Many before have written the same thing - and I should have paid attention. The Merrell Siren Sport 2 is somehow different (and not in a good way) from the original Merrell Siren Sport. I never had a breaking in period before now, and after 1 month of wearing these shoes, enough is enough. As others indicated, there is something rubbing the pinky toes that leads to discomfort. Right out of the box and in the house, they were fine, but upon going for lengthy walks, not fine. I read that others tried for a larger size and width, yet that did not help either. I want another pair like my old ones, but not sure whether to try again or not. Not sure if this is a quality control issue, as many people seem to be happy as well with them. But they clearly do not fit like my old Merrell Siren Sports - the length also seem smaller as if I'd need to order up a half-size than I used to. Disappointed.

I initially walked around the house after I received these and thought they were fine but when I actually used them for hiking I was disappointed. There was some tiny piece of fabric sticking out by the little toes that eventually caused a blister - not a good thing when hiking. I patched up and continued wearing them as I had no choice and just found them to be less than comfortable throughout the remainder of hikes.

I am very sad to return a pair of Merrells. I have been wearing Merrells for over 10 years and have multiple styles. They hurt to put on. I cannot put my finger on it, but I think that they are stiff. I am accustomed to no break-in and these would not fall into that category.

These are just awful compared to what they have always been. I have been buying merrell sirens for years and have had at least a dozen pair and they are nothing like they used to be. The leather pieces have been changed to plastic making them look cheap and have no give at all. They are extremely stiff and uncomfortable now unlike all the previous pairs that were perfect right out of the box with no break in time at all. They are wider so no longer fit as well and because they are now plastic and so stiff I needed to try a size up which was still uncomfortable so I returned them. They are not worth the money now.

This is the 4th pair of Siren Sport shoes that I have owned - I love them so much that I keep ordering them. I am a daily hiker and wear down the soles in about 18-24 months. The rest of the shoe holds up well, I just wear the soles all the way down! Unfortunately, Merrell changed from natural material (leather and suede) to synthetic materials in the Siren Sport 2 version. Terrible move. The shoe is awful. Zappos was absolutely wonderful in working with me through a couple of exchanges before I figured out what the problem was. It seems that where the various materials come together on the outside of the shoe near the front where it laces up, cuts into the side of my toe. No amount of breaking them in helped. I just ordered the WTPF version of the Siren Sport as they are made from leather and nubuck - so, my fingers are crossed that these will work! I also called Merrell customer service directly, and they confirmed the change to synthetic materials in the Siren Sport 2 model. They also said that they've been getting complaints about it. I hope they go back to the leather and suede because I absolutely used to love this shoe! Bad move Merell, bad move.

These hurt. I loved wearing the Siren Sport, but this new version. Siren Sport 2 are narrower, shorter, and stiff.

I have been trying to find the right walking shoes for a trip to Sicily and have been diligent with ordering this one and that one, hoping to find what works best. After many efforts, it seemed that the Siren Sport 2 would have just the perfect lug depth (sole) and support for cobblestone streets and hiking in the ruins...not too much (All Out Blaze, Moab Ventilator) and not too little (Proterra Vim Sport, Azura). At last, I thought! Yet, I don't know what it is about the lacing system but these shoes are laced all the way down near your toes and I found them very uncomfortable, tight and cutting on the sides of my feet (even when loosening them up)...the front of the shoe felt narrow, the back felt wide. Frustrated, they must go back.

I love Merrell shoes...but these are horrible! There are seams not well covered that rub against the sides of my foot (both feet). These shoes appear to be cheaply made and are very uncomfortable. I gave 4 stars for style...yes they look nice; however, I'm very disappointed with Merrell.

I have been wearing Merrell shoes for years as walking shoes, and I've loved them. This is not up to par with Merrell. The shoes seem comfortable in the house but as soon as I started walking outdoors, it became apparent that there isn't enough lining on the inside. The rubbing and toughness of the shoe is beyond painful. I have tried to wear them in, but my feet hurt too much. Now I have to buy new shoes. They'll be Keen.

First pair, toe area fell apart; fast! -- 3 weeks. Zappos was great, sent new pair, said first must be defective. I agreed. 2nd pair, same exact model, same exact problem. Have not contacted them yet. I am a man that swears by Merrell for strength, I have for 15 years. This is my first try (now second) with Merrells for my wife. She loves everything about them. Hence the problem, this model, good for a month.

I had to send these shoes back after wearing them in the house one full day. Out of the box I found them pretty uncomfortable but decided to give them a full day of wear. I was on my feet all day cooking. I could feel pressure on the sides of both feet. As the day wore on, my feet began to hurt. When I took them off late at night, I could see exactly where the pressure points were. Both sides of each foot on the side of both large and small toes was very, very red. That told me that these shoes are not wide enough in the ball of the foot, and I wear a medium. The overall fit was a very wide toe box, but not where it fit the ball of my foot. I had to send them back. I ordered Keen Voyager to try next. After having two pair of Merrells this pair was the most uncomfortable pair that I ever tried.

I just took these on my usual 4 mile walk. The blisters! The inside of the shoe has seams that protrude into the shoe box. I bought this shoe as a wide because Merrill, in general, seems to be making their shoes smaller and narrower. Now add sloppy construction to the list. Oh, and the right shoe has started to squeak - after one walk. I think I've had it with Merrill. They need to clean up their manufacturing standards.

Back heel slips. This was going to be my 3rd pair of Merrell's - the difference was my past two were Merrell Siren Sport.

Very disappointed in the waterproof of these shoes...there is no waterproof. Since they're not waterproof they smell terrible when wet. The comfort and traction are very good.

This is my 4th pair of Siren Sport 2, most comfortable pair of shoes for me until this pair. Ouch...the left shoe is perfect (made by the shoe cobbler) the right shoe must have been made by his apprentice! It feels like there is a band saw blade sewn in to the upper or vamp area. I have already recycled the box and walked with them outside of my house so I guess they are my to keep, but I won't be keeping my feet in them!

One size was just too small. Half size up was way too big. So I'll have to try something else. Curiously, I bought essentially this shoe two years ago and it was great.
