Throw out the flat, thin shoe pad that comes with these MW928 and replace with a thick, quality shoe support. Shocked that such a crappy, thin, hard pad liner ships with a shoe at this price from Zappos. I have other MW928 in leather and these are like tractors, they are very comfortable (after you replace the pads) and wear very well. I wanted a pair to keep clean and nicer than the ones that I use in the yard and on dirty jobs. The gray color looks subtle and neutral for casual wear.

What a blessing it was to finally find a pair of shoes that help relieve most of my pain from my plantar fasciitis. 928 run about 1/2 size big, a sturdy and we'll made shoe. My only issue is, need more colors!

Zappos is the only place where I shop for my husband's shoes because he has extra wide (4E) feet. This pair is a replacement of an older model of New Balance. The shoes look semi-formal which is a plus for casual dressing. But how it performs on snow and ice is questionable because the bottom treads are much flatter than the previous shoes. We tried to find a similar pair of New Balance with deeper treads but New Balance seems to have embrace the new treads across many of its shoes.

This shoe was suggested for use with my custom orthotics. It does that just fine. I am not sure but maybe a slight inconsistency between the shoe as the roll-bar seems to be felt more on the left foot and non-existent feel on the right shoe. I got these because of the mesh paneling for lighter weight over the all leather. Nice roomy toe box if you have toe bunion or cramping issues. Used for work as I tend to supinate (roll outward) and it works for that. Need mesh versions in Black as well or even brown mesh for work shoes...lucky I can wear white for my job.

Nice shoe very stark white though. I wish the "N" was blue or some trim. Looks like something worn in a hospital. Mesh is nice and cool. And cushioning and support are excellent.

I was a bit apprehensive about getting this shoe, since reviews have said it's as good as the 927. But I have not had anything to complain about. I'm glad I got them.

Bought these before a trip to Disney World. I knew there would be a lot of walking and these shoes were quite comfortable. Pro: Comfortable - good padding, very good lateral support. Spot on size. Con: Very heavy shoe. Needed more arch support. Don't care for the all white design. Very easy to get dirty and hard to clean.

Male, 70, bought and have used the shoes for about six weeks for exercise walking 1-2 miles per day. I had worn the 844 shoe for several years and they were great but now worn out. Bad reviews on the 846 led me to this shoe. So far, it's excellent. Very good fit, well made, comfortable and supportive. Very pleased except for high price - let's hope they last. NB could add a little dark blue or black trim so they don't look so much like nurse's shoes.

This was my first pair of MW 928. I've always worn the MW 812 in the past. The 928 is not quite as "pillowy" or forgiving as the 812, feels firmer on the foot, requires a bit of breaking in (which the 812 never required). But it has outstanding lateral support and it's reasonably comfortable if you get the right size. Note that the 928 is much narrower than the 812, so if you wear a 4E in the 812, you will definitely need a 6E in the 928. The only reason I switched to the 928 was to get a pair of dark brown shoes, since the 812 does not come in this color. If the 812 were available in dark brown, I would have preferred it.

My husband has had several pairs of this shoe, which he prefers for walking. He loved the MW927, but now that it is MW928 he feels the quality is somewhat diminished so thus the 4 stars. Despite that fact he still thinks the shoe is great for walking, has a sturdy, wide base, and quality of leather still quite nice. He wears a 10 1/2 D and this shoe fits true. He has the shoe in brown and white and wears them frequently.

I should start by saying that I find it almost impossible to find shoes that fit. Only two in my life I can say were super comfortable. One was a pair of Red Wing king toe shoes and the other the NB 1123's. I have been searching ever since. I wear an 11.5 Wide. I have a large toe that curves up more than the others and need the toe space and a narrow heel. I have tried the NB 1569 in the store and thought the toe box was too small, and they were supposed to replace the 1123's. I also recently bought a pair of 840v2's that are just okay. They are on the NB SL-3 lasting, but I wear SL-2. So the tongue on the 840v2 rubs too much as I am walking and I have tried loosening the laces but nothing fit me like the 1123. Many people who liked that shoe are in the same boat. I tried these because they are the same SL-2 lasting. I got 11.5 2E size and the length was okay. The heel is narrow and the mid section is higher, all good. But the width is not as wide as the 2E should be. So I returned them. I ordered the 11.5 4E and will update when those get in. Hopefully they are the right fit because I am getting desperate for comfortable shoes. If New Balance reads comments...for all of us that loved the 1123's, please bring them back! Put me down for 10 pairs if they fit the same as before!

