I agree with other reviews generally but can add that I much preferred the Texas (regular) leather to the Greta nubuck (suede-like) leather. I'm generally a matte leather over glossy leather girl, but I found the nubuck in these to be not soft and a bit cheap looking. I was worried they would wear in the toes as they seemed a bit shiny there already as if they were going to look "distressed" which is not my preference. I wanted a more tailored look. The black Texas leather is stunning and better than the photo- not as slouchy when on the foot. It is soft leather but feels like it will be more durable- similar to the look and feel of my Aquatalia riding boots rather than the soft but fragile feel of a soft leather like Arche or some Munro. I don't think in person it's quite as glossy leather as pictured, which for me is a plus. The front ankle was softer in the Texas leather and didn't rub like the Greta (nubuck) which I found to be stiff in the ankle. The boot looks and wears very differently in the two leathers! My fave way to wear is cuff flipped up- with a little turn down at front zipper corner so it's like a tiny asymmetrical cuff. I bought size 38 which is my size in closed toe Dansko, Birkenstocks sandals and most European shoes. I have plenty of room in toe. I wear mostly 7 1/2 (some 7) in sandals and mostly 7 1/2 (some 8) in closed toe shoes.

When I saw the price on these, I vowed to only keep them if they were perfect. I kept them! The leather is soft and comfortable. The style allows them to be paired with leggings or worn under jeans or even worn with my Eileen Fisher dress skinny pants. Great, great boots! When I first got them they felt snug. I removed the air jet insole and wore them without until the leather relaxed a bit. Now -- perfect! I am 5'5" and weigh 160 pounds, average ankles. I do have a wide toe box and hate to have my toes crowded into a tight space. These boots allow my toes to move! Love them!

These are attractive and comfortable. Not clunky, very classic. I have skinny feet and narrow heels and I ordered a 39 because that is my usual size in Euro sizing. I am often a 38 in sandals. The 39 is too big so I am exchanging them. The size chart indicated that for Mephisto, a 39 is equivalent to a size 9 US. So I should have followed the size chart but another reviewer said the size chart was off.

Fantastic pair of boots that go with everything I own. Pricey, but the best money I've spent, seeing as how I've been wearing them nonstop (every day) from the day I received them. It's a little ridiculous.

Some of the best money I have spent on shoes. These are so incredibly comfortable! I have walked for 10 hours in them at a time while traveling. They run a tad wide but nothing crazy. Very cute with tucked in skinny jeans or even long skirts. Yes, they are pricey but worth every penny!

These boots are wonderful. I have a hard time finding comfortable shoes because of multiple foot surgeries. Right out of the box, I wore them all over the mall. A comfortably wide toe box (so many shoes and boots squeeze a the front end), good arch support. They are expensive, but worth it.

I suffered an ankle/soft tissue injury almost a year ago and am still not healed. These are the only shoes I have found that feel comfortable on my feet, give my ankles the stability they need, and also look stylish. I've tried almost every "comfort" brand, and tons of flat shoe. This give the best stability. It figures that the expensive shoe is the one that works! Ugg...I'd like to get all of the colors. The only other shoes I can wear that don't cause stress after about an hour are my gym shoes, but they're so ugly with my outfits. At first these were snug in the toes, but they do stretch out slightly. These seem to run true to size. I normally wear an 8 - 8.5, and I take an 8 in these, with thick socks. The arch support could be better, and I'm not sure yet if I'll have room for 3/4 inserts, but I'll try after I stretch these out a little more.

I absolutely love these boots. I wore them around the house for about a week trying to decide whether to keep them, then carried them to the office to wear on that carpeting for a day before finally deciding I could not live without them. They were super comfortable right from the beginning, but it took me that long to realize that the price was with it, since they fit so much better than any of the many other pairs of boots I have tried since April (thanks Zappos for the free shipping!). The leather is buttery soft, they are stylish, the brown color is rich and luxurious. I am happy to say my boot hunt is over! I usually wear a 7W and have nasty bunions so I absolutely cannot tolerate a boot that is tight across the toes. I got these in both the 7W and 7.5 W and kept the 7.5W so I could comfortably wear a sock with them. I am 5'3" and wanted a boot without a killer heel but still stylish and not clunky-looking. My daughters call these my Peter Pan boots because they look so cute. Fifteen stars for Mephisto!

