These shoes are not what the old M1540 were. These are squeaky and do not fit and the inside top rubs on your top part of foot. Not worth the money.

The New Balance M1540 is my second pair and years ago I purchased the previous version. Perfect for me in every way. From toe to heel a perfect fit. The wide toe area is a welcome feature. Kudos New Balance! And American made too!

I generally like to wear running shoes for everyday wear as they are best for my ankles and also I require a wide shoe. It seems to be getting more and more difficult to find a shoe that isn't some obnoxiously ugly color (i.e. yellow, orange, lime green) or design. Nothing like good ol' black. The New Balance M1540 fit the bill. I also needed some new shoes for an upcoming European trip that I knew would involve lots of walking. After two weeks of being pretty much on my feet all day and walking, I don t know how many miles, up and down hills, on cobble streets, through palaces and museums, my feet and ankles were very comfortable. A fine shoe indeed.

We ordered these shoes for my husband because he was having foot and knee pain. They fit his wide feet well. The first pair we received from Zappo's were both left shoes. When I called and told them a very helpful woman overnighted a new pair with a shoe for each foot and sent a label for returning the other pair. It couldn't have been easier.

This is my 3rd pair on this model of New Balances. My podiatrist prescribed them to correct a pronation problem that was causing pain in my ankles. As soon as I started wearing them the pain ent away.

Another great shoe from New Balance. I'm a long time fan of the 990 series shoe and still think it's my favorite fit. This shoe, however, is fully comfortable and provides more support when I'm active. I'm glad I bought more than one pair.

As a first time buyer I can only say that Zappos shows its true colors as a great site to buy. The shoes arrived within 2 to 3 days, the web site and customer support was great and a free return policy. Other than coming to your home what more can you ask? I will use them again.

Beware of the width! I like New Balance shoes, and have worn through several pairs of the previous model to this one, & a mens regular always gave me the width I needed that I couldn't get in a women's shoe. I bought a pair one year ago that were a men's 10.5 wide, which should have been abundantly wide enough, because I had read in the Zappos review that this newer version tends to run narrow. Well, they were so narrow (10.5 wide) that they nearly rubbed both my pinky toes raw. Needless to say, I was hugely disappointed but decided to try sizing up to a 4E in the width. I replaced them this summer with the same model M1540 in the 4E width and I am finally comfortable. Be very careful to size up in the width, if you have wide feet.

This is a great sneaker. True to size and it provides just the right amount of support. Would definitely recommend.

I have severe joint damage in my ankles and knees. I walk like Frankenstein. These shoes feel great and for my tall frame are a pleasure to walk in. Great comfort, stability and support!

I have very high arches and have, for many years, had severe pain in my knees and hips from running and other physical activity. These shoes are amazing. They provide the utmost support and in combination with my custom shoe inserts, allow me to be active again. I hope they never stop making these shoes!

Very comfortable shoe and can be worn to dressy events if no one is checking for fashionable footwear. Use them as primary shoes. Zappos shipping and return policies can't be beat.

Wide comfortable shoe. I have my own arch support so I stick that in there and it works great. I use this shoe for the treadmill and gym only just because I want to keep it looking new as long as possible. I have wide flat feet (like Daffy Duck) and this shoe is comfortable. I get tired before my feet get sore!

Like walking on clouds! Before I heard of shoes bigger than "W/Wide" I would have to buy size 12 and 13's. But now after discovering Zappos and New Balance I now wear a size 10-6E and its like walking on clouds. I've tried a few other brands but nothing gives close to the comfort and support that the M1540 gives. This is now my second pair. and I think I found the shoe that I will buy every other year now.

I bought these for my my husband, who is a diabetic and has problem feet and these are the only shoes he will wear. He says they are comfortable with good support, and come in wide sizes, which is a plus so he can remove the insert and put in his orthotic. He walks many miles in these and highly recommends them. The only thing he would recommend is to order a size larger, as they seem to run small.

Great for those of us with plantar problems, a great stabilizing shoe. I wear with pinnacle orthos and got rid of the plantar problems which I had for three years.

These shoes are great and were delivered promptly and without any trouble. They replace my NB1123 models. I bought 5 pairs of the old model since they were being discontinued. The new NB 1540 model is just as good.

These are perfect shoes for the pronator. My husband only uses New Balance for his running shoes due to insoles and pronation. He has many pairs of these and still loves them.

Great shoe! Especially if you wear custom orthotics. The fit is a bit short, so up one size from what you measure. You'll love the support this shoe gives.

I normally buy size 11 narrow in New Balance shoes but I had to go up one full size and now they are fine except I could use a little more arch support. Easily corrected!

I have the beginning stage of Morton's neuroma and it's painful for me to walk barefoot on hard surfaces, but I'm not far enough along yet to get shots or surgery. I hope I never will. In the M1540 EE I can walk up to 5 miles without pain. I usually don't walk more than that or run in them. So I can't judge the M1540 for heavier use. The wide toe box, arch & heel are sized just right for me. I could use them right out of the box. Support is good but not great. They look well made, but I haven't had them long enough to know how they will hold up over time. The style and color selection are limited, but the important thing to me is that my feet feel good in them.

This is the only sneaker I wear. Recommended by my foot doc, this sneaker gives me great stabilization and allows me to be active. My foot supinates and this sneaker is great. I really wish there were more color/style options. I am super happy for black/black...but more options would be so lovely!

I have very wide feet with low arches that makes for a wide footprint, these shoes fit my feet so well! I only wish NB made a workboot too.
