Well I bought it for myself. In the pic it looked much thicker but when I got it it was extremely thin so I had to return it but I do plan on getting another one that is slightly thicker

Jacket material, look, etc., is good but sleeves are short and the elastic cuffs make it super uncomfortable and restrict movement. My proportions are normal so it's not an issue with being fat, skinny or having long or short legs, arms or body.

This is a great jacket - it's light but warm and packs for travel. I've worn it in sub zero temperatures and have stayed warm. My one issue is the stitching snags and comes undone. After a month or two my jacket is a mess of stray strings and missing stitching. Seems to catch mostly on its own zippers which quite quickly yank the threads out.

Does not fit as well as another large NF thermoball coat I purchased last year! I am somewhat disappointed.

Loved the jacket... until it rained. Turns out, it isn't waterproof at all. Shoulders and back are soaked (have-to-ring-out-my-sweater soaked) after 15 min in a rainstorm. But if you are looking for a super lightweight snow-proof jacket, that is warm enough but never toasty, this is great. I can imagine it would be great for skiing. Just remember your umbrella if it rains.

This is great casual piece. Nothing more! It lacks an inner or chest pocket. The inner pocket waist cinches are very hard to pull from inside the pocket. The newer designed pockets are at a slant with is nice, while a pack belt will cover the up. The inner sleeves panel stitching felt very cheap. Its a basic fold over and it leaves the extra material to rub and irradiate the inner bicep. It is lacking performance function in this model. It is okay at best, while there are other brand models that offer more for the same price.

I love north face jackets and have been wearing their larges for years (6' 195lbs, lean and athletic). Bought a thermoball in large and it is huge in the body, I could fit a another person in there with me, I look like I'm a sack of potatoes. I went to a store to exchange for a medium but that fits like it's painted onto me. Did their sizing change? I understand I could sinch the waist but it still looks ill fitting. Bummed, it's a nice jacket otherwise. I fear north face is just a brand not cut for my body type anymore?

I purchased this jacket in a light blue and it has a navy blue liner. Nice jacket and functional. However I noticed after a few months the colour of the jacket starting to go weird. Upon closer look, the colour along all the seams was getting darker from the rest of the jacket. I figure it must be the navy liner bleeding through and this quilted look has a lot of threading. I washed it and no improvement. So the little sections are blue but all the thread lines are bleeding dark blue. The store manager doesn't consider this a functional defect so no warranty help. Now just a weird looking jacket. I expect an item of this price to perform and look better. DO NOT BUY THIS JACKET UNLESS IT IS ALL BLACK.

Really enjoyed the jacket during two winters (casual use) , until poorly designed cheap zips started slowly destroying the jacket. I though ,at this price range (200+$), the jacket lasted for a longer period of time. Little bit disappointed.....

While I am only 6' 3" (there are a lot of guys my height), finding decent quality clothes that fit is often difficult. Most clothing requires both Big & Tall, not just tall. While this jacket showed a lot of promise for size, more articulation would help BUT the biggest problem was the thinness of the material. I love North Face products but am limited for size and hope more time is spent to remedy this.

I have another Northface jacket that's a 2X and it fits and zips perfect. I love the material on this one but its too small to be able to zip it. Very disappointing.

Received this jacket as a gift. I was looking for a synthetic insulation layer and this seemed perfect. Unfortunately, there are major issues. First, I actually like that the wind can cut through the jacket. If I wanted windproof, I'd pop a shell over this jacket. Very breathable jacket. Dries quickly when wet. It comes in a ton of colors so it feels personal, even when I see this jacket everywhere. Now, the negatives. This jacket has the typical TNF boxy fit. This is cut for tourists (you know the ones) shopping in a mall. Far too much extra material in the stomach area. Additionally, there's something about this jacket that makes it look shabby. Something about the way the material stretches at the baffle stitching and pools at the bottom of each baffle, the jacket looks perpetually soggy. So, it doesn't make the cut as a functional piece in my gear rotation nor does it work as a fashion piece. The concept of this jacket and thermoball excites me. Maybe future updates to the jacket will solve my issues, or maybe I'm just an outlier and everybody else loves it (seems to be that everybody else loves it reading the reviews, but review systems on a first-party website with user provided feedback have their own issues with self-selection, biases, and such). So, high hopes for the future versions but definitely not feeling this jacket right now.

Really wanted my boyfriend to have a nice stylish yet warm jacket for Christmas. Unfortunately, it was too small. He needed a 3XL and they are not available in the stores to try on. So I had to return it.

The jacket is warm, feels soft and light but the sleeve width for the jacket is completely wrong for the fit of the jacket. It needs to be narrower and not so big at the bicep.

Went out searching for a jacket for the winter at Sports Authority and stumbled across this jacket. I was immediately impressed with the texture and warmth and good look of the jacket, bought it on the spot. After I had worn the jacket for no more than 6 hours across 3 days, I noticed the stitching had already started to snag and become loose. Looks nice, feels great, unfortunately poor quality for at least my jacket, hopefully just a fluke.

I so want to like this product. North face has done a fantastic job on the insulation material. Wore just this on a chilly 10F NYC night and I was super warm. But the outer shell is very very poorly built. It started ripping just after 3-4 days. A 15D-1.16OZ shell is no good for a day to day jacket. It just can not sustain day to day wear. I really wish North Face works on the shell.

I had been looking at getting the Patagonia Nano Puff, but then this jacket came out and I decided to go with the Thermoball because it sounded like it would be even better. Not so much. The front zipper was busted and would only unzip half way. The right pocket zipper wouldn't unzip at all. I was able to get the jacket on and the length and arms were a good fit, but the shoulders were a bit wide and large. Overall, it looks nice, but the quality is sub-par. Not what I expected from The North Face. Severely disappointed. I will definitely be taking this back and going with the Nano Puff.

I had to replace one because the stitching came undone on the outside, which is important for the aesthetic of the jacket. Replacement came and within a week a couple of the threads are coming undone again! Makes me nervous to be active in the coat.
