These boots area great. I noticed them first as the Tetra Launch but was put off by the price. This year I tried them on and was sold. They are much more comfortable than comparable Keens or Tevas, for me at least. I put them on with medium socks and they were perfect from the start. They are great for long walks, around town, in the northwest winter rains and on top of skinny jeans. I get a lot of compliments. They are wearing very well and I am wearing them just about daily, I am light on my shoes generally. Even though they are light weight (a real plus) they are warm as well as waterproof. I cannot say enough! Get them now on sale!

AMAZING! Wow, this is the most comfortable boot I have ever owned. I think I've worn them every day since I got them, and I never want to take them off. Soft leather uppers, and a springy, supportive sole. What's not to love? I haven't had any problem with the buttons falling off, as others have mentioned, so either Merrell fixed this issue or I've been incredibly lucky. Time will tell, but these babies rank a #1 from me!

These are the most comfortable boots I have ever owned! I can put them on in the morning and not take them off until late at night and my feet feel great! They are true to size! I've had many compliments on them and would highly recommend them! Worth every penny and then some! Carol C.

I have had the same pair of these boots for three seasons and they are still going strong with minimal care (yearly clean and condition with store bought product). The leather outer has worn well, building character with every nic rather than turning dingy, and they are still waterproof, even at the seams. I have a wide foot and an athletic calf that these tetra launch boots accommodate wonderfully. The lining provides moderate insulation, but order a size up if you want to wear thick socks inside. My only qualm is the arch support. For an arch that easily collapses, inserts are a must as there is very moderate arch support in the shoe.

I bought these boots in 2007 and they're still going strong. I actually did have a button pop off in the very early days of my ownership (I think an overzealous dog may have contributed to this), which led me to exchange them for a new pair--but since then, they've remained intact for more than five years of frequent wear. I really love the detailing on the back; it makes them seem more dressy and stylish despite how practical they are. They're AMAZINGLY comfortable, and the waterproofing works really well; my feet haven't gotten wet despite wearing them all the time in gross weather. I don't plan on retiring my old Captiva Launches any time soon, but if I ever have to, I'm glad to know I could still get a new pair. They're probably my favorite pair of shoes, and even though the leather's a bit scratched after all the years I've worn them, they still look great (if anything, I think the wear adds a bit to the charm...and I bet they'd look even better if I wasn't too lazy to polish them). I can't say enough good things about these boots, or about Merrell in general.

Form & function! I'm 5'2" with muscular legs. The shaft was a good height for me, but may not work for taller ladies. I was able to comfortably zip them over straight-leg jeans. I normally wear a 7.5 and will occasionally go up a half-size in winter shoes, but I had plenty of room for even my thickest socks without having to size up. In fact, if you don't plan to wear heavy socks with these, then I'd recommend going down a half-size. Insole is soft, flexible, and roomy like an athletic shoe and comfortable for my high insteps. There isn't much in the way of arch support, but these could easily accommodate an orthotic.

Love these boots! Super cute and comfortable. The decorative buttons were the focal point but you need to be careful when crossing legs because they tend to get stuck and seems like they can pop off. One did. The boot is a suede and retains any scratches it endures. Both issues are minimal in regards to comfort and style just have to be more careful.

Really nicely shaped boot. Very comfy. Looks great with skinny jeans, skirts and tights, and casual dresses. I have medium-thin calves and these fit great. I don't think they'd work for you if you have bigger calves. If you want an attractive boot with a decent width forefoot that requires no break in and you're not willing to sacrifice comfort for a fashion boot -- these will work.

Love these boots! Great fit with a roomy toe space to accommodate thick winter socks and support inserts, which I use in all my shoes. Comfortable enough to wear all day and super cute!

I have very sensitive feet and need well made shoes. They felt comfortable the first time I wore them and look good with jeans and skirts. Love them!

These are really stylish yet comfortable boots that can be worn on rainy days running for the light rail. It was a tiny bit tight on my calves but it has an elastic vent and feels fine after all day wear. I did have a problem with the right boot where the zipper dug into my ankle. I was worried because I wore them around the house one day which was fine, but then the next day outside I felt the pressure on my ankle. The next day I got a thick piece of moleskin and zipped it in the boot and it has been fine ever since. Yesterday I noticed I was slipping a bit on the street while walking, but I am hoping it was the slickness of the sidewalk bricks and not an indication that these boots are not gripping enough. So far, they are just about the perfect boots!

These boots are worth every penny. I never spend this kind of money on shoes (or anything else for that matter), but these are so versatile. I can even wear them to work! If you're thinking of getting them, do it!

Beautiful boots. I ordered the 6.5 (which is what I usually wear); am returning them for a 6. They seemed way too big. Other than that they are stunning and comfortable.

I bought these for my mom, and she loves them! They are stylish and don't bother her feet (she has neuropathy). I would highly recommend them to anyone!