This is a good, solid shoe for everyday. It is not fancy or trendy, but fits well and offers ample support.

I have worn the MW926 for years and loved them. Passed on the MW927 because of bad reviews. The MW928 are as good as the 926. However, one of the pairs I bought squeaks. Returned it and the replacement squeaks also. Must be poor quality control in that regard. Regardless, this is an excellent, comfortable shoe that is the best I have found. Also, the arch support is not intrusive. Which is good for me as I can't wear a high arch shoe.

The 926 Model is still my favorite. The most comfortable shoe on the market. I owned several pairs. Then the 927's came out. A noticeable decrease in quality. Nowhere near the comfort. And then there is the 928 Model. A huge step down in quality! Hard as a rock without the comfort NB is known for. Replacing the insole did help. The only reason I own a pair is because that's all NB offers. Bring back the 926 Model. In the meantime, I've tried the 677 Walking shoe. I like that they're made in the US but...nope. Can anyone recommend another company? KF Charleston, WV

I was a bit disappointed, as I was accustomed to the 927, the previous iteration of the shoe. I felt that the uppers were of an inferior quality, and there was a lack of support across the toes were the laces start. the sole was a bit denser, I felt it didn't have the same bounce. however since the 927 was discontinued, I must soldier on because these do have a proper narrow fit, and that is what is paramount to me.

Like others I previously bought the 927. I still have a black 927 that has only been worn a few times so I can compare that still new one to the 928. They seem to be about the same from a comfort standpoint, but do seem a little smaller. I originally bought the same size as the 927 and ended up returning those and buying the next larger size. My sense is that the middle of shoe (the arch area) is a little tighter. That doesn't bother me and in fact I think I like it a little better. I also thought the toe box was smaller and that is why I went up a size. I have always the heel area was bigger than needed for both the 927 & 928. In fact if I remember correctly, I felt that way about the 927 predecessor as well (can't remember that model).

They feel good but are not nearly the shoe as the previous 926 & 927 models. Hope they wear better that other reviews are reporting.

Preferred the original style for fit as I have a very wide toe box. But saying that, these are extremely comfortable first time wearing. I will buy again.

It's good. A little stiff at first - but once broken in, a good walking shoe. Beware - you will look like a complete dork if you wear these. Super clunky and orthopedic looking.

These are flat out the best walking/ general use shoes in memory and the best New Balance model for heavy people. I'm 300+ pounds and devastate lesser New Balance trainers. The Stiff heal striker really works to reduce fatigue on long walks as the muscles in the foot have to do far less work to keep the foot stable. It is very noticeable as I walk several miles per day. I like the fact that they have a "producty" appearance also and are somewhat geometric. I don't like the hyper-organic shapes of some of the shoes on the market today. Bottom line is that these shoes are very comfortable and my feet are less fatigued/ sore after my long walks, despite my gargantuan heft.

It fit good but a bit stiff solid arch and sole color more "gray" than I thought it would be judging from picture. All in all a solid shoe but pricey.

I am tall and weigh 220 lbs. I walk on hard pavement (to my office in Manhattan) so I need a shoe with a robust sole. This is it. Re the arch support - to be frank, I rely on an insert by Danner and suggest you do the same, if that is your issue.

While I am glad New Balance came out with a 6E size for this shoe and it is comfortable more work needs to be done. 1: Straps need to be longer and thicker for both comfort and durability, mine are showing wear after less then two months. 2: Tongue is too narrow and short. Fix these two areas and this will be the best shoe for the price on the market.
