Works well and quite comfortable. Definitely would recommend

Would have preferred if the "large storage" areas were a bit bigger. Initially drawn to the colors (told that for a trip I should avoid certain colors). Liked the straps for beverage bottle and to add a jacket at the bottom. But found the other storage areas a bit tight for use.

I have used it traveling through airport. I love it.

Like that the water bottle holder is not web design as those tend to stretch out and useless. Good space inside for laptop, lunch, other items. Seems to have high quality construction which is expected from North Face.

I love my Recon backpack it's really nice with the space it provides and I like the pockets it has too!

The backpack holds a lot! It is light and airy, I do not sweat a lot. Love the lined-pocket in the front for sunglasses/delicate items

All of the qualities of this backpack are great. The amount of pockets and storage combined with the quality of the material and construction make for an awesome backpack to fit any situation. Can't wait to get lots of use out of this.

I use the backpack as my work bag. It's great; holds a lot, padded straps, many different pockets. I love organization. The quality seems good as well, we will see how it holds up over time.

I really love the quality of this backpack, so it's perfect for all the things needed to carry at school. Especially with all the different pockets.

Love my new backpack! Right now I'm using it to hold everything I need to go on outings with my granddaughter. Diapers, change of clothes, and snacks easily fit in one compartment. My keys, wallet, etc., fit in other compartments. It's nicely designed, and soon I will be using it on airplane trips.

The Recon backpack is my favorite backpack. I have used on hundreds of trips, both for business and for pleasure. I have written about it and recommended it to everyone. Out of curiosity, I ordered the updated version to test it out and some of my favorite features of the Recon have been replaced. The side pockets are considerably smaller, I can fit a thigh-length packable down coat in the old Recon pockets. The front pocket no longer has the ability to cinch down when packed which is such a nice feature. The straps that cinch the sides and front pocket not only help keep whatever you have packed in the front pocket in, but I was able to use those clipped straps to secure my water bottle when out and about, keeping it in my bag when jostled about. The back padding has been significantly reduced, which is a great feature of the regional Recon. I also preferred the top pocket on the old Recon tho it could have been slightly larger. That's where I keep my essentials on a flight, and it's a quick stash pocket for my passport and wallet when moving through the airport. The new pocket is nice in its depth but less handy, especially if you are actually using the front stretchy pocket as I do, typically for a light jacket or two. The new front pocket also looks like it would stretch out easily and without the cinching feature with the straps will just look messy and not be functional after a short period. It would also be great if marketing did a better job of showing all of the pockets, inside and out, and how they are used on all backpacks; it would be easier to make decisions. I do like the water-resistant feature of the updated Recon (I tested the Luxe), but not enough to compensate for the other features that went away. I'll keep an eye out for the next version, and I'm glad my original Recon has a lot of life left in it. Sadly I can't recommend the new version on my website.

I bought my granddaughter this backpack for school next year. She picked it out and she loves it.

Durable backpack for travel! Holds most laptops and is comfortable to wear if you're walking around for a long time

Great quality and pockets. The straps limit the sizing of the backpack though and the side pockets are tight. I can barely fit my water bottle. I wish there was a way to make the backpack expandable with the straps like in the earlier model. Overall great product with high value.

Used for work to carry relatively light items (tablet, journal, pens, wallet). Seams tore easily. This version seems to be less durable than past Recon backpack I owned. I still like the design format of pocket placement for Recon.

Bought it for the wife. She loves it. The blue-ish color looks great. But also good to attract dirt marks. It is spacious and seems will last for long time. Great for daily work/college use.

Day hikes and airplane travel. This pack replaces an old northface day pack. Wow, nice pack, curved front shoulder straps, padded in the right spot, padded back. Pack cinches to a smaller volume, which is quite handy.
