I purchased these jeans because I loved the 501 shrink-to-fits I wore as a kid, and I loved how they shrank to fit me exactly. These, although the same great quality I remember, were too big after washing and drying in hot water. I ordered according to the specs that said to order 1 inch larger in the waist than my measurement where the waist would hit me, but I think I should have just ordered my regular waist measurement. Since I have washed them, I don't think I can return them, so I will give these to a lucky man with a 34 inch waist and possibly reorder in my correct size. Also, they did not shrink nearly as much in length as they should have either. Still a great pair of jeans, though, and surprisingly comfortable for non-stretch heavy denim.

Levi's 501 shrink to fit, always stiff when new. Purchased 2 sizes, between sizes, both will fill a niche. Impressed with the fabric, not imitation Levi's! the most impressive piece of the transaction was shipping. Mouth opening quick!

I have been buying "shrink to fit" Levi's for 30 years, so I've got a good handle on how big these should before washing. Pre-washed, right out of the shipping package, these were smaller than my same sized pair I've been wearing for 3 years that were fresh out of the dryer. Checked them against my same-sized regular (not shrink to fit) 501's, also fresh out of the dryer - yep, quite a bit smaller than those too. The button-holes were poorly finished and almost too small to button, as well. These are obviously mis-sized factory seconds being sold as standards "on sale". Returning and will not buy from here again.

Crooked outer seams (both legs!) point to your shoe laces otherwise a nice rugged pair of jeans. I'll try again.

Shrink To Fit 501 Levis came used, already washed and heavily wrinkled, no Levi labels attached. Correct size only. ZAPPOS....... REALLY!!!!!!!!

They don’t make them like they used to. I have been buying 501/shrink to fit/button fly for more than 30 years. Never had another brand (although I did get a pair of the boot cut Levi’s back in the 90’s when I went through my cowboy boot wearing phase) until about 3 years ago I couldn’t find shrink to fit in the stores anymore so I got a couple of preshrunk 501’s. The shrink to fit’s last forever, and getting a new pair every couple years made sure I had enough in my closet. Anyway, the pair I just got (March 2020) are unlike any of the shrink to fits I’ve ever had. The denim was somewhat soft to begin with instead of the absolute rigid cardboard like feel as before. After washing and drying they did not shrink up as much. And after washing they were very soft feeling and did not have any faded creases that are typical of my 501’s from yesteryear. I can still see the creases from the original washing on jeans that are over 6 years old and yet these new ones don’t have any. These jeans might be good jeans, but they are not the same as they used to be. Nothing bad (yet, time will tell if they last as long) to say about them just they are not the original quality.

This is a working man's jean. The entire construction, make-up, stiching, ponts to durability. The bidy and pant leg is wide.Wider than I really like. But, I am keeping them because I love the firmness and rigidity of them.

Perfect fit and color

Quality product, but it was much bigger than I expected. The 32 inch inseam barely shrunk and the pant legs are much wider than other 501s I’ve owned. I’ll have to get them tailored to be able to wear and that will almost double the cost. Basically they didn’t shrink to fit me.

I bought 2 sizes too big lengthwise and washed jeans inside out delicate cycle with other denim and then wore them dry. Suddenly my most comfortable pair of jeans. These say made in Mexico. The previous pairs rom 2 years ago said made in Egypt and were inferior to the Mexican ones, my opinion.

With slight variations, these are the same 501 STF jeans I've been wearing for about 45 years. After moving in and out of other jeans, including other Levi's, I returned to the classic indigo 501 about 10 years ago and now wear nothing but. I'm 6'2 and about 180 and usually order 33x34 but went with 32x34 and soaked them instead of washing them before wearing and they fit in the waist just like a pair of 33 washed in warm water. Soaking in cold water rather than washing in warm makes for a fairly long and somewhat uncomfortable break-in period but they just look so nice. They may not be quite as well constructed as they were when I was a kid but they still wear better than just about any other jean, especially given the $40 price on Zappos and other sites. Have to say I'm a 501 STF fan.

When you get the fit you want, you must stabilize the fit and wash sparingly! I mistakenly did not treat these jeans properly and eventually they became too small, but it is due to my faulty care. Until then, they were my favorite jeans. There are several guides online for proper handling of raw denim/shrink to fit. These jeans require special care.

I ordered rigid "shrink to fit" 501s. Zappos sent me a pair that had already been washed by someone else. Bad Zappos!

I have ordered from this company before, a purse and was very satisfied with my purchase and delivery time. This time I ordered 2 pairs of Levi's 501 shrink to fit pants for my husband because they had a great deal on them and the 2 items arrived on time. I will order from Zappos again.

So i couldn't decide which levi # to go with so I figured I would give Shrink to Fit a try. Perfect! I am normally a 32x32 and bought 32x34 I put in tub to shrink 2x's and they fit just about perfect ( a little long in length) but one cuff and it's all good!

With 501s, you know what you are getting fitwise. Need more colors such as brown or khaki.
