These look cute but are so uncomfortable! I wear an 8, regular width. These have a narrow toe box and a wide heel and the sole is like a board. Just to clarify, they're very snug around my toes with no room to spare and barely touch my heel on either side or back, it just slides all over the place, exacerbated by the hard sole - guaranteed to cause many a blister. Its like the schizophrenic boot - it can't decide if it wants to be narrow or wide. In short, these are the most uncomfortable boots I've ever tried on. What a shame! These will be going back.

If you have large calves, give these boots a try! I've returned countless boots over the last year trying to find a pair that will accommodate my muscular runner's calves. These zipped right up! They are absolutely beautiful. I got the dark brown stone antiqued leather, and am thinking about getting the black antique as well. They are about an inch taller than the Veronica Slouch (I have a pair of those from a few years ago), but they are so much prettier than the regular Veronicas. These have more structure and an overall more refined look, but still with an edge. They will look great tucked into jeans, and since they have the back zip, they are much easier to get those jeans tucked in. I highly recommend these boots for all you athletic ladies!

I love these boots! Great style and the antiqued leather is a great look. I usually wear a 7 and the 7 seems to fit although I will have to wear thin socks. I have read many reviews that say Frye's are snug at first, but to give the leather some time to stretch and form to your foot. I'm wearing thick socks with them around the house to try to stretch them a bit. The zipper on the back is such a great look but they do irritate my heels a bit. I'm really hoping this will subside over time.

These boots are awesome! I have athletic legs so I had originally ordered the Veronica Slouch extended but they were too large in the calf. My calves measure 14.5 and the Veronica Zip are plenty large enough to wear with skinny jeans tucked in. I take an 8-8.5 so I ordered the 8.5. If you are in between like me, order the half size up. Overall the quality is excellent, they are comfortable and the style is edgy yet classic! I highly recommend!!

I just received these boots today and I absolutely love them! They are exactly what I was looking for and they fit very well. However, they do not run true to size. I am normally a 4½ in women's or a 2½ in kids and I got the 5½ hoping they would fit with thick socks but they actually fit my very well with normal socks. I have a narrow to normal metatarsal and a narrow heel. The boots fit perfectly through my metatarsal but they are a little big at the heel but it is not really an issue. If you have wide metatarsals these boots probably will not fit you very well because they are comfortable but snug on my relatively skinny feet. My calves are about 12½'' around and these boots fit them perfectly. Overall these boots are beautiful and well worth the price. If you can, I would recommend trying them on in store before buying them because you may not end up being your normal size as I am a whole size bigger than my normal one.

The boots are great- a little shorter than I'm used to (they're maybe an inch under my knee, and I'm 5'9"), but perfect for a relaxed classic biker look without all the studs and straps. My only issue with these boots is I can sometimes feel the zipper on my heel, but it doesn't rub or anything. It would just be nice if the zipper flange went all the way down to the bottom of the zipper.

These Veronica Back Zip boots are fabulous! Like other reviewers have commented, the Cognac is a rich, gorgeous color! I'm 5'2, slim calves, narrow feet and always order size 6 in Fryes, 1/2 size smaller than usual 6.5 in shoes. Because others said these ran small, I ordered both the 6 and 6.5. The 6 fit best in the shaft and my right foot (which is slightly shorter than the left). The buckles can be cinched up to fit my slimmer calves without detracting from the style. The top of the shaft comes about 2" below my knee - very nice. A little slippage in the heels which is normal. There is a little pressure on top of my left toes, which is especially uncomfortable with socks, quite tolerable without. The 6.5's are much roomier in the toebox with no pressure at all, but they slip so much in the heel that it feels like I'm walking out of them. I haven't decided yet which pair to keep, but the style is so hot, the leather so gorgeous, and the Cognac so rich, that I will keep one or the other. Hooray for boots that fit slim calves! (If you have slim legs, the Karla Engineer are also fantastic!) Love Frye boots, love Zappos!

