I ordered these shorts in several colors since they were on sale. I wasn't sure which size would fit best, (5'7" and 185lbs) so I ordered size L and XL. The L was a snug fit while the XL was a bit loose. I kept the XL since I could just pull them on without bothering with the zipper and snaps. I agree with other reviewers that the belt is not needed. I like the 6 inch length and also the quick drying material. The only complaint I have is that the cargo pockets are too small and the side pockets are too shallow to carry a phone.

These shorts will be great for a lot of outdoor activities. I ordered two pair and, though both fit, the blue is a bit larger than the tan (which are a little snug). I will wear these a lot and like the larger thigh openings to give a bit more flexibility for activity.

I love these shorts and have six pairs in different colors, however, you really have to try them on. In order to submit this review, I was forced to choose a "fit" option, however, "true to size" is not accurate. SIZING IS VERY INCONSISTENT. I order size medium and, like Goldilocks, some are tight, some large, some just right.

I love these. I love the color of the burgundy ones. The material is wonderful and very comfortable. I wish they were a little longer but they are perfect for hiking.

I bought this pair during sales for $14.98. It is a little bit bigger than I thought. The adjustable waistband comes in handy. The material is light. It is good for Texas summer. The pocket on each side is deep. I can put my phone and my wallet in them and have my hands free when I go out for walk. I would like it more if the length of the shorts is longer.

5'4", 160 lbs, size large - the legs are full, but not baggy - I am not long waisted, but these fit a bit short in the crotch. - Nice looking, belt adds to appeal - fabric has a bit of a rustle sound I bought another color for myself, and 2 colors for my sister.

These shorts are functional and versatile. I like the breathable material and elastic waistband without an elastic waistband look. I do wish they were a little longer.

I own 5 pairs of these shorts. Bought 2, then 3 more. Belt is silly and tricky, much of the time I find it flapping and think I will get rid of them. They serve no purpose. My very real issue is the front pockets are way too shallow. I have lost a lens cap for a camera, dumped credit cards on the ground and the last straw dumped my cell phone in the toilet. I have a much much older version of Columbia shorts that none of that has ever happened. Rethink the p belt, make front pockets a couple of inches deeper.. Great short though, Saved me in the oppressive heat Long Island experienced this summer. And I shall buy again, there is nothing better out there.

I now have three pairs of these shorts, in various colors. My only critique is that I preferred the stretchy belt that came with an older version - less fuss with the on-and-off, you see, and slightly more comfort. But the length is great, the fit is comfortable, and they work like a charm for paddling.

These shorts are a comfortable fit and light weight. They dry quickly if caught in the rain or worn by the water. The one drawback is the depth of the pockets. I wish they were a tad deeper like the old Columbia shorts. I now have one of each of the available colors so a few new colors would be nice...Like a lighter blue and a gray.

The quality is excellent. I am a bit curvy, so I could have gone up a size.

I've been a Columbia shorts woman for many years. I still have shorts from 25 years ago that have been made into yard shorts as they are finally beginning to look worn. I live in the south and practically live in shorts. My only request is to please go back to bigger cargo pockets for women. You use to make them many many years ago. Our phones have gotten bigger but your cargo pockets have gotten smaller over the years and I hate carrying a purse.

These shorts are good for beach-light weight and dry quickly. They were a little tight for large-And I would like a little longer inseam but have had trouble finding the length I want. Would have ordered another pair if they were just a little longer.

According to the size chart, the waist in size L is for @32". My waist is 34, yet these shorts gap around the waist. The included belt helps with that, but I would prefer if the belt were elastic instead of web, and I would prefer not to need a belt. Otherwise they fit well, and seem to be of good quality so I will keep them.

These run a bit small. I wear size 12 and they're good, but not if I was a 14. They are a nice, cool fabric and will be good for hiking, amusement parks etc. They fit better than the Sandy River shorts that aren't cargo. The crotch is a little uncomfortable when sitting, however.

These shorts are a great length and fabric for outdoor activities, allowing for a great range of movement and high-waisted UPF coverage. They fit true to size. The snap belt is unnecessary given the firmness of the waist elastic. They hold up great in the wash and dry quickly; unfortunately they've proven slightly less stain resistant than I was hoping (I spilled a bit of oil and paint) given the stellar performance of other Columbia products.

I wear these shorts kayaking and the fabric, length and overall fit are fine, but they really need secure side pockets.

I am a little old for the length of these shorts. But for the quality and the price, I decided to keep them. I bought 2 colors and I really like them. They are quality and lightweight. Great for those hot summer days!

1. Would be nice if shorts were 2 - 3 inches longer 2. You need to design better pockets. Need a secure pocket to hold a cell phone and a zip pocket that cn hold a wallet. 3. Don't be sexist.....why do you design the men's shorts with better pocket design, but not for women?

super comfy shorts for water activities (or just for hot days). I am usually between S/M but got a Small because of the elastic waistband and these fit nicely and comfortably, even without the belt.
