First off I loved this shoe. The fit was great and they were warm! The reason for the bad review is because the first time I wore these boots outside (I went sledding and put them on in the parking lot) one of the plastic eyelets pulled right out of the boot! The plastic backing was small and while tying the boot it pulled right out of the fabric. I do not blame Zappos one bit, they were kind enough to process a return or exchange. I opted to go with a refund due to the fact I think North Face really messed up on a key component on the design of the shoe. With any boot a lot of pressure will be put on the eyelets and I really expected more from North Face.

The soles fell off of these boots 2 times on me now. The first time I thought it was a random thing and I bought a second pair. Now I realize it's just poor craftsmanship.

I love this boot. Unfortunately it has a serious desiign defect that painfully pinches the toes when the boot is flexed. North face agreed to give me a refund so I could try another model

The metal hooks came off after two uses. They just ripped from the inside. Poor craftsmanship.

The first winter i got them they tower up on the side.
I was trying to europe they get a lot of snow here so i wanted to get something worm and good they are worm but not something to spend all that money and have them busted on the first winter

Bought them for winter commuting because they are waterproof but had to return them after the third time I fell when the laces got tangled with the opposite boot's hooks while walking (not fun getting pranked by your own boots). The top lacing hooks need to be improved.
Those were my first North Face pair of shoes and I'm pretty disappointed, I own several hiking and climbing boots from other brands with a similar hook lacing system without any issues. Anyway, maybe I just got a bad pair but that's what happened.

Never got to wear them yet, the plastic eyelet ripped out the boot when putting them on and it just happened to my friends boot too.

I liked the look of this boot, a big fan of North Face, and ordered it. I read one review about the narrow entry into this boot-here is a second review on the same issue. I couldn't even get my foot into this boot the top section is so small, and I do not have a wide foot.
