Love Levis 501s. These were advertised as shrink to fit and so I chose an inseam length 2” longer than normal. They have not shrunk at all after 2 washings on “hot” and two drier sessions on “hot”. Buy your normal size.

This is the first pair of Levi's Rigid 501Original Shrink-to-Fit Jeans that I have purchased in a long, long time. They are not quite as stout a fabric that I remember them being, however, I am pleased with how they have washed up and shrunk; and how they fit afterwards. I usually wear a 31-30 in the 501 pre-washed jeans, so following the Levi's suggestion I purchased a 32-32 (no 33 inseam available), washed them in hot water, and dried them on low heat for 20 minutes, then on medium heat for another 20 minutes with very good results!

Have worn 501 Shrink to Fit for over 60 years...since the time they were the only type of Levi's. The great thing about Zappos is when you order StF, you get StF; some merchants are incompetent or worse, and send pre-shrunk "Original Fit" when you order StF.

Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
Fit is great. Size is great. But wow Levi’s has diminished in quality. This denim is not good. I used to have STF 501’s for years. My last pair ripped in the crotch within months. These new ones in black look and feel great. However the material is so thin I’m genuinely afraid to wash them, & anticipate getting less than a year out of these too. What happened, Levi’s? Not durable denim at ALL anymore.

In the Black stf the fit was slightly looser than in the traditional rigid blue stf. There's a lot of methods for handling the shrink to fit jeans, to get what you want in the end. I wear a 31 or 32 in Womens jeans, and the 35 waist is a firm fit.

Had to return because inseam was longer. Compared with the same purchase with another store was the best fit. I don't know if it was because the jean I purchased at the first store had Levis red tab with Levis (R) rear right pocket, the one from Zappos had just a plain red teb with (R) on it. This has happened before on other purchases of Levis jeans, my size is 36 X 36.

Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
These are jeans for the long-haul! I wore them WET-to-dry and it takes a while to break them in, but these are like the ones I got in my teens. Back then I had to go through the same suffering to get a true custom fit that is comfortable, and if you're patient that's what you'll get. They start out dark and stiff, and gradually soften up, lighten up and conform to whatever shape you have. They are men's jeans, I suppose, but I'm a woman and they're great.

Very glad that these bitter chocolate original 501's shrink-to-fit Levis came back in stock in my size! Very comfortable and I like the color very much. As with a couple other of my reviews regarding these colored 501's, make sure to purchase them in your normal size. Unlike the rigid blue denim shrink-to-fit the colored ones will NOT shrink an inch or more in the waist, nor will they shrink more than a 1/2" in length. I washed my new ones in warm water and dried them in a warm dryer and they came out perfect.

These 501s shrank to the right size... but it was then cleat that they were NOT the same as the original 501s. These have much tighter straight legs. I called Zappos... told the girl my observation. She was clue and told me to check with Levis directly. I felt let down.

I love the color and quality and fit. As I wrote in my review of the same jean in Bitter Chocolate, make sure you buy these in the size you are use to wearing! These and the brown ones are listed as "shrink to fit", but they are not the same material as the real original rigid blue denim Levis, and I found out the hard way that they will not shrink the same.

I loved the color and style, however beware, these Levis are sold as shrink to fit, yet they are not the same material as the original denim blue jean 501's, they did not shrink after washing and drying! Zappos customer care is outstanding, they accepted them as a return item when I explained the problem. Buy these in your normal size! Unfortunately there were no more brown jeans in the size I actually wear, so I purchased the thyme green color and they are nice looking and fit great!

These were a gift for my son. He specifically prefers shrink to fit 501 Levis. While he likes them and can wear them, they are not shrink to fit. Apparently they are just the original version, not shrink to fit.

I like the classic look and fit of Levi’s 501’s. The shrink to fit style has a vintage look and feel. Fit is comfortable and have worn it almost everyday for almost two weeks to break it in without having to wash it.

I have a small waist (30) in the majority of pants with vanity sizing. Technically my waste is 32, like most advertised 30 waist pants. Anyway, my advice is get your normal size. If you wear a 30 in Levi's then get a 30. The larger the pants, the more the shrinkage, so that rule may not apply if you're a 38, for instance, but I know nothing about that. . With that size, the waste shrinks a hair but stretches back out after an hour of wearing. Buy 2 inch minimum longer in length. The 8 inch pant leg opening is how all jeans should be. Good pants if you want a slim fit but have big calves and most slim fitting pants are like a Chinese finger trap on your calves. After having really nice selvedge denim, however, the quality of these jeans is crap in comparison. But for 40 bucks, you can't really go wrong... But I'll never pay more than 40 for them. . I always soak them by themselves in bath tub with scalding water and dry hot in dryer, before I wear them. If I like the way they shrunk, they will never go in a dryer again. Otherwise I wear them till dirty and then repeat that scalding water and then hot dryer process until they've shrunk enough. If they shrink "too much" they will stretch back out where they need to to be comfortable. Wash them rarely after that and hang dry. I dislike when you get too much color bleeding and the white weft gets stained the warp color. Eventually with wear, that sorts itself out tho.. but I try to avoid that from happening by not putting them in the actual washing machine. Even during the shrinking process, I do it by hand in the tub.

Been wearing the same 501STF Levi's for 30 years. Wear like iron, wash twice before first wearing and go from there. Buy 3 or 4 at a time.

Everything is great Best jeans I've ever worn. Too bad that their not made in America. I think these jeans are all I will wear the rest of my life. 501 shrink to fit are the best, and last the longest.

I've been wearing button fly shrink to fit 501s for over 40 years. They are the best. They last for years, they are just classic goodness. After about 3 years of wash and wear, they get even better. They actually increase in value with fading and wear. My kids compliment me on my jeans. The only problem is if you put on weight before they reach their faded peak. I guess you could sell them for more than what you paid for them new. Just rip a couple holes in them and add even more value.
