Taking the advice of other reviewers I ordered a size 40 for my 9.5 size foot and it fit perfectly (even though the Zappos description for this shoe calls 40 a size 10). I agree with another reviewer who said this shoe is not beautiful, but oh so comfortable. It is hard to find a great looking shoe that has enough toe room. I am on my feet all day so I opted for comfort.

I selected this style because I needed to insert custom orthotic insoles. The included insoles felt very nice and comfortable, but I didn't actually wear the shoe with those in place. When I removed the supplied insoles there was a lot of space between the top of the shoe (where the buckle is) and the bottom. And, there is a "ledge" that protrudes from both the toe and the heel of the shoe, designed to fit into a groove in the insole provided. This was a problem for me because my custom insole wouldn't fit under this groove. I ended up putting a memory foam flat insert into the shoe first. This filled up some of the extra-deep space, and also came up above the "groove" so my insole could rest on top of the memory foam insert. There is still more than enough (maybe too much) space between the top of my foot and the top of the shoe, and the buckle doesn't tighten up enough to really make them snug. All that said, they are the best option I've found and so far no blisters have developed, even with the shoe movement. Well made and probably delightful if you can wear the insoles they come with. For me, workable and I like having a closed-toe sandle.

Very nearly perfect for my feet. Roomy toe box, both width and height. Comfy footbed with leather lining, support, arch, and cush. Soft leather uppers. Stable sole. Almost perfect for my feet, except the leather at the tip of the toe of the shoe was hard and rigid, and when my big toe touched it too many times (just a few steps), it started to hurt. But, I have sensitive toes. I have friends who don't have that issue and love the shoes as-is. Regarding sizing, I usually wear a 37 in Dansko closed shoes and a 36 in Dansko open shoes. I ordered both 36s and 37s in this shoe and the 37s were way to big (wide and long), whereas the 36s fit like Dansko 37s on my feet. Enjoy these shoes. I wish I could have.

I have a short square foot, perfect for the Alegria brand. I ordered the Pesca in wide and regular widths to compare. I have a wide foot and the regular size fit just fine. The wide width was also comfortable, but I felt they looked slightly more 'clunky', so I returned them and kept the regular width. There is strong arch support. I have a high arch, so a high-volume foot. The top of the shoe is just slightly snug over the top of my foot. The strap is velcro and technically adjustable but it is not that flexible. As with all Alegrias the shoes are well made, sturdy, super comfortable. I would recommend them to anyone with wide feet.

The first pair of Alegria Pesca shoes I had were in a sage green. It was love at first sight when I saw them; I wore them everywhere, with everything. A new puppy destroyed them :( . When I went to reorder a new pair, the sage green style was no longer available so I ordered the cognac. I call them "fisherman sandals". So this latest pair doesn't feel as supple as previous purchases. I'm slowly breaking them in. Width was okay but the toe box IS snug. Hopefully they'll relax in time. Thanks for asking!

I am considering sending the shoes back as they fit wider and the heel slips very much. I really like the style of the shoes.

Really like these shoes. The style is appealing and even though they appear at first to be bigger, they are actually the same size as my Mary Jane's. It's just that the openwork permits you to see the amount of extra space in the toe. I think the extra space, in my case, is helpful to foot comfort. Nice color, and these shoes are durable leather, wearable for a lot of activities.

The size 39 was fine for my left foot, but too short for my right. I would estimate that the 39 size to be a 8 1/2. The wide width was good for my bunion. I wish I would have been able to keep them.

You know how you get excited when a package arrives? I tore this box open and put these shoes on my bare feet and did not take them off for hours! Truthfully, I think I will like them with socks, too which is actually why I bought them. I have bunions, high arches, and like cute shoes. These shoes are comfortable and are rubbing or pinching at all.

I love Alegria's Pesca. I bought the Tawny and they are a dark rich brown. I have the Pesca in navy, light brown, metallic, red, and now dark brown. I have had SERIOUS foot surgeries in both feet---lots of nuts and bolts in each foot. I can wear this particular shoe all day long just like I wear a stability/motion controlled tennis shoe. I really want the black pair, but I need a sale on these great shoes!?? Thanks,Zappos.

I got these shoes to walk in after spinal fusion surgery. I could wear them with or without socks and walk for miles right out of the box. Yes, they look wide in the toe, but I think they are very cute. I have arthritis in my feet, and these take a lot of weight off the ball of your foot. They are rocker-bottom, just like your doctor recommends. They aren't heavy, but not very flexible soles, which is a big plus for me. I've retired from nursing, but wish I'd had them then. I know nurses who swear by Alegrias.

LOVE this color, bright cherry red. Perfect. I usually wear size 9, but in some styles this = 40, others 39. The 39 fit me perfectly even with my almost W width. I look forward to wearing it!

These shoes are so cute and comfy. The sage color is exactly as shown which I love but unfortunately, these slip up and down on my heel. Not a whole lot but i don't know if it might get worse after wearing for a while. I just got them so I'm not sure if that's something I can live with or not. May end up returning but only for this reason if so.

Half perfect... Right shoe was ideal for my foot. The left, alas, was too snug even in wide width due to a bunion. This is a cute transition shoe and seems really well made. They are a bit stiff, but I sense would eventually mold to my foot except for the bunion issue.

I love my blue shoes! I usually need orthotic inserts, but not with these. The arch is high and firm. And they fit from the start. I wear these shoes often, especially with jeans.

So very cute and so very comfortable. These have the right arch support and plenty of room in the toe box. I hate shoes that pinch the toes. I'm unfamiliar with the European sizing, and so went with the size marked (6 - 6.5). I normally wear a 6.5. These fit perfectly without socks. I don't believe I'll ever wear them with socks.

The most comfortable and stylish sandals I've ever owned. I highly recommend them! I get many compliments when I wear them.

These are extremely comfortable right out of the box. I can wear them all day walking or standing! I love this brand so much I bought another pair. They also don't scuff easily and have superior support.

I was able to wear these sandals the entire first day I put them on. They are very comfortable and the wide width really made a difference.

This shoe is perfect, except for one thing the strap that goes Over your arch has two elastic pieces on either side, which allows it to give at every step. Those straps rub the side of your foot with every step as well. I have had to get very creative with Band-Aids and mole skin To try to lessen the impact of the constant rub from these straps. I am keeping the shoes because I am happy with everything else. They are a great shoe.

These shoes are absolutely darling! They are cuter in person than online. Unfortunately, the top strap is so short I could barely get my left foot in the shoe and the right shoe I could not get on at all. They had to go back. Too bad. Really disappointed.

The color was really rustic. It was very small. I couldn't get the strap through the buckle because of the brad. It was difficult to get my foot into the shoe. I had a pair of really cute Pesca in the past and wore them out!

As others said, this leather is very stiff, unlike the Mary Jane styles. I like the lower sole, so was disappointed that these were not as comfortable in the toes and around the ankle.

I liked the style of this shoe so much that I tried it in three (3) different sizes. On the third try, got the length right (a size smaller than my usual) but every single on was way too wide. I am truly disappointed in the show! Fortunately, Zappos return policy made it easy for me to keep trying - not their fault that the manufacturer has a faulty last.

First the color Is not even close to the picture. It’s full on brown, not tawny. Second it is impossible to open the strap as there is a metal slot and the button that can not pass through, so if you have any instep you can not put the shoe on.
