These are very light weight. I was hoping for a bit more in arch support, but they will do.

I have generally found New Balance shoes to be a good fit for my foot, so I bought these a few months ago. Took a while to break in, they needed to be stretched as the width was a bit tight on my foot. The worst part, however, was after wearing them for a few months, the sole started to come apart. The long thin piece along the side of the heel came unglued. I superglued it back on, but it doesn't stay so I can't wear the shoe anymore for safety reasons.

They are a lot longer than any other 7½ sized shoes that I have bought. They eat my socks on my left foot which makes me miserable. Get at least half a size smaller than what you actually wear.

Disappointed in the feel of shoe. Have other New Balances that I have used for running and walking that have felt great. Bought these for work as I need all black and does not have the same cushion as my others and seems narrower as it hurts the top of my feet.

This is my fourth or fifth pair that I have ordered from Zappos. These shoes are good! But the flaps are not long enough! On the white shoes, especially, the Velcro at the arch gets dirty, and there is no way to clean them. I have tried 409, Shout, etc. to no avail. I do not like to walk around with clothes, or shoes, that look dirty. This is not Zappos' fault; it is the New Balance Company. But I think that Zappos should take it up with New Balance.

These shoes are rather comfortable. They felt slightly narrower for me.

I was looking for the 407 walking shoe but I guess they don't make it anymore. I always buy NB and the same size each time, and this model was huge on my feet. Also the claim is a SL 2 last which I think is supposed to be narrow at the heel and wide at the box. These were just big all the way around. I sent them back right away, and guess I will stick with the 577, which is consistent with size and last.

Runs small...all of my shoes are 8.5 and these were a tad short. I was buying these for my mother who wears the same size but needed a wider shoe so I ordered the D. I tried it on my foot and it was more snug than any 8.5 sized shoe that I own and I don't wear any wides. So I'm wondering how this is considered a wide?

Since every body is different, you may want to take my opinion with a grain of salt. I have high arches with a tendency to underpronate and I work a job where I'm on my feet all day. Within 3 hours of wearing these shoes, my feet were aching. By the end of a 12-hour shift, that pain had spread up my legs, back, and neck. Wearing these shoes felt like I was wearing tissue boxes on my feet. They were tight around the ankle (even after loosening the ties and foregoing the top two holes for lacing), and they were visibly baggy around my foot. You could see that they looked like stiff balloons covering my feet. Horrible, horrible shoes. I've purchased New Balance before, and I've loved every pair except this one. I don't know if I've got a defective product, or if this is the intended design, but this is a big clunky shoe, not light and flexible for natural movement.