This price is steep for a little pair of boots, but I got over the sticker shock when I put these babies on. I have major problems with my feet and rarely find footwear that is both comfortable and cute. I wore these boots for 12 hours straight and was delighted to be virtually pain free. I kept sneaking a peak at them during the day to see again how handsome they are. The inner sole is worthless, which is not an issue for me because I use orthotics.

These shoes run small, and they are narrow. I had to wear them in the house for a day to tell if I could keep them or not. But they are comfortable and have good arch support.

Not the color I see in the photo. These boots are a dull brown - not reddish brown.

I really wanted to like these because they look great and the low, flexible bottom seems very comfortable, but they don't fit my wide foot. I have several pairs of Birks with the 38.5 Euro size and I measured to be sure, so I know got the right size. I wear an 8 W or 8.5 in Clarks and 8.5 W in some other brands that sell wide. I took a chance on these because other reviewers mentioned room for bunions. I don't have those, but hoped it meant the toe box was roomy enough. Not to be. They are very nice looking, so if you have a normal width you may have success.

Hi, I bought these boots After I have returned three different pairs. They were are expensive, but they hurt my feet (at 58 I need to be comfortable). I love the feel of these boots; I was able to put that on right away and walk comfortably. I love the feel of the leather and the style.

I am usually a 7 1/2 but I followed another reviewer's advice and bought the same size that I wear in Sanita clogs, which is a 38/8. I use an orthodic, so the little bit of extra room was welcome. They are stylish and comfortable. I only wish that they came in more colors!

These definitely require a little breaking in (it felt like the arch of my foot was glued to the top of the boot initially), but once you've worn them for a bit, it's like walking on clouds. Very pricey, but one of the best boots I've ever worn.

Love these boots. Thanks to Zappo's free shipping I tried on 3 sizes. 11 was too big. 10 (my usual size) was too small. 10.5 just right for urban winter walking. I love the way they look with high quality leather and elegant styling. But the big deal is how comfortable they are. I plan to waterproof them and treat them well.

These boots are beautifully made of high quality black leather, and a smart turnover ankle style.The removable insole is a nice touch. The size 9 does seem to be a little narrower in the toe area and very slightly shorter than the last size 9 Mephisto boots I bought from Zappos. Perhaps it's just that the older pair have stretched out. I plan to keep these boots, and if need be, will use my trusty stretchers, MISERERWE, sold on Amazon, very useful for stretching shoe length and width. I previously wrote a review, but I wanted to add that these black leather boots work very well from touring the cities during the day to evening wear. In the daytime I wore a sweater and black leggings, and in the evening I wore black leggings with a silk top and necklace. These boots perfectly transitioned from day to evening. Perfect when trying to travel light with the luggage weight restrictions. Over the years, I’ve ordered 4 pairs of these in various colors and they never disappoint.

BEST TRAVELING BOOTS! I walked all over the world in these boots (I’m not exaggerating). With a good pair of thick socks, I never had callouses on my feet. I walked over 5 miles a day and never had a problem. I purchased these boots in the black and hazelnut leather. It rained and it poured, and I was comfy and dry in my boots. Russia, Prague, Budapest, Shanghai, and everything in between. These boots are phenomenal! No regrets.

These boots are entirely too expensive; however, they are also the most comfortable shoes I've tried on in recent memory. Keeping them.

Runs small

I ended up keeping these over two pairs of ankle boots I tried from La Canadienne, which has been my favorite brand for boots over the last 10 years (and cost even more than these babies). I like the unusually soft leather of these and the fact that you can fold over the top or not. I will have to add an insole, however, because I find that my feet slide around a bit (I usually wear a 38: am sometimes 7 1/2, sometimes 8) and also the soles, while flexible, could be a bit thicker.

Beautiful boots. I got a half size larger in order to wear socks with them. Very stylish and versatile. The inner soles can be removed to create more room around the toes. The boots are very comfortable.
