I liked this shoe but ended up returning it for two reasons. The leather was not soft and pushed on my "bunion bone". The other reason is that it did not look as good as I had hoped with the way I intended to wear it. However, it was nicely padded and would have been good for walking. I suspect the leather would soften up over time. Also on the plus side is that it was the right size -- sometimes with Dansko the sizing is hit and miss. The leather was a beautiful rich dark brown -- very attractive.

They are beautiful and best of all comfortable, I won't wear a shoe that isn't. I love them so much I tried to order the Teak Vintage color in them, but they are sold out.

Extremely comfortable

This is my all-time favorite shoe (aside from my Brooks Adrenaline sneakers). Soft, comfy leather, good arch support (my legs ache without good support) and really cute with pants or skirts/dresses! I may need to get them in the teak vintage color!

I broke my big toe on my left foot and the podiatrist recommended Dansko clogs as one of the first shoes to wear after I got out of my special shoe. Unfortunately, I have a narrow heel and I was worried that I would have to grip my toes while walking and many reviewers mentioned that their heels slipped out while wearing the clogs so I opted for Sam since the reviews were good. It does have a rigid sole and wide toe box and my heel did not slip. Yay! All my boxes were checked! The one drawback was it was a little tight on the sides of my feet (right where the leather in the front touches the outside edges of your feet) and was very painful breaking it in. If you have wide feet, these may not be for you. One way that I helped loosen the leather was wearing them at home with a thick pair of winter socks. I did that about 3 evenings. I’ve worn them now to teach in for about three weeks alternating them with a pair of new balance shoes (also recommended to me) and it no longer hurts or rubs! My toe is happy, my arches are happy and I can walk all day very happily. They are good quality shoes and worth the steep price. I like the look (better than traditional clogs) and I also like that they give some height too. Now that I’ve broken them in, I think they are comfortable but you need to get past the breaking in period (for me, it was a couple of weeks).

I have ordered this shoe THREE TIMES, I believe. Each time, there has been scratches, scuffs, or ratty looking straps. If I'm paying this much for a shoe, I want them perfect. I want them wrapped, not obviously been returned, thrown in a plain brown box, and sent to me. I WANT these shoes. Zappos, I love you. C'mon.

The shoes would have been perfect but I had to return them because they are very uncomfortable around a bunion and hammer toe.

Recently my dormant plantar faciitis has kicked in and I knew Dansko would give me the support and fit I needed. These are much less clunky looking than their traditional clogs and I thought they would be great for work. I normally wear an 8.5 or 9, so i ordered the 39 - too short and my toes were hitting the end of the shoe. Unfortunate because they were very nice looking, especially the very rich teak brown. Ordered the 40 in black, and while I could have made them work in the length, they curved right into the corner of my big toe on both feet. And they put some pressure on the out edge of my foot about midway down. So, these have gone back as well. This style is just not for my long, narrow, thin (in thickness) foot. Will look for another style in trusty Dansko. Thanks Zappos for making returns and re-ordering so easy.

Love these shoes! I'm a teacher and a mom, so on my feet all day. These were perfect for the in-between season of summer/fall. I was looking for something to wear with cropped pants and dresses that had a little more coverage than sandals. The brown color goes well with a lot of outfits and I have really enjoyed wearing these. The ankle strap is a bit short, so if you have wide feet this may cause an issue. O have not noticed any odor issues, as another review mentioned. I would definitely recommend buying these.

I loved this shoe - just too tight in the foot bed

I usually take a 38 / 7.5 but the 38 in this shoe was way too short so I ordered a 39 which fits like a typical 38 / 7.5 so I would order up a size. Nice, non-slippery drying insole and great support. Not the most feminine looking shoe but very comfortable, esp if you have foot problems like plantar fasciitis.

I was happy to see that these came in size 35, since the Dansko Vera in size 35 fit perfectly and are amongst the most comfortable shoes/sandals I've ever worn. Many Dansko styles have size 36 as the smallest size and the ones I've tried in 36 have been too big for me, although I wear a standard size 36/6 in most other brands. However, these (Sam) weren't as immediately comfortable out of the box as I had hoped would be the case, so I returned them. I wish the toe box leather were somewhat softer.

My go-to business casual work shoe!

Fit my size (40) size 9 perfectly! I have several Dansko clogs and sandal, and these are my favorite. They are so cute on and so comfortable. I wore them today for the first time and there is no “break in” period. I plan on wearing them on a trip soon. Dansko never disappoints me. I have arthritis in my feet and these are wonderful and never squeeze my feet. I love the dark brown leather of these. Looks so quality.

Not what they used to be! I had dansko mary janes 10+ years ago. They were high quality shoes I wore for years. These are lightweight and sketchy. The heels feel like hollow plastic and the uppers feel like fake leather. Boo Dansko!

These are super cute and super comfortable shoes! They are perfect for when I want to wear something like a sandal, but also want to keep my toes covered. I wear them with dresses and skirts, but they would also work with leggings. I especially like the dri-lex foootbed as my feet tend to sweat and this keeps my feet dry and comfortable. My typical size for Dansko clogs and the Sausalito collection is 39 and these fit true to size. The arch support is fantastic and I can wear these all day without any problems with my plantar fasciitis. I have the teak vintage color, which is a rich brown tone and I am also considering getting another pair in black.

This is my fourth pair of Sams. The leather is supple and does conform to your foot. The style is cute and makes a big foot look attractive. the buckle is very helpful in keeping your foot in place. The only drawback I see in this style is that it could use more internal padding and longer lasting support. There is very little padding, and the support goes much too quickly for the price of the shoe and the reputation of Dansko. Internal padding would add a great deal to this style. Yet, I give it a five because it is still a very functional shoe. I have not found any other shoe that is as good.

Really, truly comfortable and true to size! However, I am sending them back only because they weren't what I was looking for once I was able to put them with outfits I had hoped would work out.

I bought these to replace another dearly loved and worn out pair of Dankso Sams and the cut seemed different and more narrow than the previous pairs I've owned. I had to return them.

I am glad that I read the previous reviews and ordered a size larger than I usually wear in Dansko. They are a great seasonal transition shoe and I love the red color.

I needed to buy a full size up. Am happy otherwise!

This shoes has been a staple in my wardrobe for several years. I have them in every color and wish they had them in cobalt blue. Super comfortable excellent arch support. Wear them all day long
