I tried a lot of different boots before settling on this pair. These are really comfortable, the heel has air in it so its really squishy for walking. It's also roomy enough for my slightly wide feet. I can wear these with tights or skinny jeans. This boot is a good mix of practicality and style. I have not tried the waterproof/resistant feature yet.

Very happy with these boots, in terms of both comfort and looks. Although they are a bit darker brown that what I was expecting, still a nice color. I was shocked that I could actually buy a pair of boots online, first pair, and have it be a success!

I purchased these last year and wore them for looks as well as comfort. I couldn't possibly be happier. I love them so very much.

Fantastic boots. I'll probably be living in them this winter. I haven't had a chance to test out the waterproof features, but I'm sure it will hold up. As other people have said, they don't look waterproof which is nice. They are a softer leather- almost like suede, which was a surprise, but I love them. I have skinnier calves so the shaft is a little loose, but I suggest just buying them and returning. Zappos makes that so easy!

These boots are very comfortable and also have wonderful casual style. Although they are waterproof they do not look it. Well made and it seems like they would hold up to long wear.

Beautiful! Just what I have been looking for. I've been on the search for a boot that can work the line between casual with jeans and a little dressy with a skirt. A pair that won't look out of place chasing my kids at the park, but could work for a meeting in a pinch. These are the ones! Merrell has never let me down on comfort and I think these will live up to that. The strap and leather button detail are sophisticated and perfect. The fit is good at the calf not too tight, not too loose. I have had trouble with boots and these have a fingers width gap and a small gusset. Great. Waterproof is a plus. I can't wait to give these a spin this fall and winter!

I bought these three years ago for myself in black. I have worn them through some rough winters here in New England and they have been wonderful. The style is cool-looking and I love the urban look. I am normally an 8 or an 8.5 and I got the 8.5 in these. Good fit. My daughter moved here from Southern CA and was in need of winter boots, so I told her to try these. She got them in a cool color...a charcoal gray, which I had never seen anywhere. She loves them, too. She can go all day in them, wears them to work where she is on her feet for her whole shift; no problems at all. Recommend.

I have had these boots for over 3 years now. I loved my first black pair so much I bought another pair in brown. Never had any problems with buttons falling off like some mentioned in other reviews. I wear them all the time with skirts, with or without tights. Very comfortable to walk in for long distances, and completely waterproof. I have thin legs and they do fit snug, that you should know. These boots are worth every cent in my book. I'm always getting compliments.

These boots are really comfy. They are waterproof and pretty warm too. The soles are very grippy so unless you're walking on ice, they are non slip. My one complaint would be that the buttons on the back are not super sturdy. They're just for show but I've had a tough time keeping them on.

Love these boots! I just wish they went a little higher on my calf but they're still cute and super comfy! I'm a tall girl, 5'10", and I do a lot of crazy workouts that make my calves all muscely, yes, muscley. So they're a little snug around my mid calf but, they're leather so they're starting to strecth. They kinda have a militant vibe when paired with black leggings and a hoodie, which I like, most importantly, I can dress them up or down. I highly recommend these boots to any girl and with a name like Merrell, you know quality is top notch.

Very cute with skirts. Footbed is not particularly comfortable (Merrell typically is), and feels a bit like a rubber boot. It has virtually no heel, so the profile is very flat. Still, the detail on the back looks good with skirts.

I love these boots. They are perfect for someone like me who likes to look nice and polished but not "prissy" or overdressed on day to day occasion. The only complaint I have has to do with the calf size on the boot. I have smaller calves, but these boots seem to run large on the calf measurements. Even with skinny jeans with socks over them, I still have a substantial amount of room to spare. Otherwise, these are perfect!

These boots are also much stiffer than the beautiful and functional Merrell Plaza Peaks, but not as stiff as the Captiva strap, perhaps because they are shorter and I have short legs. They are true to size and we'll see how waterproof they truly are. At the first sight the leather doesn't seem maintenance free as the adorable Plaza Peaks are. The texture of the leather is a lot like the Vera Peak, which tends to be more delicate and you have to make sure to remove the mud from them if not they tend to get stained. I will have to keep them because I'm just tired of trying boots looking for the Plaza Peaks replacement. I will keep begging for Merrell to bring the Merrell Plaza Peak boots back, I wish I had another pair, I even looked in eBay for them, which is a shame, why would I want a second hand pair of boots?! Well, because they are extremely comfortable, I can do anything with them just like if they were my best pair of sneakers, they are waterproof, maintenance free and they look sharp with legging, jeans, skirts or nothing on it.

These are fantastic boots, they are so comfortable I feel like I can do anything in them, like a super hero! The only thing is one of the buttons popped off and it is lost, I have to contact Zappos and see if I can get another button. Overall, though, these are adorable and so so comfortable, They fit me perfectly!

