This makes my second pair of Palmerston Water Shorts. Whether playing in the water, relaxing on the beach, or fishing in our boat, they are perfect. The weight is just right for very hot weather, yet not too lite for cooler weather. I've worn my first pair quite a bit, and there is absolutely no fade in the color! Awesome product with an awesome quality for an awesome price!!!

Before the review, let me say ABYSS IS BLUE. I mean no disrespect to those who have said they are basically black, but they are not. They are VERY dark blue (like dark midnight blue), but you will not want to pair these with a green shirt or other clashing color. I am very happy with the comfort, convenience and durability of these shorts. They are great for the boat, they dry quickly, and they do include a light mesh liner (like men's swim trunks), but they wear comfortably with boxer briefs, etc. I am 6' 2" and a 40 waist, and XL (with 9" inseam) fits well hitting me just above the knees and snugging the included belt a little. I will purchase again.

I have used Columbia products most of my life. These water shorts (swim suit) have been my go to swim wear since I can remember. The new shorts I just bought are just like my last pair. For me it doesn't get any better than that. You can't wear out this stuff. By the way I am 70 years old.

This shorts are highly functional, looks good enough dry with a polo to dine in after being in the water to swim, fish or what have you! Great pocket, belt and inner net! GREAT price while on on sale, well worth the cost regardless! I love love love these! I am a tweener, L vs XL went with L, they fit!

I have owned multiple pairs of these shorts starting 15 years ago. They are perfect for Summer wear or all year round if you are so inclined. I love the light weight and especially built in mesh lining which eliminates the need for any under shorts! If you want to jump in the pool there's no need to change into swim trunks after you get out of the water ...your Palmerston Peak shorts will be dry within minutes . Highly recommended !

If you have to be in the water and out of it several times a day, these shorts are great. They dry quickly and don't feel uncomfortable in the crotch either wet or dry.

The Palmerston Peak water shorts are extremely comfortable and don't fade with extended use. I were mine as both water shorts (jet skiing) and for dress with a polo shirt (golf). The 9" or 11" inseam option is great. The material is good quality as is the stitching and I now have 3 pairs.

I've been wearing Columbia Men's water shorts for over 10 years and by far they are comfortable, durable and size I order is exactly as the label states!

These shorts ROCK! This is my second pair and the first lasted too many years to count. I love the waist strap and while the pocket layout (and quantity) has changed over time, they still provide secure storage for when I'm out of the water.

Best features: Long 11 inch inseam, belt that actually tightens (unlike board shorts that always seem too loose), front pockets are deep enough, good zip security pocket, built in liner, quick dry. I can walk, run and be active in the ocean with these shorts. I have 2 pair so one is always clean and ready to wear. I just bought a third pair to save for the future just incase they stop making these.

Love these shorts. Comfortable, durable. Have just reordered three other colors. Prefer the 9" vs 11" length

I have been wearing Columbia water shorts for at least 20 years. When I lived in Illinois, I wore them in the summer when golfing, fishing, etc. Then I moved to south Texas. These shorts are perfect for our weather. Golfing, swimming, fishing, amusement parks...you name it...these shorts have you covered for any outdoor activity. The material wears like iron. I have many of this exact model and have yet to notice any signs of premature or abnormal wear. The color stays fast without any fading or bleaching from chlorinated pools or frequent washing. I would describe these shorts as a cross between cargo shorts and swimming trunks. They have a liner so wearing them in the water is not an issue. But the style, length and pockets allow them to be worn in most any casual setting. Best feature is if your plans change...you don't have to change your shorts. Want to hit the local burger joint after swimming? Chances are they will be dry before you finish placing your order. I am a bigger guy and I find the sizing to be perfect for me. A little extra room is always welcome. And the 11" length provides extra protection against the sun when golfing. I have read some reviews of complaints of the lack of a back pocket. Yes...there is no back pocket, but it has a nice side (cargo) pocket to make up for that. I put my wallet in one front pocket, my phone in the other, and my car keys in the cargo pocket and I am ready to roll. If your a guy and need more pockets than that...well what can I say? And finally I have read some reviews that some people cannot tighten the belt enough, that one end is fixed. No it is not. The tag on the back that is wrapped over the waist band and stitched with two thread loops has to be properly removed. Just don't yank off the tag. Get a seam ripper and remove those two little thread loops (usually white thread so you would want to remove them anyway). This will free up the belt so you can center it and tighten it as much as you want. Heck you can even remove it and install it in the other direction if you want the buckle to work the other direction. Like many things, this complaint is nothing more than user error!

I live in the desert and love these in the hot months. The elastic in the belt could be stiffer so the shorts will tighten more.

So go out and get yours today. I just hope they don't stop making them.

Like the product. Fit is good and true but belt is too long and has to be cut off and sewed.

These are the best water shorts I have ever had. I wear them as a bathing suit and I use them to walk on the treadmill. I love how they dry so quickly. The material is great! In addition to the elastic waist, there is also a belt on these shorts. They are so comfortable and I love the light material. The color doesn't fade. I lost a lot of weight recently and was upset that my shorts were too big. I was so happy to be able to order them again in a smaller size. These are my favorite shorts.
