I wear only NB, always 9AA, regardless of style. Reviews refer to fit change from previous 1123, which I've worn. Most wore wide, so I thought I'd be fine with narrow foot. I needed shoes immediately, so ordered both 9 and 9.5. Need 9.5 and even with longer length, shoe is tight across instep, due to rigid band on outer foot. SL2 is my favorite NB last--narrow heel and wider, deeper toe box, but this shoe doesn't fit SL2 toe box description. 1540 is the shoe podiatrist wants me to wear, so I'll keep 9.5, but they'll have to stretch before I can wear full orthotics--just heel cups for now.

I miss my w1123's I was able to take them straight from the box and go. I NEVER had to break them in. I do like the color change, but I had to go from a 2E to a 4E. and what a price jump. For someone who has a plate and screws in her foot and needs a good shoe these prices are getting crazy.

Ordered this shoe as a replacement for the 1123 but as others have stated it is not a true replacement. I have always orders an 11AA but his new shoe is too short and rubs my toe. Also seems tight (more narrow) but that could be due to the newness? Just looking at the shoe, you can tell the toe box is larger. So I reordered in a 12AA (no 11 1/2 so I'm guessing the 12=11 1/2). I've bought New Balance for years & years and a plus was that they are made in the USA. But I was disappointed this time. Why change a good product?

Although the tongue was padded, it was too long and rubbed on my foot. I have a narrow foot so I ordered both the narrow and medium width. The medium was too wide, and the narrow rubbed where it flexed when I walked. This really only discouraged me because I am looking for a shoe to do the Susan G Komen 3 day walk. Too long to have something rubbing.

I am so glad that I can find half sizes online. My New Balance Store only carries full sizes when they are large shoes.

This shoe is great. A lot of cushion underneath and about the only (fashionable) shoe that would fit my 11 year old with 4E width and very limited selection. I wish it was priced lower, but there is no cheaper alternative in that width. The price is the only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5.

I have loved the 1123 9W for a number of years (kept buying it again and again) and was sorely disappointed when I heard there was a new model and I read the reviews. I went to a New Balance store and got fitted for a 1540 9 4E. They've been comfortable once I got used to them BUT I've developed a bunionette on one foot. I assume this is the result of these shoes because they are the only ones I wear. They wear down on the outside (I tend to walk on the outside of my foot). The shoes have worn down in less than 9 months and now I have to buy new ones. I'm debating whether or not to buy these sneakers again. The old ones were better. I"m frustrated because I don't know where to turn now for new sneakers.

I had been researching high quality walking/jogging shoes for a few weeks before deciding to purchase this pair. For my foot, I needed moderate arch support and a wide foot bed. This New Balance shoe is all I have been looking for in a shoe. I have used them for two weeks now to walk on my treadmill. My feet have never felt better when working out. I highly recommend these shoes. The only downside is that the shoe is predominantly white making them difficult to keep clean.

I bought this shoes at a retail store because they give customers a month to wear the shoe and then they may be returned. I am a severe over-pronator with an AAAA width and sore knees. The soreness in my knees disappeared completely and they felt really good when running. Unfortunately, I had to return them because the seam on the inside rubbed against my little toes. So far, these are the only ones I have been able to find that did not make my knees feel sore.

I first bought the 1122,then the 1123,now the 1540 which NB says is the same shoe AND is not the same fit. Each shoe has gotten smaller. I am very disappointed as I have had three expensive orthodic made for the 1122 and 1123. I usually buy three or more pairs of shoes on each purchase and now I can't find 1123 . I am now wearing my last pair of 1123 as I change shoes every three months. I bought two pairs of 1540 and had to return them. Now I am left with the expensive orthodics and no NB shoe to use. I have been very pleased for years with NB and very pleased to support a company whose shoes are made in the States. I hate to go to another brand. Will NB be coming out with a shoe like the 1122 or 1123????

First of all, let me say that I have a wide, flat foot. Apparently what that means to shoe manufacturers is that I need stabilization. I do not. The roll bar in this shoe is excruciatingly uncomfortable. When I first got them, I thought they were fairly cute. As usual for New Balance the fit was right on. I was happy to put them on and run out the door. I was back within 5 minutes, changing shoes. Since I took them outside, I cannot return them and they sit in my hall being glared at every time I walk by.