I've only had these boots for about a year, but they are incredibly comfortable. They fit like a glove and I can wear all day with no arch pain or shin pain. I've never had the issue with the buttons popping off, as mentioned in the other reviews, but I usually wear these under my jeans as the shaft is a bit tight. The boots are really warm too, not lined but waterproof. I do wish the tread was a bit deeper.

Very comfortable, stylish. I decided I wanted something a little more refined looking for work but these are really fun, casual comfortable boots. A little on the low side (check the shank height if you want a high boot).

GREAT boot, but the buttons do indeed detach (the reason for only 4 stars). I've had these less than a month and have lost two. I've contacted Merrell for replacement buttons. Otherwise, a very comfortable, attractive boot, especially for those with slightly wide feet and a bunion! Great for south Georgia where boot warmth is not important, but being waterproof is.

I loved these boots but I too had to deal with the buttons falling off. I am not happy about that. I have decided to live with it but the boots cost too much (I paid the original price) for that to be happening. Maybe I will call Merrell. I have Merrell hiking gear which I love.

I wanted a waterproof boot for those days when it might rain or snow, but you're not sure. I hate walking around in rubber boots when it turns out there was no precipitation. These fit the bill - they don't look too out of place as my commuting shoes even if I'm wearing a dress, and they're super comfortable and warm. I haven't had to walk through too much water, but so far so good on that front as well. They're not the best looking leather, but that's got to be because of the waterproofing, so I can live with it. And I slip easily on slick surfaces, but frankly, unless you've got cleats, I don't know how much traction you get with most shoes. I really recommend these. I can't stress enough how comfortable they are!

Loved these boots until I took them in the rain & the shape got a little funky. Still a great boot but they don't look as nice now. Very comfortable! Oh & I have to say, while I was I the rain, the boot kept my feet completely dry!

When I put these on out of the box, I fell in love. They felt like they were made for my feet ~ I have high arches, and need good support ~ and were delightful in terms of comfort as well as a casual style that can be dressed up or down. I work with kids and lead an active life, and my footwear has to be able to keep up. The sole is flexible enough that I could comfortably run to dodge traffic the first day I wore them, and has a great rubber textured bottom to give plenty of traction. No breaking-in period was a huge plus. They do run a titch large and wide (and I have wide feet), but I think that's to allow for wearing heavier socks. When I've gone with heavy wool socks, they fit perfectly; thin knee highs from Target, and my feet are swimming a little uncomfortably. The only thing that would make this boot more comfortable would be a slightly thicker sole at the ball of the foot, for better shock absorption. As other raters have noted, I also lost one of the buttons within the first week of wearing these boots. That poster implied it's easy enough to have Merrell send you replacements, which I plan to do. Overall, these boots have impressed me enough that I'm ordering a pair in black so that I can wear them all winter.

This is my first pair of Merrell boots or shoes, and I loved them from the minute I put them on. They are extremely comfortable, which is what I look for first, since I have problem feet--high arches, bunions, neuromas. I bought an 8 1/2, so that my orthotics would fit in them, and they fit perfectly. The inside is cushy but the outer sole is firm, which eliminates neuroma pain. The calf width is just right, with no gap at the top. A big plus is that they are also very stylish. And they're waterproof! My only (small) complaint is that the leather is not as pretty as in the photograph-it is more like nubuck. I will keep them, though, because they meet all other difficult requirements!

I have been wanting these boots for several years. They are great for what I want them for; a stylish type boot that I can walk around in snow and wet and not get wreaked. I was thinking that they would be a traditional leather and I was thinking they would be warmer are my only two complaints. Otherwise, they do the job that I expected of them.

I stared at these for months until I decided on purchasing. But it was a short affair. I have feet that are on the wide side of mid-width, these boots are on the narrow side of "M". In my experience, Merrell's leather shoes stretch to fit pretty easily, so this wasn't the deciding factor. I went to zip them up, bare (no skinny jeans on that day), and got about 3/4 of the way up before it was heart-breakingly clear they weren't going to move any more. I haven't met many boots I can't zip up, even if my feet don't fit, so this was a surprise. Obviously, I had to return them. I tried on another pair of (taller) Merrell boots and the calf was noticeably more generous -- with enough room for thick leggings or jeans. All I can guess is that this was the profile they intended. Style wise, they are fun, interesting and a little edgy, yet will pass as professional or casual-dress.

These boots are super comfortable, almost like wearing an athletic shoe. They are very well-made. I could tell they would last years. I wear a size 11 wide and my feet were able to fit into these boots, which is a rarity. I really wish I could keep them. However, the boot was a little tight around my calves. I could wear them with tights or leggings, but when I tried them on with jean leggings it did not work. Too tight for me. I think my calves could be considered kind of on the big side. If you have smaller calves these may work for you. Otherwise, this was a really comfortable boot that fits wide feet!
