were two side-vents on each side but now there is only one side vent.
3) Sizing is different, I bought the medium , returned it for a large. With the large, arm length is good, shoulder width is good, the rest of the fit is very loose. I'm 5'11", 180 lbs.
4) The pockets now have two Velcro patches instead of one, which I think is an improvement over one Velcro patch
5) The pockets don't hold has much as they did before, but that's ok by me.
I noticed a couple of threads have pulled on the cuff, I must have caught it on something.
Not sure if I would buy another Air Strip. I just bought the Exofficio Reef-Runner and will review that shirt after wearing it a few times.

This model of shirt was too slim for my girth. I had been hoping for a relaxed fit like LL Bean shirts, but not so with this one. Had to return.

I loved the older style of this shirt. I think like most reviewers we prefer these shirts to be stylish AND functional, yet I lean more or the side of functionality. This shirt is more of a slim cut than its predecessor. If you are active you will notice the loss of functionality and the cut actually feels like it slows down my movements when I need to get to something. It is a good shirt, but no longer an exceptional shirt.

I had several of these shirts under the old sizing. The old XXL can be had by ordering XXXL. But why did they need to change anything in the first place?
The material seems quite a bit thinner, as well, so I'm concerned about long-term durability.
If these 2 new ones don't last, I'm not paying $80 each to replace them.
Moderately disappointed but we'll see.

I have purchased this product for the last 12 years. The material was changed from an 80/20 to this new "lite fabric" which does not last as long as the 80/20. Little fuz balls begin to form all over the shirt. Great shirt bad fabric.

I have used the airstrip shirt for fishing, sightseeing and traveling throughout the world for years and the new fit does not give the comfort and allowable movement that made this shirt famous. You need to bring back the unrestricted, lose fit that made this shirt a staple in every seasoned travelers wardrobe. Your brief description of updating should not be geared to a slim fitting shirt for style. For those that outings are styled for the coffee shops there should be other alternatives. This shirt is a premier workhorse on and off the road that requires a lose fit that is functional for the adventure traveler and the sportsman.

Dear Exofficio,
I wanted to provide some customer feedback on your new "Updated" Air Strip shirt. I have worn the Air Strip shirt for many years and was very pleased with the technical features. I recently purchased two new Air Strip shirts and discovered that you had made changes in the design. Your new version is lacking in the front pockets. The old version allowed me to carry significantly more items because the pocket was billowed and wider. The new version limits the items that I can carry and that is a significant issue.
I don't know "who" suggested these updates but I can tell you that it wasn't your customers. The Air Strip shirt is a fashionable shirt but it must contain the functional elements for outdoor usage.
Recommendation: I suggest that you produce the old version of the Air Strip shirt as well as continue to produce the new "updated" version. This will allow your customers to decide if they really want the "slimmer fit" and "smaller front pockets." I believe that you will be surprised to find that customer were very happy with the old version.
Like the saying goes, "Don't fix what is not broken."
My additional comments:
The old shirt had a "single" Velcro closure on the front pockets that was easy to open/close. The updated shirt has "two" Velcro closures that are difficult to open with one hand. As stated above, the old front pockets were much larger, were bellowed, and could carry much more items.
The old shirts had a durable fabric that was color fast and could take much abuse. The updated shirt is subject to fading, especially when a fabric cleaner (OxiClean spray) is used before washing. I have 6 old shirts that I have worn for almost 5 years with "no fading." I have 2 updated shirts that were only two months old and experienced significant fading.
The old shirts had lots of room in the shoulder area for turning, bending, etc. The updated shirt with the "slim" design causes restrictions in movement.
I do NOT recommend this shirt for anyone who really needs the technical features of the original Air Strip shirt.

This thing looks cool, but it's a frickin' boat. Prepare to go swiming. I'm 6'1", 180lbs and I figured a Medium would be playing it save. No siree. Instead I received a shirt that I could also use as a tent in a pinch. Or you could use it as a tarp to cover a raft or boat. Or as a sleeping bag. Just don't expect to wear it out in public or the wind might catch it and blow you away.
Order down several sizes, or be prepared to bring it to a tailor to cinch it.
