Great product, I have no problems with it not standing up fully on it's own (no backpacks really do this unless very full). I like the separate laptop pocket. Same quality materials as my 2014 Recon.

Great product! I have no problems with it not standing upright on it's own....most backpacks don't do that unless they are completely full. I purchased this as an upgrade from my 2013 Recon and am very happy with it!

Bought this as my everyday work backpack and I am really enjoying it. I love the mesh front as I can throw whatever I need in there (keys, wallet) and it's easy to access. I don't think it's spacious enough to be the only bag on an overnight trip, but maybe if I really stuffed it. My only note is that the water bottle pockets on the side stiff (not mesh) are hard to pack when the inner compartments are full.

I've had a Northface Recon backpack for 6 years and decided it was finally time to get a new one! Just like my old backpack, this one is wonderful and has all the pockets and space for things I need. Great for work, as a personal item for traveling, and for school!

I love this backpack! I had the older version all through college and then gave it away. I have missed it ever since and I am so thrilled with the new version!! It's great for work, travel, everything. The separat computer pocket is a huge win compared to other backpacks. Also it packs down very skinny when you don't have a ton of stuff. Can not say enough good things about this!

Great for walking around a college campus! Holds everything I need for classes and doesn't hurt my back. Lots of pockets and easily holds my 30 oz water bottle with out being too heavy.

I bought this to replace my 12-year-old North Face Recon backpack that finally lost its water resistance. This one is smaller than the prior version but perfect for my needs. Comfortable on hikes, keeps my things dry in the rain, and an abundance of pockets to organize my gear. Love it.

I was looking for a backpack that has more support/padding for my back without being too bulky, and this one is PERFECT. The size isn't too large (or small) for commuting, and the laptop sleeve perfectly fits my 15 inch Macbook. I also love the front pocket; I often shove my keys or other small items in here, but love that the mesh sleeve is colored enough that you can't see the mess inside.

I plan to use both as carryon when traveling and day hikes so when backpack arrived, I immediately packed as if traveling. I could easily fit my 13-inch macbook air in its case, a book, multiple changes of clothing, windbreaker etc. I put waterbortle in front pocket. For day hikes, it is lightweight enough to not be bulky. Comfortable fit/easy adjustable straps.

I purchased this backpack to use for school. When it first arrived I was excited about the look and feel of the backpack overall. Pockets are nicely lined and I was able to fit my laptop, empty binder, 2 single subject notebooks and a pencil pouch in the main pouch comfortably. Now the issues I had with the backpack.. The straps when warn comfortably the backpack was up so high on my back it was right up to my neck, and there is a random plastic piece at the top under the material that rubs against my neck/head if I turn my head in any direction or look up. When I lowered the straps so the backpacks was more comfortable, (besides the super stiff back) the straps inside of the straps point upwards and do not lay flat on the shoulders. The back is so stiff and there is zero flex to this backpack at all so don't expect any sort of comfort from that. It is nicely padded but it doesn't help with the comfort. The corners of this backpack are sharp and when you bend to the side they poke. Very disappointed in this backpack!

Overall, I love this bag. It was stiff at first but after a month or so the straps and back were more comfortable. The pockets are great, especially the fleece lined sleeves for a computer, tablet, and phone. It is also pretty water resistant as I walked across campus in the pouring rain and all my stuff stayed dry. The only downside is that the water bottle holders are not very durable. I always carry a water bottle and one of the holders started to tear after only having this bag for a few months.

I use this bag every darn day. I ride a scooter, and I need a reliable bag in order to get all my stuff around with me. I actually got mine on sale half off! This bag is great! It usually takes me about a month to ruin something I use every day...I overpack things, drop it, the cats try to attack it, spill stuff on it, tear it, etc. My recon bag is still in perfect condition after using it over a year. Highly recommend!! The things I usually bring in it are a bulky laptop, clothes, makeup, hairbrush, phone and charger, notepad, books, and always my water bottle. Plenty of room! I've also used it as a personal item on flights and taken it camping.

I loved the color of the backpack but I was disappointed with how stiff it was and how quickly it tore from the shoulder strap area. I'm not sure if mine was defective but I only had it for 5-6 months and I only carried my macbook, a five subject notebook, cell and laptop chargers and snacks while walking around campus. There was no way it should've torn so quickly and easily.

I had a different north face backpack for 10 years of school use it finally gave out. I got this one to replace it and I have to say out of all the brands of backpacks I have used north face really stands the test of time. I am in my first year of college and I know this will take me beyond my four years. It is even comfyier than the first one and is easier on my back and shouldres. The only thing is the colors in the photos seem bolder than what you get

The North Face Recon backpack for women is very functional and the eggplant color is great!! The only problem is that this women-specific version was too small for my (female) 5’9” frame. This pack’s rigid support dug into my lower back just above the curve of my butt (the pack frame seemed too short for me). The straps also seemed too short and were too close together near my neck. The sternum strap had to be adjusted as low as possible on the shoulder straps to be even remotely comfortable, and the hip belt had to be extended to its full length to even go around me. Otherwise, the Recon is a great pack for the price point. It has plenty of padding, adjustability pack space and functionality. Sooo... I went with the “non-women-specific” version of this pack and it is a bazillion times more comfortable for me. The straps are longer, they’re spaced further away from my neck, and the pack sits lower on my back, eliminating the pain from the rigid frame support jamming into my lower back right above my butt. The hip belt is wider and longer, too, with room for adjustability. The downside of going with the “non-women-specific” version of this pack is that the only color remotely acceptable and attractive to me in this version of the Recon was the black. B-O-R-I-N-G. PLEASE, North Face— make this pack in pretty colors for us more “Amazon-like” women! We may be bigger women, but we still love color! When I buy another North Face Recon pack in 10 years or so ??, I’ll be expecting a much larger and prettier color selection. Thanks. ??
