This is crazy! My shoes are unwearable because of the smell. The smell comes from the soft rubber on the bottom of the shoe, not even inside. I thought it was just me and I came on to order a new pair and saw the reviews. It's a shame because I love the shoes and have worn NB for years but will be waiting for them to change the model.

I purchased a pair of these shoes about a year ago -- and they were a bit of a disappointment to me. They quickly fell apart at the rear heels of both shoes. I need these shoes to fit my custom orthotics and thought I would try again and perhaps have better luck.

Like previous reviewers have said, this pair of shoes begins to rot and smell after 1-6 months. Washing and drenching in anti-bacterial cleaner doesn't help... Definitely not recommended.

I purchased M990 and also had problem with soles rotting away with cat pee smell so bad I had to throw them out. I love the fit but this was the second pair I had this problem!

I ordered this shoe for my 14 year old son for school. He has worn them for 5 days. The rubber sole is already coming apart from the material in the shoe. I am going to see if there is any kind of return available on the item since it is already falling apart.

This is the 2nd pair I've tried that is too small even though I've worn the same 10-1/2 forever and have purchased several pairs of these same tennies at 10-1/2. I'm now going up a half size in hopes that they fit.

I have purchased many NB 993s...and found them to be great. Attempted this 990 and found them to be very uncomfortable. I think NB made a mistake on this model. Not sure what it is, but can't hold the proverbial candle to the 993. I returned mine for full refund. I would classify this model as "A Awful!"
