Love the shoe and my 5 year old son wears them everyday. He’s super active and they suit his rough and tumble ways. ONLY PROBLEM - Was a real pain trying to figure out the correct size, without Zappo free returns, would not have been possible. My kid wears a toddler 13 in every other shoe but with these, he fits an 11.5. Strangely enough, this brand’s smaller sizes seem to be true to size, toddler 9 and below, for younger kids.

These completely fell apart after about 1 month of regular wear. I absolutely do not recommend!

Regarding size: The measurement listed in centimeters on the shoe seems to be for the foot clearance within. For a size 8, this is 15.5 cm. Size 8.5 = 16 cm, 9 = 16.5 cm, 9.5 = 17 cm clearance.
So, for my son's foot which I measured as 15.5 cm long, I found success with a size 9 Tsukihoshi Kaz which was described as 16.5 cm on the shoe -- gives him room to grow but not too loose. (I've gathered from reviews that this changes in sizes above 10.)
As for the shoe itself, the Kaz is awesome. Kid said they were very comfortable, and he flew around the house demonstrating how fast they made him. He's small with regular (not wide) feet. Shoe is beautiful too, in the blue/tangerine colors we ended up with.

The shoes are great but at zappos web site Little Kid 10.5 stands for 27 in Europe
I ordered 10.5, but came 28.5.
If you are more familiar with the European size you might get a bigger shoe

Love these shoes! My daughter has a pair and got these for my son.
Perfect "minimal shoe" - zero heel lift, flexible sole, wide toe box.
They are super cute and easy to put on - the velcro strap does not need to go through a hole and loop back, and the tongue is fixed, so won't scrunch down.
I haven't put them through the wash yet, but they go super muddy one day and the mud just caked off after it dried and they looked fine.
Will keep ordering as they grow. They do run about a size larger than normal, so order down.

Love these shoes!!! Perfect for my chunky-footed son who previously could only fit into extra-wide New Balance. These are super cute and wash amazingly well in the washer. Highly recommend.

My son is a super active kid who happens to wear a hinged AFO on his right foot. Even extra-wide shoes wouldn’t work for him. Tsukihoshis work great with the insole removed, and aren’t too wide on his left “typical” foot. Perfect, and durable for a 6 year old who is on the go all the time!

I have been buying Tsukihoshi shoes in the Kaz model for 5 years now and NEVER had an issue. First, you will need to measure your child's feet as the size is based on "measured feet", so either use cm or inches, you need to measure your child's feet just how they will at any respectable shoe selling place due to brands discrepancy on shoe size vs feet length, which it is expected for any brand not made in the U.S. My kiddo is active (not a wild animal! :-)) and wears orthopedics (smos), so we remove the insole and the shoes hold perfectly to the stretch the plastic puts on them, so if they can stand getting in/out or smos daily, attend school, play outdoors, walk/run- they can definitely stand normal use and wear. I marked on the photo where the wear is which is solely due to the use of smos. This model is not waterproof, so if you are looking for a shoe that will protect against water or a child that only uses the same pair of shoes every day, this one may not be the best for you. My kiddo has 3 of these for outdoors, and because we don't use shoes inside the home and due to his smos use, we also have 2 pairs we use indoors. Once he outgrows them, we can give them as hand-me-downs to others who use smos because they are still in excellent condition. We have bought most of them from Zappos and all colors available! The 2 on the right in photo, will be donated as don't fit them anymore and have no external damage whatsoever.

These are adorable and very comfy. The second pair I’ve bought for my grandson. He’s a tall 5 year old and bought the 10.5; he would normally wear size 11 or 11.5 depending on style. These run a bit large, but Zappos makes returns and exchanges super easy until you find the right fit.
My grandson loves these and wears them constantly. They’re easy for him to put on (tongue is attached) and take off.
Though a bit pricey for kids shoes- definitely worth it!

My 4yo son has enormous, wide, water ski feet. Tsukihoshi is the only brand that runs big enough that I don’t have to order special widths. He doesn’t trip over them and the inside is soft and has some give—as opposed to other athletic brands that have a stiff insole that bothered his heels. He loves them and they’ve held up well considering he’s a kid who is notoriously hard on shoes. 11/10. Highly recommend.

