These are lovely boots, and since I wear tights or trouser socks, no problem with the slit in front that another reviewer who wore leggings found problematic. I actually like the front vee because it contributes to a slimmer look. I ordered two of these to try, in a size 7W and 7WW. I have wide feet, but they are not "fat" feet, meaning that I need a wide footbed across the toe area. When I tried these on and compared them, what I find is that there is more material in the upper, but the footbed (sole and intersole) appear to be the exact same size! I removed an intersole for each width and laid them on top of each other and they appear to be an exact match. It is not surprising that shoe makers would think that giving us more material on the top of the shoe would make it fit better, because it does give us greater depth around the toes, and some people need this. But those of us who have a wide bone structure still experience a cramping together of the toes in the WW width, even though we can move our toes upward and downward. And we have to put up with too much material in the upper portion of the shoe, which makes the fit a bit sloppy and unstable. The 7W look perfect on my feet, but the toe box is a tad too narrow. The 7WW gives me extra up and down wiggle room for my toes (which is somewhat more comfortable than the 7W) but the fit around the top of the shoe is looser and not as attractive as the 7W. I sure wish that shoe makers made a true extra wide footbed in the toe area, instead of adding more material to the top and calling it a wider shoe. However, I really like these booties and they fit better than most brands, so I will be keeping the 7W and hope that they will stretch slightly with a little wear so the toes become perfectly comfortable. Other than the slight toe squeeze they are very comfortable while walking.
