I had been eyeing these boots for a couple of years, and decided to splurge and buy them (in black). In person they are beautiful. I have large calves from running (15 1/4), and I have trouble finding boots that will fit over skinny jeans or leggings. These were pretty tight, so I ended up taking them to my shoe repair guy and he stretched them for me and they fit perfectly now. Only problem is, the first time I wore them for any length of time, I got huuuuge blisters on the backs of my feet. I am going to stick with them and break them in, but it was a bit disappointing, considering the price. I have bought boots half the cost that were comfortable right out of the box that I could wear for hours with no issues. I guess I also have a high instep because these are really hard to get on and off. However, they are so lovely that I am willing to work through a little pain to make them more wearable.

I love these boots, the color is amazing, the leather is beautiful, they fit great but they are bunchy at my ankles so I ended up returning them and going with the Melissa button back zip which are more structured. Beautiful boots though and on someone else I'm sure they will be perfect!

These are beautiful boots. They can be dressed up or down, and are very comfortable. I ordered the Cognac color. It a rich, neutral brown that will be much easier to wear than my black boots. I have 15.5" calves and these boots fit perfectly with jeans. I think if you have truly "wide calves" these may not fit. One complaint: the bottoms are very slick. I'm going to have to scuff them up somehow or put some sort of grip on the bottom.

I really like the leather, fit and style of this boot. I have been looking for a black boot for a long time and am pleased. However the snaps have a tendency to come undone. Doesn't happen too often but Getting a little annoyed with them flapping. But overall I am satisfied and would recommend them.

I have always wanted Frye boots. From all the reviews that I have read and the different styles that I have looked at it appears Frye has joined the Calvin Klein school of thinking. Women have no curves and are completely anorexic even if they wear a larger size or are even slightly athletic. I may need to get booties or shooties if I want to buy Frye. That is too sad.

I wasn't sure about these boots when I first received them and I ordered a larger size just to make sure that I liked the fit. Even though they were extended calf they were a little tight at the top of the boot my calf is 16 inches. I wanted these boots for a trip that I had planned. I wanted to wear with them dresses and skirts. I put them on the day my flight left and I wore them almost constantly through out my trip. I love them! The upper portion of the boot stretched within a couple hours of wearing and they are much easier to get on and off with the stretching from the wear. I am not sure if I will be able to tuck jeans into them but with my calf size I am not sure that I would be able to do that with any boot. I am very happy with them and love the fact that I was able to get a real quality boot such as Frye in this style. These boots held up and still look great after 5 days of Mardi Gras dancing , beads, broken glass and rain. I just wiped them off with a damp cloth and they are ready for my next adventure. Very happy with this purchase!

Frye is truly high quality. You can tell how well these boots are made. They are understated in style and could easily dress up or down. For me, they fit a little bit low on my legs. They were tight (probably 15½, not 16 inches). I could have had them stretched and been okay but I found another pair for less that just flattered my leg more because of the height. It was a tough choice! Luckily Zappos makes it easy for me to try both and evaluate!

I was very impressed with the leather and its color. Comfort seemed great, but there was a seam at the back of the leg that caused a funny pucker on one boot. So I ordered a 2nd to exchange them, but decided that I didn't like how they looked on me overall. No particular problem, just a personal choice. So for the price, I decided I wasn't happy enough with them and decided to return them.

I just received these Frye Melissa Button boots today and I have completely fallen in love with them. The extended boot fits really well on my calves. My calves are very muscular due to gymnastics all my life but these extended boots fit them perfectly! I can't wait to wear them with tights/leggings in the fall!

I got a lot of compliments on these boots. I had to add an insole for comfort, though, and after having them only four months, the sole detached from the front of the left boot. I’m glad I got them on sale.

These are very cute boots but not very comfortable on my back heels. The boots rub against my heels causing blisters

The boots are beautiful to look at but way off size-wise! The Left boot was a little tight WIDTH-wise. I usually wear W, but after reading other reviews I took a chance that they would fit. The Right boot ... I couldn’t even get my foot into it! And my left leg is bigger than my right! It was like two different size boots! Very disappointed ... really wanted these boots ??

For the price, I expected a better fit, and nicer leather.

These boots LOOK beautiful, and I really wanted a good leather boot with a leather sole. I am a small woman with slim legs and these boots were sooooo tight in the calfs and also the toes. I ordered a 7.5 Extended (I've never had a wide shoe in my life) and it was too tight. They LOOK exactly the way I wanted them to, but unfortunately I cannot keep them because my feet would be in pain.

I have ordered several pairs of Frye boots trying to find one that I love and this is definitely not the one. The leather feels very stiff and I am not crazy about the color brown. The toe area is very narrow and I consider my foot a medium width. I will be sending these back for a different pair unfortunately.

First the pros: 1. The cognac color is gorgeous! 2. Classic, timeless style 3. Good quality 4. Pull-on style The cons: 1. These run small in the footbed. I normally wear a size 10 and these were very snug on my feet. I'd probably need to size up if I was going to get this style. 2. Tight in the ankles & yet appear baggy. Let me explain: I ordered these in an extended size because it seems boots I've tried in the past are so snug even though my calves are pretty average-sized (14.5" at fullest point). I am 5'10" and wear a size 10 in most shoes so I ordered a 10 and was dismayed that I could barely get the boots on. The calf width wasn't the problem, it was getting my foot into the ankle part of the boot. Oddly enough, once on, the ankle part seemed a bit baggy. I think this style just isn't meant for those with larger feet. 3. Too short I am returning these for the Melissa Tall Riding boot which, although it has much slimmer calves, has a small zipper at the ankle which makes them a breeze to get on and off and fit me so much better. Also, they are taller and cut straight across which suits my style better.

Frye makes great boots. Unfortunately, this is not one of them. They do fit much taller than the standard, and with that, there is a strange pucker in the leather on the back, top of the boot. It makes them fit awkwardly, sagging in the back, and bunching up in the front.

I love the look of these boots. Admittedly, I am hard to fit but I was hoping that the simple style of these boots would work. Unfortunately, they felt wide on my heels, and perhaps because they are pull-on, the stiff leather seemed to rub at my ankles. The leather was beautiful - too bad they will not work for me.