I love these boots! They're really comfortable, they fit great and look good. They go nicely over my pants and I have a fairly curvy calf muscle. The only complaint I have is the buttons do come off very easily and I was trying to be cautious with them because of the reviews I read that said the same thing. But the company is sending me out replacement buttons. I just wish they stayed on better. But that wouldn't stop me from buying these boots again!

I've been coveting this boot on-line for months and finally bought it from a brick and mortar store on an impulse. It is a very stylish and comfortable boot. I have narrow heels and ankles, average (14 1/2") calves but wide toes and a very high arch. It's almost impossible for me to find well fitted shoes. I often have to buy a size up so my little toe will fit but I didn't have to do that with these boots. Surprisingly - they don't look like Mickey Mouse shoes. I added an insert with arch support which makes them a little snug over the top of my foot but I don't mind that. What I do mind is that with each wearing one of the buttons has popped off. I saw a daughter's friend wearing the same boot and guess what - she was missing a button too. Fortunately Merrell is a fabulous company (and I have a few handy skills) and they sent a package of replacement buttons. But at the rate of one button popping for every other wearing I'm going to have to ask them for another package. I'm replacing each button with a dab of industrial strength adhesive (E-6000) as well as popping it on with a hammer - hope this keeps them on.

These boots are super comfortable! I bought them for an upcoming trip to England but find I can wear them anywhere. They look great and did well on a rainy trip to Sacramento - my feet and socks stayed dry. I even bought a short wool skirt to wear with tights and the boots. It looks very fashionable.

Just received these wonderful boots for Christmas! I wanted a truly waterproof boot with more style than a rain boot and these are perfect! Nice and snug at the ankle and calf for a slim fit but I can still fit my skinny jeans or leggings inside. Great tread without looking too "off road," the back button detail adds interest without being too trendy (I like trendy but want these to be my rain boots for years to come). As usual Zappos' free shipping both ways was an awesome selling point. Yippee!

These boots are very comfortable and stylish. I have not tried them with a dress yet, but I bought with the intention of wearing with slacks, jeans, or dress, and I think they will look cute with any of those styles. I have another pair of Merrell boots that I have owned for years and wear every day most of the year, and I was hoping to find that style again. I bought these boots since I could not find Merrill Tundra, and I hope they will last as long and be as versatile as my Tundra. I have worn these Captiva boots to work several times now and am on my feet all day, and so far these boots have been extremely comfortable. They are warm, waterproof,yet breathable.

These boots are really comfortable and looks great. I wear an 8½ or 9 depending, and ordered the 9 which fits fine. I might have been able to get away with the 8½, but I have room for thicker socks with the 9. The fit is snug, so close-fitting skinny jeans are probably the only thing you can tuck in. These probably will not work for wider calves. They fit mine, but I would not want them any tighter. I worry about losing the buttons, which several customers mentioned, but I will just contact Merrell if that happens. They are stylish with jeans or a skirt, and seem like they would hold up to a day on your feet. The leather feels great and the brown color is as pictured. At the same time I ordered a couple pair of Keen boots which did not quite work, but these definitely hit the mark! They are keepers for sure.

These boots are so cute and very comfortable. Very stylish as well. The only reason I could not keep them was due to the shaft of the boot being too tight on my calf. Also, I was looking for a boot that was a bit taller. I've returned them and plan to purchase the Merrell Captiva Strap Waterproof boot. The reviews say that this boot is taller and provides more room for larger calves.

I wanted these boots for Christmas and my wonderful husband had Santa deliver them. I have worn them 3 days in a row, and love them and have received many compliments already. I read all the reviews and based on another review I read it helped me determine the right size. Depending on the shoe I wear a 9 up to a 10 in some shoes. So I told him to order a 9.5 and they fit perfect and couldn't be happier! Thank you Merrell and thank you Zappos shoppers for writing reviews! Great boots! Fantastic with skinny jeans, leggings and jeggings!

"These boots are made for walking!" I am a runner and have encountered foot injuries in the past, therefore I am always cautious when purchasing shoes/boots because comfort is a priority. This is the first pair of boots I purchased that feel as comfortable as my running shoes. No, I will not run in these, but I can't wait to visit my daughter in NYC because we always walk many miles and for years I have searched for both a comfortable and a fashionable boot to do that. They run a bit large. I normally wear a size 8 so naturally I ordered a size 8. I may have been able to order down a size because there is extra space in the boot, but I figure on really cold days I can wear of pair of heavier socks and still feel comfortable. These boots are truly a keeper!

My first pair of boots, since grade school! These are so cute and so comfortable, right out of the box. Now I have to get more short skirts and skinny jeans so I can show them off. I ordered my normal size 8.5 and they fit perfectly. I am concerned about the many reviews that mention a button or two has fallen off. I contacted Merrell to send me a couple of extra buttons, just in case.

Love these boots! This us my second pair. My daughter and I have them in brown. They are really comfortable, look great, and are waterproof. I hope they keep making them forever!