Writing a follow up review after wearing them for a week. I originally purchased two pairs of these in a 6.5 and a 7. I have a 15 inch calf from running and ballet, I'm 118, and 5'2 to give you an idea. The 7s I thought fit great at first but worried they would stretch from some of the reviews. The 6.5 size, however, was so tight on my toebox that while I could squeeze my foot in and after a while forget they were on...my toes went numb. I've always had the philosophy, if it doesn't fit somewhat comfortable out of the box, then I shouldn't hope that they will stretch. Friends of mine that own Frye boots told me there of course is some stretch and break in but not to expect a 1/2 size to a size. So after a week of walking around and switching the two in my house, I decided to go with my normal size 7. They are comfortable and if there is some stretch beyond my normal size, I'll simply add an insert or wear a thicker sock. The quality of these boots is not matched by many others. I recently ordered another pair on closeout in a different brand and while the tag on them said "genuine leather" they looked plastic and cheap compared to these Frye Veronica Back zip boots. These are absolutely amazing and after wearing them out just one day, I got so many compliments from people I do know and don't know. They are definitely a head turner. I hope to get many years out of these for sure. Zappos as always is awesome to do business with. They are responsive and the easy method of returns can't be beat.

These boots are amazing! They are pricy, but definitely worth every penny....the quality is obvious right when you open the box. I got the cognac, a beautiful color, not orange at all like it looks in the picture. I was uncertain if they would fit my calves but had no problem, they zipped right up! I did order a full size bigger than I normally wear & they fit perfect. I'm so glad I decided to bite the bullet & buy these boots! The only problem is that now I want them in black!

Every winter the longing for boots would come over me, and I'd start looking at Zappos. Every winter I'd order a pair or three. And every winter Zappos would send me a pair or three and I'd send them back with regret and vow to stop looking for boots. Because I have the dreaded athletic calves (I did 60 miles last week!) and everything was either too tight or gapped strangely at the top. And then I tried these. The zipper was hard to work at first and I disliked the zipper at the heel. But after wearing them for a few minutes these just felt like My boots. With no funny gaps at the top. And they already feel comfortably broken in. I like the rubber outsole, since there's no break in time and better grip than with leather soles. I got these in the dark brown antique and they do look a bit distressed, but I like the look. And thank you Zappos! My athletic calves are in boots and they look fabulous.

Hello, sexy boots! The Veronica Back Zip is the perfect riding boot - super stylish in a rugged, not-trying-too-hard sort of way. They will go with just about anything. I have a medium-sized calf (I like to think of them as "sturdy"), and unlike some Frye boots that have a pretty small circumference, these leave just enough room for a pair of skinny jeans without squeezing or gapping. I ordered a half size larger than normal based on other reviews, but for me, these ran true to size. I traded back down for my 8.5, and they feel much better. That said, here are some tips for a better boot experience: 1) Wear a boot sock, especially during the break-in period. These boots have a wide heel and a narrow toe box. A boot sock will help with both areas, providing girth in the heel and cushioning in the toe while the upper and bed mold to your foot shape. 2) The straps aren't just for show! Even though they serve a fashion purpose, the straps over the top and at the back of the boot can also provide a more secure heel fit if you tighten them a notch. Like any quality boot, these don't fit perfectly right out of the box. But, also like any quality boot, I could tell right away that it would only take a few days of wear before they fit like a glove. I'm in love.

These boots are amazing. They are super comfortable, the color is great. Not as "orange" as shown in picture. I typically wear a 7 1/2 and I wish I had bought the 8 as these are a little snug. Still wearing them though. Only downside, the snaps come undone multiple times during the day. It doesn't bother me, but it might drive some people nuts.

