I wear a narrow width. When I tried these on, something kept bothering me on the inside of my feet. I put my finger in to see if my socks were bunched up, but the issue was the tongue. It's really wide. It wraps far down the side of the shoe and rubs against the side of the foot. I could see blisters in my future, so I reboxed the shoes and sent them back. The tongue issue may not be a problem for wider feet. The design might be using the same size tongue for the 2A shoe, when it should have been trimmed.

This is a nice shoe but I found the Drew Flare was a better shoe for an extremely wide foot using orthotics. The Flare has removal inner pads that can easily be removed to create more room.

These shoes looked good, had great cushioning, and would have been a good choice but the placement of the reinforced material and the stiffness of the toe box caused great pain and large blisters after the fourth wearing. Yes, I have very wide toes, but have always found New Balance 8½ 4E shoes to be a good fit. Not these, however! I will continue to wear my old ones with mesh-like material on the toe box until I find a different, more comfortable replacement pair.

This New Balance does run Narrow. That is exactly what I needed, especially in the heel. It is a little wider in the toe, but not a problem. The shoe has good arch support.

I really like these shoes. I wear the same size in these as in every other pair of shoes that I have so I am not sure why the other reviewers had problems. I really like that I can get this soft blue in my ginormous foot size. They provide good arch support too. I love New Balance.

Person I bought them for said they were very comfortable just wish they came 1/2 size larger for days she's on her feet a lot. Nice clean look.

Used the 856 (the 857 predecessor) for years (size 7 2 E); purchased first pair of 857 and immediately they hurt my feet. So disappointed. I could always just slip right into the 856 and head out to the court (use this shoe as my tennis shoe). I will try the 4 E to see if it helps but very concerned. I cannot wear the 857s I purchased.

I have ordered this shoe for several years now and in the past I have always been satisfied. But the WX857 seems to be too stiff. I am experiencing pain in one of my knees and the top of my right foot because the shoe doesn't allow my foot much room to move. I hope the next version is better.

I am so sorry to say this, but this is by far the worst shoe that I've ever worn in my life. I can honestly tell you that there are no words for the pain my feet endured the first time I wore these shoes that were designed by someone who seemed to have honed the fine art of torture. When I dragged myself into my house after being out for just a few hours and complained to my husband, he suggested that I give them another shot and try them without the insoles when I go out again. So ok, I'm game! On my second and final try with these shoes the pain was SO BAD that I thought my feet had gone on a one way bus trip to the fourth circle of HE** and I just went along for the ride. The pain was truly unbearable and for one irrational moment, I thought my husband was in league with the shoe guy or girl. PLEASE, TAKE MY WARNING TO HEART!!!

I am returning these shoes. The right foot toe box around the little toe area was not made smooth and caused a toe blister. I wear a 12 N shoe, and always order New Balance because they fit so well. These shoes are not USA made, and the flaw in the right toe box is a sign of poor quality control in the making of the shoe.

I am so disappointed with New Balance and these sneakers. I loved the earlier model number 856 and was sure that these would follow in their footsteps, but alas, they are made smaller in the same size that I always wear. Specifically, the interior length is shorter; my orthotics that fit easily in the 856s would not go into this style. Skimping on material does not make for repeat business.

I normally get the 856 but they didn't have my size so I thought I'd try this shoe. I didn't like it at all. It was extremely tight across the widest part of my foot (toe box?). I wear a B (medium) size but the shoe wasn't made medium. This was the first time I have ever had a problem with any New Balance shoe and I've been buying New Balance for several years.

The WR1123 is a better fit. I'm not sure if this is an older version, but I fit in a 4E in the 1123 but I can't even get my foot in this 857. I tried this one because the 1123 is no longer carried. Whelp at least shipping is free both ways. :)

New Balance is my go to brand for activewear shoes as they make a narrow width....and Zappos carries them!! Hooray for me.

I have bought this shoe a few times. It has becoming my go-to shoe for working out and just general walking. I have a narrow fit and the fit is great. The support is excellent. The insole is removable and I put in my orthotic. I have some knee and low back issues and I don't hurt with this shoe! The inner roll bar helps tremendously with support and offering assistance with pronation. The only drawback is the style. I really wish they would offer it in some cool colors and designs, but for the support, etc., I can get over it.

I HAVE A VERY NARROW FOOT AND THIS SHOE IS THE BEST ONE I HAVE FOUND FOR WALKING AND WORKING OUT. THANK YOU ZAPPOS FOR CARRYING NARROW SHOES.

True fit, great stability and works well with Orthodics.

These shoes are comfortable right out of the box. I have extreme bunions and have to wear orthotodics. They fit perfectly in the shoe after removing the insert that comes with the shoe. Can't wear any other brand of tennis shoe. Love them!

This is a good everyday shoe if you are on your feet a lot. I have neuromas and have to wear orthotics. Two things I need in a shoe is the insole be removable and extra support in the ball of the foot. I've been wearing this model for years.

If you've been wearing the 928 and want something a bit more stylish, this is your shoe. But remember to go up a size as all athletic shoes run short.

I love these shoes! They give great support on the soles of your feet and also on the sides of your feet. They are very comfortable.

Having arthritic feet, the foot doctor told me these are the best shoes for my problem. And they are, I've been buying them for a few years, they're great for the support, the ankle stability, the comfort in walking. I highly recommend them!

I have weird feet, my left is smaller one half size than my right. So, I have to buy the larger size to accommodate my right foot. But, I have constant pain in the right one as well. However; with New Balance, the pain is much less and I feel a lot of support with these particular shoes. I have tried cheaper shoes, but no pain relief in sight. Any hesitation regarding these shoes, dismiss them and be assured these are the one to buy.
