Nice looking hat. The flap is a little small, therefore the wind blows the intended protection of the flap away from your ears and neck a little too easy. Albeit, a very nice hat, good quality and comfortable.

I purchased this hat to give me sun protection, especially on my neck. I quickly realized this is not a good summer hat as the neck protection completely blocks any airflow, making the hat too warm to wear in hot weather. I then purchased the Bora Bora hat, which is open around the back, and that was a better choice for summer. I look forward to using this Schooner hat in cooler weather.

Great job at keeping the sun off your face and neck. Breathable and moisture wicking. Easy to tuck the flap up inside if you don't need it. Only bad part is I was using on a backpacking trip and would have liked to dip the hat in cold water to keep me cool, but the water just beaded up and rolled off (but that's why you get good breathability and moisture wicking)

This hat was not sufficient for my needs. Size runs small. No fabric liner in the top for additional sun protection.

The hat runs small even though it is a 'one size fits all'. The sun protector flap does not cover enough of the face (sides). They bill should be about an inch or two longer.

Wish it opened in the back so my ponytail stuck out.

I have a larger head and this hat is very tight. Gives me a headache if I wear it for more than 30 minutes. It's constructed very well and serves its purpose functionality wise, I just wish it was a little larger, since it has the drawstring to accommodate smaller heads.

I did not like the straight down back, it was not comfortable. I prefer the original cap with the scalloped back - good fit with sun protection for the ears and back of neck.

Ordered a hat with neck protection. They sent a completely wrong regular hat that was child sized. Now i have to go through the Troy le of returning it to get my money back. Second time around they sent the proper hat with a different logo on it then i chose.

I bought two and have used them several times. They are better then nothing. They don't shield my cheek bones at all. If the wind blows the back dosen't cover my neck. The draw string on them works good. There is no ventilation. I would like to redesign them with a light weighted string around the bottom of flap to help it stay down, and some vent holes.

I am a petite woman, and even with this cap's adjustability, it's way too big for me. I wish it were offered in a children's size.

The cachalot hat used to be more aesthetically pleasing and fashionable than this version. I do not like the contrasting bands that now appear on the sides of this hat. Very disappointing design choice. Please bring back the previous design.

I guess it would be a great hat if you have a pea head

Bought this to protect my nose, ears, and neck from the sun. The bill is too short to provide any shade for your face. The curtain is too short to fully protect your neck. The Good News, By shaving the material, Columbia increased their profit margin! Whoo Hoo for them .. too bad for you.

This hat covers my ears, the material makes loud swishing sounds with every movement of my head and I can't hear anything while hiking.