This is my first tall boot. I really needed something that I could wear to walk around in a lot. I ordered two of these to decide between two colors--kept the Cognac, it's not nearly as bright as pictured and is beautiful. At first I tried these on (7.5, my usual size) with thicker winter socks, but wound up getting some thinner socks, and with the latter the boots were great. There was a little rubbing on the back of one heel, and it was a little tight across one toe box. But I took these, after only one day or breaking in, on a trip as my only shoe and wore them for four days straight, walking all over NYC, day and night. Originally I would have preferred to wear pants outside of the boots, but none of mine have a wide enough flare, so I usually wear it with skinnies and skirts. Makes some jingling noise when I walk, but this could be remedied in a lot of ways. I do periodically have the snaps come undone, but usually it's something I've inadvertently done myself. Beautiful boot, great craftsmanship.

This is my very first pair of Frye boots and I wasn't sure what to expect or even if I wanted to pay that much money. I kept thinking about them. So of course I did the logical thing and bought them. At first I bought these in a nine because I read a few reviews where they ran small. Not the case for me. I had to exchange them for my normal 8.5. But these boots are absolute lovely! The leather is nice and thick, and the zippers aren't that bad to get up and down. I wish the arch was a little better for how much they cost. But other than that, I'm love love with them! A must buy. :)

I love this boot. It looks great and is comfortable. As other commenters noted, the snaps do unsnap every now and then if they catch on something; however, I don't find it to be too much of a problem. My biggest complaint is that the leather scratches easily. I've decided I can live with it, as it makes the boot look more worn-in. However, if you're looking for a more polished look, this isn't the right boot for you. Order a half-size bigger than usual.

Ah, Frye boots. I've always wanted a pair of Fryes so I took the plunge on these ones. I'm a consistent size 6, but I ordered a 6.5 based on other reviews. I think it was the right choice. The heel is loose, but according to Frye's website that's how it is supposed to be at first. The zipper on one side pokes the back of my ankle, but I that will go away with time. They aren't fully broken in yet, but I've worn them twice for short periods and they already feel better. The quality is superb and the color is rich (not as orange as the picture). I think these are going to be a fabulous fall boot. I recommend going up 1/2 a size and allowing ample break in time.

Been eyeing Frye boots for YEARS. Love these - run maybe a bit small, half size up would be good! Doing and undoing the three buttons can be annoying if you're in and out of your shoes, but so nice anyway.

I've only had the boots for one day and I LOVE them! Great quality and fashionable look (not too much detail or too plain...just right). The only problem was a snap was not secured correctly on the heal so I have to return them! Thank goodness for Zappos return policy!

These boots are awesome. I have larger calves and these are a little snug at the top of the zipper, but because they are real leather will loosen up over time. I got the Frye Philip back zip boots a year ago and that is exactly what happened with them. They fit perfectly now without being obnoxiously big on my calves as some extended calf boots are. These have a good tread on the sole, which makes them good for slippery conditions. The buckles snap into place I have had no issues with them coming un-snapped. Overall very happy with my new boots.

Beautiful and great quality leather boots! Two things: (1) The foot part is longer than my size, but super tight. I had to get them stretched to fit my feet comfortably - No big deal. I still love them! (2) Skinny Shaft - I have a hard time finding boots that are good fit - so this actually worked for me.

I love this boot so much I bought a brown and a black pair. Toe bed a bit narrow and slightly smaller than expected. I have had them for a couple years and still look awesome. The snaps have broken multiple times but Frye fixed them for free (not shipping)under the warranty fir a year. Now I have to pay.

Very sharp boots, beautiful leather, rich color. I had originally ordered these in a 6; I couldn't get the zipper up over my athletic calves. I reordered ina 6.5. I can wear them over thin leggings-I hope they will stretch eventually so I can wear them over jeans.

I initially ordered these boots in a size 8 based on the reviews that they run small. However, I did have to exchange them for a 7 1/2, my true size. I can wear them with a thin sock and they are super comfortable and stylish. The weathered look is very unique and a bit rugged. I have received tons of compliments! Only one negative report is that the leather is very easily scratched and that adds to the overall look of the rugged boot.

Love my boots. i ordered these hoping they would be wide enough for my calves. they are wider than some i have tried but still very tight for me. i did some research and was able to widen them. i found them to be comfortable. my feet are a little wide but because of the treatment i did to widen the calve everything is perfect.
