Incredibly light weight and warm. A great jacket for active life outside in the teens.

Fit quality is very good. I was disappointed with the weight at first, I thought it was too light. However it has turned out to be a great layering piece. It has also been a great coat on it't on here in Ga. I would have loved to have had an exterior (vertical) chest pocket for sun glasses-- but that would be my only dislike. The appearance of the coat it's self is teriffic, over all I think it is a garment.

Bought this for my teenage son. Amazingly light. Seems very warm - we'll have to see as winter arrives. The grey color is beautiful! Goes with everything.

This jacket is really close to perfect. It keeps warm outside and I can wear inside as well. It is like a thermos. Just keeps it right :-). I wish it were just a little bit less shiny but it does not bother me that much. I truly am enjoying it and I am going to buy another one with a hood. It does everything a heavier jacket will do without the bulk.

I initially bought this jacket for it to be my every day, just throw on and go jacket for around town, and for a warm ski day if the opportunity would arise. I was hoping that it would be warm enough for myself to be comfortable to about -15C... but man was I ever wrong... Yesterday I was cleaning off snow, shovelling, and just walking in ~-20C with a pretty decent windchill of ~-30C and i was completely and totally and wonderfully comfortable. I was blown away by how warm this jacket is considering how incredibly thin and light it is. I am so happy I purchased this jacket and would recommend it for anyone that is looking for an impressively light, yet incredibly warm jacket for whatever life throws at you

I wasn't so sure about this jacket being that it is amazingly light weight but I gave it a good test at the Grand Canyon during Veterans Day weekend. With only a flannel and a t-shirt underneath the thermal balls, i was very warm for three days of hiking and cold nights around the fire. it was a bit warm in the sun so i packed it up a few times and clipped it to my pack. Great jacket!

I love this jacket. Very light and warm but not too warm that it can't be worn on temperate days or even indoors. Add a shell and proper undershirt and it should work fine for sub zero temps. The fit on me is perfect. Medium size and I'm 5'9" and 150#s. I like the drawstring on the bottom to snug it up. It should be perfect for airline travel when you need to pack light. Just roll it up and stow it. My only concern might be the zippers based upon one review. Mine work fine but I'll watch it. Regardless, North Face has a great lifetime warranty.

I bought this jacket a while ago getting ready for the cold Minnesota winter and found that it was lighter than it looked but that does not dwarf its amazing heat retention. Wearing this jacket alone is not warm enough for a cold winters day and that's okay because its a fall weight jacket, but combined with a fleece underneath and a wind shell on top its as warm as any other jacket on the market in it's price range, probably even warmer. I proud to say it's the investment I've made since the North Face sleeping bag I bought last year.

This is the lightest and warmest jacket I have ever owned. It is so light you think you are not carrying anything. It is remarkably warm for its weight. It also folds up to a very small roll. You need this jacket for your collection!

Nice Jacket. The only thing I would change is adding an inside zip pocket. Already Bought one for my 10 yr old as well.

I bought this jacket in TNF Red a couple weeks ago prepping for a late season trip to Mt. Whitney. Honestly the biggest selling point was the color and claim that the jacket performed better in damp conditions than regular down. It was the perfect weight/size for a mid layer, but I was skeptical about the warmth because its so ridiculously light and fairly thin. After 10 minutes on the mountain I was blown away. While the jacket retains heat during normal light wear, this thing comes into its own during high activity. If you're generating heat, this jacket traps it, locks it in and keeps you cocooned in warmth. I used it in temps between 10F-20F in dry-to-snowy conditions and would highly recommend it as an essential piece of gear.

Fantastic as a stand-alone or layering piece. I live in Calgary, Canada - the weather can switch on a dime. This piece is comfortable from -15 to +20 C - it truly is that versatile. My go-to for camping, backpacking, aircraft travel (warm, lightweight and small), and just hanging out. Its temperature/comfort range is truly remarkable. Only issue (and this is new) is sizing - I purchased my second one last month (mens large, just like my original bought 3 years ago), and it was too big - chest shoulders and sleeves - but sold it to my slightly larger camping buddy. Check TNF's sizing charts carefully and/or try on before purchase. Still, and all in all, the best jacket you can buy in its category, hands down.

I'm ALWAYS hot!! This jacket keeps you warm when it's cold but because it's so lightweight you can unzip and not be a sweaty mess when it's not as cold. Bought a second for myself (with hood) and one for my wife and son...

I was overall quite satisfied with this product. It is a comfortable, stylish, and useful jacket - it carries out its purpose well. There are good point about this jacket, as well as a few nitpicks I came across. The good: The good parts of the jacket outweigh the bad. First off, it looks nice. The cubic "puffiness" looks unique compared to the classic horizontal lines of "puffiness" featured on most North Face jackets. This jacket stands out against those, adding a bit of flair. Further, this would be an excellent jacket to take travelling, as its size when condensed is easy to pack. The most important aspect of this jacket is its warmth. The "Thermoball" technology must be pretty effective, as this jacket can keep you pretty toasty. I've found myself sweating in it even on 30 - 40 degree days. When the wind isn't bitter and blowing, this will keep you plenty warm. The bad: There are a few negative aspects of the Thermoball jacket as well. First off, this jacket does not keep you warm in temperatures 20 degrees or below, and does not break the wind. This wasn't my intended purpose in purchasing the jacket, but buyer beware this will not keep you warm during the bitterest, coldest months of a Northern winter. Additionally, I have a bit of a nitpicky problem with the design of the jacket itself. There is a drawstring on the very bottom that is a bit too small in proportion to the rest of the jacket and cinches in an uncomfortable way. While I have a size small Thermoball jacket, the rest of the jacket (collar, sleeves, torso) fits me perfectly - except for the very bottom cinching drawstring. It just looks and feels a bit awkward. This would be the only thing I would change about it. Overall: The jacket performs the job it is intended to. It keeps you warm in cooler temperatures, looks stylish, and condenses into a smaller size for travel and convenience. If you live in a relatively warmer climate that doesn't get bitterly cold in the winter, or if you do a lot

Very thin and light weight, but surprisingly warm. It protects against wing and is great for active people. The only downside is it fits a little larger than my other north face jackets.

I use it casually. It's lightweight and comfortable and it keeps me warm for being a lighter type of jacket.