I have always purchased New Balance 5.1/2 extra wide, but how I wish I had tested them more extensively in-house before wearing them outside. The 1540 model is half a size too small and I feel my toes scratching the inside of the shoe as I walk. Being a senior, I am going to have to live with them for a while. Otherwise the shoe would be comfortable width-wise and support-wise.

Not thrilled with this shoe. As for length, my left foot measures 9 1/2 & my right 9. As for width I measure or wear D - EE. I purchased a 10 D in this shoe. The width I have boxy feet with short toes, a thick vamp, & moderate arch. The shoes fit the left better than the right. The right arch of the shoe hit my arch closer to my heal. The shoes have about a 1 1/2 in heal and a low front. When I put the shoes on they feel a little wide and big in the heel. Tying the last hole to keep the shoe in place caused discomfort. Because of the angle height of the heal of the shoe my forefoot is pushed forward into the toe of the shoe causing pain in toes and joints. Because of dance I tend to walk toe heal (I try not to) and up to 5 miles a day. This shoe is probably best for running only, with a quick heal toe strike. I buy running shoes because they're better for achilles tendonitis but these give me a new problem. Also, there is little cushioning, and the sole is very shallow, appearing as though it will wear out in a matter of weeks. I would purchase these over Asics. The Brooks Ghost broke down pretty fast for me with a wobblely heal.. Maybe I will try the Addiction next. As for this shoe maybe going down a half size? For me sizing my smaller foot tends to work better. What I do like is overall, for themost part, it is a good quality shoe.

These shoes are heavy. I developed some callousing along my outer arch from the footbed. I really wanted a discontinued shoe from New Balance, but decided to try out the company replacement. I only used the shoe consistently for one month. They are on a back shelf now and only comes out for painting projects as a kick around shoe. I was disappointed in this item.

I'm returning these shoes, although they felt true to size, the sole is not flexible and they are much heavier than other NB shoes I own. The black color is difficult to find so I'm disappointed. Sometimes you just don't want neon workout shoes.

It was a very comfortable sneaker because it comes in wide sizes but in the arch area it was pushing up so hard it hurt to walk in these shoes

I have been purchasing NB for many years. I have owned the 1121, the 1122 & the 1123. When I read the 1540 replaced these styles, I bought it. I am a former dancer with a small foot (5), high arch, wide fore foot, narrow heel and I tend to pronate. I was so disappointed with these shoes. There is no support in the fore foot and my foot supinates when I walk. The hind foot is supportive and the shoe is great if you have ever had plantar fasciitis. I could see that I would wear the outsides of these shoes quickly. I don't run, but I do fitness walk at about 4.5 mph. I have been buying running shoes because they last longer and provide more lasting support than a walking shoe. I ended up purchasing the NB 847, which is advertised as a walking shoe. Time will tell, but it is lighter weight than the 1540 and my foot feel secure.

I had so hoped this shoe would fit me. However, it is too big in the 13B and too short in the 12B. Additionally, since my feet over pronate so much, the loose mesh didn't keep feet in place. I liked the shape of the shoe, although the heel could have been narrower.

This shoe fits very well, but two strange things are bothersome: the tongue slides down, which then makes a bundle on the top of my foot. The shoe "eats" my socks, no matter what type of sock I wear. I have worn New Balance for years and never encountered this. I hope it wears well due to the cost. Zappos was great with all my returns.

Great fitting shoe, but too heavy for me! Had to return it for a lighter weight pair. Zappos help was great.

Extremely disappointed in the re-design of this shoe. It is not as comfortable as the previous model! I am a New Balance customer from way back and this has really disappointed me.

Bought these shoes for their stability. The wide toe box, straight last, roll bar are great. These shoes are very comfortable because of the cushioning and light weight. To get a good fit, I had to order a full size larger and WIDE, instead of my normal medium. The heel is narrow and comfortable. I do not like the white/purple/grey combo, but I can live with it and smile.

I was looking for a shoe that offered stability and good arch support but this shoe is so stiff and uncomfortable that my ankles and knees were aching after only an hour of wear. I love New Balance shoes but will look for another option!

No matter what they do to update their 1122's it will never be replaced...they really need to bring it back! So many of the complaints are missing that style. I've only bought a few trying to find that feel and fit and it just doesn't happen...it will force me to go elsewhere, especially due to the price as well as the disappointment. NB - Let me know when you get your act together and bring back the 1122's! If it ain't broke - don't fix it. I am diabetic and the 1122's were recommended by all my doctors.