These are our second pair in this brand, my son LOVED his old Tsukihoshi shoes. I loved them because they seem to fit really well to his toddler lifestyle and antics. I really like that this shoe and his old ones have wide toe boxes that allow his toes to splay when needed, which I think is important for growing feet.
When deciding on what shoes to wear between Vans, Pedipeds and Converse, he always chooses his Tsukihoshi's. He out grew his other Tsukihoshi shoes so I decided to get him these in a 7, Zappos recommended ordering half a size smaller which we did but the shoe fit him true to size which is not what I wanted, he's due for a growth spurt so in a few weeks these will be too small. In his old Tsukihoshi shoes we ordered half a size smaller as recommended and they fit a tad big which is what I wanted, those shoes fit well and still look good after a few machine washings but hes out grown them now.
I ordered an 8 for him which should fit a tad big but should last us until the end of this year... hopefully :)

I ordered these shoes for my four-year-old son in the blue and the orange. They are so cute and sporty and I love the pop of color and so does he. I've been buying New Balance, because he needs wide shoes, but after reading reviews it sounded like these were good for wide feet, and they have worked out perfectly. He wears a 12 and I had to exchange for an 11.5. The 12 was coming right off his feet, so they run large--at least in our case. I will continue to order this brand in the future and recommend them (while these are his first pair of Tsukihoshis, his older sister has been wearing them for years.)

I have always used this brand when my kids wear this brand when they are little because it is a dependable, quality shoe. I'm not crazy about the look of this shoe but my son sure does. That's all that matters. So I'm reviewing based upon the quality of the shoe and his opinion of the look.

My kindergartner needed new shoes, and these were the ones he picked. The first pair we got in his size was too big to make it worth having him go ahead and wear them anyway, so I exchanged them for the next size down. The next size down was what I had been looking for - a pair that fit with a bit of growing room. So I would say they run just a bit large compared to other brands we've bought. (The description does also state they run a bit large, but I will admit I didn't notice that when I ordered.) He's been wearing them for a few weeks now, and has been very happy with them. He can get them on and off with no trouble, says they're comfortable, and so far they still look great. I would definitely recommend these shoes!

Thank goodness I found this brand! My 3-year-old has wide toes and narrow heels - nothing fit. I tried so many brands of shoes: Nike, Adidas, PediPeds, Striderite, etc. and in every case he would wear them for a few weeks and then complain that they hurt, even if the shoes were a size to big. After searching Zappos reviews I finally tried Tsukihoshi and am happy to report that they fit perfectly! My son has worn these shoes for a full month and they are the only shoes that he will put on. Despite constant wear, through rain and mud, the shoes look almost new. Based on all the reviews that suggested these ran large, I bought them in his normal size and 1/2 size smaller, but we ended up keeping his normal size because that was what fit. Yes, I realize that these shoes are expensive for a kid (especially when they grow so fast) but I'd much rather buy one pair of shoes that fit really well, than buy three or four pairs of shoes that cause pain.

Sizing is strange on these shoes. Is way off even other Tsukihoshi styles. and impossible to find an actual size chart for these, including I've written to Tsukihoshi and gotten nowhere. So, trial and error, this is some of the sizing:
US cm
11.5 19.0
10 17.5
9.5 17.0
9 16.5
Width is marked as EE and description is that these are a wide style, but significantly narrower than Mako style.

I would love to rate the shoes higher but for the price that you pay the shoes do not seem like they are going to hold up for a second child to wear. They are fantastic for one child use. The bottom is majority foam. That keeps it lightweight but not durable. There are small accents of orange rubber for gripping on the bottom of the shoe. The flexibility is very nice along with the ease of putting the shoe on and strapping it down. These shoes make any toddler look real hip ?. My son would be typically need a size 12 in the Plae brand but I did go with an 11.5 after reading reviews on this shoe. I have about a thumbs space from the tip on these new shoes. I think that was a good call. I have not gotten to test if they are slippery when wet nor how they do in the wash. I am optimistic that they should preform the same as Plae since they are similar in price. They are wider than Plae but will fit fine still. I think it will work well for all for sizes.

I loved this shoe when I received it; however, I ordered one size down based on reviews. As a result, the shoe barely fit with a sock on so I will need to return.

Amazing sneakers for my toddlers. They have everything. Grippy flexible soles and easy to clean. I had heard of this brand from a popular Birkenstock store where I live and was happy to find the brand on Zappos. Will buy more as my boys grow.

My son has been wearing these daily for about 6 months and they still look new. I am so impressed by how well they've held up under the abuse of an active seven year old. My son has never complained of sore feet despite wearing them for extended periods, going on long walks with our dog, attending school gym class, etc. Would certainly purchase again and recommend to others.

Perfect shoes for my preschooler who has a very high instep (thick feet). They're supportive, lightweight and flexible. They've held up beautifully to daily wear. I just keep having to buy the next size up every 6 months. I tried to find cheaper shoes but everything else is trash in comparison!

Kid loves these and immediately started running around in them. It’s very hot but he chooses these over his sandals ever since they arrived.
