the shoes fit well and were comfortable 2 months later the shoes hurt my feet I gotten these in the past with no problem I don't get it were quality control

One thing about the several pair of NB shoes I own is that the Velcro strap is not long enough. Maybe I have a higher instep than these shoes were designed for. The Velcro connection is too small and sometimes the flap comes loose. Otherwise, it is a good quality shoe.

When my foot is in the shoe, both top and bottom straps do not cover all Velcro.The short straps make it harder to fasten and unfasten for an older person.I feel that for the cost, the company should not skimp in the length of the straps.

I have always been able to wear the size I ordered, but this pair is comparatively tight. The Velcro straps are not long enough to latch... they need to be at least a full inch longer.

I bought these shoes only for use on my treadmill and exercise bike. They never leave the house - never.
I started to experience some lower leg pain after about two weeks use and decided to replace the insoles with a "gel" type product.
What a disappointment when I removed the factory insoles. They are thin and offer very little cushioning - no wonder my lower legs hurt.
The construction and fit of the shoes is great, so hopefully my new insoles will be better for my lower legs.

Bought these for my husband after he had shoulder surgery and could not tie his shoes for 6 weeks. I purchased the same size as his other New Balance shoes but this pair did not fit. It was shorter and narrower than a similar pair he had that tied. We sent them back for a 1/2 size longer and a wide width instead of medium. The exchange went smoothly and we appreciated the fact that we did not have to wait for the shoes to be received by Zappo's before they sent the replacement. I did the entire transaction online and it was really convenient. The second pair fit much better and were comfortable but squeak slightly when he walks. We will keep them for the convenience of the velcro for his recovery from surgery but I would not recommend or buy another pair.

I rated this shoe a three, for a walking shoe they should be more comfortable than they are. After about 2 hours on my feet, my feet ache more than I feel they should. I had more comfort in a pair of $19 Dickies from Costco then these.

I have a high mid-foot, and I thought this SL-2 last would fit having a taller mid-foot height. But the straps were too short. I presume they used "average straps and not long ones. Zappos is great. New Balance is a well made and well designed shoe with lots of sizes.

My husband has worn this particular shoe for at least a couple of years. I ordered a replacement pair exactly like the first ones, but they were defective: I both called customer service with this info and submitted a review. I asked for a replacement, which I am now returning because this pair has exactly the same defect as the other pair we have to return. When we can be assured of receiving a pair that is not defective, we will order again. Thanks much. . .we love Zappos. . .just wish you stocked 7 S shoes for me!

These shoes fit good and are comfortable. However, after wearing for awhile they tend to come apart at the toe seams. I wish they were more rugged but I haven't found anything else that fits as well. Since they are guaranteed and you do replace them if they come apart, I continue to order them.

This is the first time in years of use that the top loop (hook) is crooked, It does not go over the shoe straight. It can still be used and the shoes fir fine but is distracting in appearance in the loop area. .

The shoe was comfortable but it looked like an orthopec shoe at the toe box. I am 65 but still prefer something a little more stylish. I returned it for a comfortable shoe in the "work shoe" category that was just as comfortable but much better looking.

It appears that all of the straps on the new New Balance Hook-and-Loop shoes do not cross totally from one side to the other. The velcro snags pants and catches on furniture. My husband of medium to small build, could not wear them.

These are really nice shoes, but the Velcro strap on my left foot didn't really reach the other side, thus not attractive. The shoe has no padding, so I'd have to get support from Dr. Scholls. Great idea, but didn't work for me.

I recently ordered a pair of the MW557 11.5 4E Hook & Loop in black. I own a pair of these shoes in white in a laced version and found them to be a very comfortable walking shoe. I walk about 5 miles per day. I was very disappointed in the length of the straps on the MW557 I ordered and returned them immediately. I have a wide foot thus the 4E width, but I do not have a high instep and yet the hook & loop straps were not of adequate length. The folks at Zappo's handled this situation wonderfully and had a pair of replacement New Balance Dunham Winslow shoes at my house in 3 days.

The shoes fit very well and are comfortable. The velcro straps hold tight but I can see where the velcro is separating from the leather. This is after two weeks of wear. I will probably have to glue it.
