I was given the Milk Cafe as a gift, to replace a smaller milk frother that I used everyday. I'm happy with the Milk Cafe, although it is noisier. I also wish I could use less half and half for the minimum amount. Otherwise, I love it!

This is easily one of my favorite housewares. It made every morning that much nicer, making the perfect lattes. But I have trouble with it working-sometimes it grinds, sometimes it won't spin and keeps beeping. Sad, but I keep trying it!

We love this milk frother, but it only lasted one year, just outside the warranty period. Others have mentioned this problem, so when we replaced our year-old unit, we bought the extended 3-year warranty. We'll see how that goes.

The Milk Caf's quick-ish milk heating and foaming while preparing the espresso machine and shots. Clean up is simple and requires little work before enjoying a fresh latte.
My only reservation are the inability to make microfoam. I have tried numerous variations to make microfoam and only found one fairly reliable method. Starting with eggnog up to the minimum line and topping with skim milk in order for a consistancy for coffee art. Unfortunately, eggnog is seasonally available and now I am trying more methods. Has anyone figured out my dilemma?

We like this steamer. When we go to start it sometimes the unit will not start heating or swirling and it then turns off. I make sure all parts are secure and then try again. Sometimes it works and other times it stops. We wait until the milk heats a bit before adding granules. We like hot cocoa so add the cocoa mix once the milk has heated a bit because otherwise it seems to bog down the machine and we are not sure if that is good for the machine?

Nice carafe. The only thing that could improve is the noise as it's warming up.

Reliable use for 2 years so far with no problems. I like this for the temperature control and that it is not lined with additives. It also is distinguished in its higher volume capacity. I don't own a dishwasher, but cleaning this is very simple and no fuss.
I usually use 16 ounces or go to the max line, but have used minimum when I was low on milk. Usually use whole milk, Sometimes made hot cocoa, but usually am adding to coffee, tea/chai, or matcha.
I do not like the amount of air in the "cappuccino" frother, so I use the other one. Sometimes I used to also use a French press for that thickening of pumping the milk through the sieve, but I need the Breville for precise temp control. I heat milk to make iit easier to digest and the heat sweetens it. (See James Hoffmann on his you tube for making milk drinks without an espresso machine where he discusses ideal temperature.)
I guess this was my "pandemic splurge" as before I had been heating milk on stovetop and using a thermometer to avoid scalding, which required vigilance.
The only issue I ever had was when I was at fault as I reread directions. Once, the base was not on a level surface, so that was the only time it did not heat. Once I did not press the disk in firmly. AND when I was at fault for not putting in a disk at all, it did begin to scald because it needs to keep the milk moving. Those 3 errors were not following directions, were rectified , and the thing has been working fine ever since.

Works rather well. I like the ability to make a large quantity of milk (I use this for making hot chocolate), but the one disappointing thing is the ability to make a smaller quantity of milk due to the minimum amount needed. For the cost, it would be nice to have the ability to make large small or any size in between

Works like a dream. So easy to use with little to no learning curve. Easy to clean. My only issue is that I wish I could make the temperature for my drinks a bit hotter.

Verified Purchase
I use my Breville every day! I tried a couple of different products that worked so so prior to purchasing this one. I read many reviews and I now realize that most don't at all apply to me. Most people wrote about issues w starting of this device. I have yet to experience this problem. It starts every time with a touch of a button. My only and huge issue is that this device is very unpredictable in what it delivers. Sometimes the froth is super thick, other times (most of the times) it's just the heated milk with a little foam on top. I never really know what I'm going to get. I have used 1% and 2% milk as well as chocolate milk. I have tried different brands of milk. I might get 2x in a row very nice thick froth and then I'm back to just warm milk w a little foam (this happens with both of the buttons that are included and doesn't seem to correlate with freshness as far as whether I may have just opened a gallon of milk or whether it is 2 days later). I always use the same amount of liquid as well, which I feel is often a waste since the minimum amount required is too much for me at any given time. I have tried adding chocolate, both powder and syrup and it has worked out great. I love the ease of clean of this device. I don't put it in the dishwasher. It is extremely easy to clean, it doesn't stain or leave any types of marks. I drink my coffee with milk, so a device like this is a wonderful thing for me to have. I wish the thickness of the froth was better or more predictable.

I expected HOT to be higher than 160F, I was wrong. 160F is the highest temperature which limits some uses like brewing loose leaf milk tea etc.

I bought this. But base is pinkish and pitcher is regular stainless. This is my second one. The first was very very pink so they exchanged it. But this new one is still pink. They think it looks fine. But it doesn't. Need some quality control for this high price tag.

I received this as a birthday present exactly 1 year ago from my husband! I absolutely loved this product and even had friends purchase it because I raved so much about it! I was so disappointed to go and make my coffee to realize my brother crapped out. Like will not turn on. Let me state I am the only one that used this and didn't even use it every day. For the price I would have expected it to last more than a year.

Sturdy unit but does not keep hot for very long in Carafe. Make sure you do not add granular substances like sugar in the carafe as it will bog it down.

Received as a gift was thrilled. Shortly after receiving it it would stop spinning. When it works it is amazing. However I have not had it very long and it quit. I love Breville for it's amazing products. However either I got a dud or something is off with this product.

I would NOT recommend this appliance we splurged for this machine that only lasted a little over a year with light use. A stick frother and the microwave is better for reliability. I'm not a fan

This frother was pretty nice until it randomly went out, of course after the warranty period. We used it once in a while, it wasn't put through daily use. Also it does not work with powdered hot cocoa mix as advertised.

Good little machine for dairy but no luck with non dairy!
This works super well for dairy (even just 2%), but I can't find any non-dairy that works. I have tried the 'Barista' version of almond, rice, coconut and pistachio - and only a scant foam on the coconut. Pretty disappointed - as I am lactose intolerant and the description indicates some non-dairy beverages are acceptable. Any suggestions would be very appreciated.
So this would get a 5 if I was rating dairy and 0 for non-dairy.

Works pretty good for pure milk frothing. Horrible for hot chocolate or trying to make other mixed hot drinks. Can't even add two teaspoons of powder without it stopping completely. Not worth it unless you only make milk froth
