These are great shorts but the sizing seems to be 1 to 2 sizes smaller than normal. One pair of shorts I had to order 1 size larger, the other pair was 2 sizes larger.

I ordered a size up and they fit a bit loose, but my regular size would be tight. Higher in the waist than pictured. Snap difficult to close. That said, I'll keep them and perhaps order another pair.

I have their pants and love them. But the shorts run small. I have a size 4 in pants and am a typical 4 or small in most items. I ended up with a 6 and fits fine.

Love this short except I think it stretches. I purchased 2 sizes a 6 & an 8. The 6 was a bit snug in the rear, so I purchased the 8. Unfortunately after wearing them 1 full day they stretched and are way too big. While I'd like to think I shrunk, seems unlikely since I wore them then next day. Bummer. If it helps, I'm 5' 9 1/2" Tall 141#.

These are well made and a cute style. They run a size small (in my opinion) but I may be used to different brands. I usually wear a 6 but ordered an 8 and they fit well. I am 5'10" and they are long enough on me. I got the sand/yellow color and it's very versatile. These will be good for dog walking, casual errands, gardening, etc.

Was looking for shorts for vacation. Love the softness of these, but they run a little big. I am athletic build and don't like tight-fitting shorts. I ordered a size 14, but a size 12 would have been perfect.

I agree with most other reviews that you do need to order a size up. However, since there is some stretch to the shorts, they do bag out a little after wearing them. I now have to wear a belt with them.

Well made shorts. The fabric and stitches are holding up really well. The button in front is different and funky. The waist band is a little tight fitting. I bought the blue and the brown. The brown seems to have faded a just little after several washes. The blue is really pretty.

These are great summer shorts. The color is as pictured and the length is perfect. They do tend to run a size small. I normally wear an 8 and had to get these in a 10. I also got the pink ones. Same thing. I gave them a 4 only because of the sizing.

I really wanted to love these. The fabric and length seemed perfect; however, the waist was way to big. The shorts fit fine through the hip and leg, and were a great length, however there is no adjustment ability to the waist, and so it gaped out about 2-3" in the back. A simple bit of elastic, or a drawstring, or some other adjustment would have been great. As is, the snap closure in the front would probably pop open when squatting, not to mention the huge gap in the back. Not sure why manufacturers put so much extra fabric in the back of the waist area. I have similar shorts by LLBean, North Face, and Columbia that did not have this problem.

I love the Kuhl splash shorts and pants but the indigo seem to run a little smaller than the grey and black.

I'm a longtime devotee of Kuhl and have been wearing Splash shorts for years. I buy a couple new pairs every year. This year they are all too small (except Slate). All of my old ones still fit great, so this is definitely a change in either Kuhl's sizing or quality control. It's disappointing, and not just because it sort of stinks to have to order a bigger size but because I just don't understand why companies mess with great products.

These did not work for me. They fit on the butt and thighs, but the waist gapped at the back and I would need a belt. I did like the fabric, cut and that they were not too loose/boxy, while still having stretch to move. I needed a 6 (and normally wear a 2 or 4 in mall brand pants), so I would size up to try these.

I ordered the Splash and the Mova shorts. I took the good advice of reviewers and ordered a size up; I wear an 8 (or a 6, depending on the brand) and ordered a 10. The Mova fit perfectly but these were just too big. They're good shorts, but if you're between sizes then order one size up from the lower size you wear. Because of Kuhl's wonky sizing I gave these an overall rating of 3. Also, in spite of ordering Carbon color I got something olive green. Sage maybe? This obviously didn't factor into my rating.

I really wanted these shorts to work out as I thought the color (blue), details and style were really cute. However, they just seemed to hit at an odd/unflattering length on me. Which is particularly odd since I am tall and have long legs! I'm just thinking that about 1" shorter would have been the sweet spot. Anyway, easy enough to try and return through Zappos! They definitely are a longer length, which is great, but might hit some people in an unusual spot. Might be worth taking a measuring tape to see where that really will hit on your leg. They did seem true to size and very comfortable.

These are cute but the other reviews are right. The sizing is totally off. These were about 2-3 sizes smaller than the size I ordered.

Having trouble with the sizing on all of these Kuhl pants and shorts. I seem to need either an 8, a 10, or a 12 depending on what I'm getting. (I'm typically an 8) And the WORST part is that different colors in the same size and style have been as much as 1" different in waist measurement. That's a lot! I tried twice, ended up sending most of them back, went to my local Eddie Bauer store and got travel pants there. Sorry Zappos, this isn't your fault, wish it had worked out.
