Comfortable shoe. I like that it has a wide toe box to support a Morton's Neuroma that tends to flare up easily. I have only worn it around the house so far, but pleased at this point. Plus it's cute on my foot, which is hard to be at size 11.

Great shoe for wide feet, you don't even need to order Wide! Plenty of room in the toe box in the medium size. Extremely padded tongue! Nice natural rolling walk through with this shoe. I wanted to keep it, but I need surgery on my foot, and may not be able to wear it for a while afterwards. 4 star on style because they made my feet look more wide then they are...but really comfortable!

I began a run training and wore the worst running shoe and injured my foot. I order these shoes the next day and they arrived just in time for my next session. I was still in pain but these shoes felt so good and supported my foot I felt minimal pain. If you have high arches these are the running shoes for you. the roll bars offer wonderful support and ensure you step correctly out the gate.

Have worn 1123s for a couple of years, had two pair, one pair was 1/2 size larger. The 1540s have a wider toe box (works great for me). The 1540s look wider to me on the foot. Dislike the color scheme, the stereotypical 'girlie-girl' colors (like Barbie's dream house, My Little Pony, etc.) I'm not into. Blue vs. icky mauve-purple would be nice or just silver or black so we could look like grown women would be great. But the comfort is incredible in my humble opinion. The toe box does run wider, the heel does run more narrow (which is also great for my foot, I have a narrow heel and the 1123s were always sliding up and down). I recommend buying 1/2 size larger than you're used to, the width was the same for me, but the 1540s were just a bit more roomy (which for me was great).

These are the best shoes. Started wearing them after having surgery on my ankle and needed to use orthotics. They are comfortable and make me feel much more stable than other shoes.

Love these shoes. Buy 4 pair a year and hope they never quit making them. Also love the color. Purple is stylish and functional. I have lots of arthritis and need the extra "marshmallow" soles to comfort my feet. Comfortable from day one. Will buy these as long as you make them!

I have bunions, flat feet, and a Morton's Neuroma. Along with New Balance Metatarsal insoles, these are the only shoes I can comfortably wear. Sad, but true. I wear them constantly, and suffer if I don't.

I like the shoes very much but they do feel hard to me for the bottom of my foot and don't have very much cushion. But I am used to wearing custom orthotics for my shoes that have cushion and I have only worn these shoes without.

I have challenges in foot comfort. Arthritis and other issues. This shoe accommodates the orthotic I wear and keeps me moving.

Feel GREAT! I bought these and Brooks Ariel in my search for a non-motion shoe. I have issues with plantar fasciitis and achilles tendonitis. These shoes felt great the minute I put them on. I ordered wide and combined with the style looks a bit wide in appearance. But hey...they feel great. The color is really nice. The purplish color is very subdued and an overall nice looking shoe.

My exact shoe size is 5, but I usually buy a size 5.5. However, after reading the reviews for this shoe, I decided to take a chance and go with the size 6. Sure enough, it's a perfect fit. Onto the support: I have weird feet, where my left foot is normal but my right foot overpronates. I've been wearing Converse, which has zero support, and because my husband loves walking around a lot (think 4 miles in a day), my feet have been absolutely killing me the whole time. I walked around all day yesterday and not a single twinge of pain! I love these shoes! My husband was right - feet need proper support!

I purchased these shoes for hiking, and they are the best shoes I have ever had for that purpose. The tread is as aggressive as it looks, the design eliminates ankle turns, and because the shoe is offered in a narrow width, I no longer have problems with blackened toe nails and blisters. A great shoe, only possible negative is the cost, but for me it's worth it.

For those of you who do not like the new 1540, try Brooks Ariel. They saved my life and I am a big girl that oversupinsates. Plus I am a nurse working 12 hour shifts so I know great shoes. Brooks also has styles for moderate over supinators. They have almost everything.

New Balance runs small. I knew that and should have ordered half a size larger. They are great shoes and I will exchange them for the next size!

Love these sneakers! They were recommended by my podiatrist because I have weak ankles and overpronate when I walk. They are great for stabilizing the ankle and heel. I normally wear an 8.5W or 8.5WW but was told to order a half size larger for a sneaker. The 9WW fit perfectly with my orthotic inside. I walk three miles everyday in these and have no issues! I highly recommend these sneakers!

I had Plantar Fasciitis. After research I got the NB1123s. When I needed a new pair I was bummed to find they didn't make them anymore. Which didn't turn out to be a bad thing. For Plantar Fasciitis you need a narrow heel to create a more cushioned heel using the fat in your heel, which this pair does better then the NB1123. The shoe is a bit shorter than the NB1123 by about 3/4 inch, for me that was fine. I had sufficient space in the toe box, may have lost about 1/4 inch of width. I like that this shoe has a good arch, as the 1123 didn't. I had to add a small heel orthotic to the 1123s, and I don't this shoe. Overall, I think it is an improvement over the NB1123. I was hesitant to order shoe, but glad I did.

I had purchased the 1123 at my podiatrists recommendation and ordered them in 10½WW which is a half size larger than usual. In sneakers I tend to need a size 10. The 2E was too big. I realized that they were so big that I needed to give them away. I have terrible foot issues and have had surgeries on both feet, spurs and wear orthotics. I recently had knee surgery. I decided to get fitted properly for these shoes not realizing that they were replaced with the 1540. I was sent home with the 10 W or D width and realized after a short while walking around my living room that they were too small. I took them back and got the 10 2E. They fit perfectly. After reading all of the reviews it seems that the 1123s were cut much bigger. I realize how off the fit was and how oversized these 1123s were made. I am very happy with the fit of these 1540s and believe that they are actually very true to size.

I am so happy with these shoes! I see other reviewers had some issues but I have never felt so stable in a shoe before. This is my first pair of this style of New Balance. I previously wore the 927 walking shoe and felt like I had blocks of wood on my feet. I have problem feet (flat, bunion, and no padding on the bottom of feet) and wear custom orthotics. These fit in the shoes no problem. That being said, my feet are on the narrow side and are thin from top to bottom. Maybe if you have a more typical thicker foot, these might be a little snug but for me they are an answer to prayer.

I have flat feet and have had foot and ankle surgery to correct a torn posterior tibial tendon; have to wear custom orthotics. I need a motion control shoe. Have been wearing NB 847 which is not quite as supportive as the NB 846 but are working. The 1540's were recommended by a shoe store that did not carry narrow. I ordered them. Physical therapist said they are the best shoes I've shown him. They are built on the SL2 last which is for a narrow heel with a wider toe box. I usually wear an 8.5 narrow in New Balance. I need a 9 narrow in these. Note to shoemakers: With all the technology available, can't somebody make a cute dress shoe that works with orthotics? Aravon brand is getting close!

After many purchases and returns, thank you Zappos, I think I have finally found a great supportive and comfortable replacement for my New Balance 1012. I think my feet will finally be happy walking and standing at my job for hours. Plenty of toe box room for my bunions and lots of cushion for my Mortons Neuroma.

This latest iteration is still my favorite athletic shoe. Cushioning and stability with a wide toe box, still narrow enough for my AAAA heel. Love them, but do get a half size bigger than the previous version.

I cannot find the New Balance 1540 in my size, 7.5 4E, anywhere except Zappos. This is the most comfortable shoe in the world especially for someone who suffers from painful bunions. The mesh is in the perfect spot and provides enough give so the the bunion isn't painfully restricted. Also, these shoes don't have to be broken in. Just put them on and wear them. The only down side is the lack of color choices. Zappos is very fast, and I like their humorous approach. Can't beat New Balance and can't beat Zappos.
