The first pair arrived with a defective seem in the rear just below the waist line. Columbia was great about returning them and even refunded my original shipping cost and sent me a new pair with free 2-day shipping. The new pair are free of defects but are a bit too snug in the crotch so if you order these get a size larger than you normally wear. Otherwise I like them. I like the zipper pocket on the left side rather than the velcro flap pocket on the right. They would be perfect if they had a zipper on the lower leg to make removing them easier when you take the legs off.

I bought a pair of these from Amazon and I liked them so much I wanted another pair, but Amazon was sold out. The pair I bought from here was a little longer than the other pair I have, but still usable. Expect slooooooow shipping. Almost 10 days to get the pants. Really? 2013 and it takes that long? And that's normal for them.

Just got these pants in the mail and tried them on - they felt great and fit great everywhere except the legs were about an inch or two too long. I've had older versions of these pants that fit perfect in this length, so I don't get why the leg length is so variable. And it' not because we shrink as we age - we shrink from the spine far more than the hips or knees. Otherwise great pants for all season wear.

This is my 3rd pair of these shorts (2nd convertible pair). I like the way they fit, but the first 2 pair have the problem that the rear pockets loose their stitching and my stuff falls out. This also happened to my front pocket on one pair. Very annoying. Otherwise the fit is good and less bulky than other cargo pants. The fabric is great and fast drying. It would be nice to have a zipper on the bottom of the pant legs so that I could zip them onto the shorts without having to take off my boots.

Reading previous reviews I took the advice to up-size. I am a 32 inch waist, 168 pounds and 6'3". I ordered a 34" and the pants fit so if you are wondering I think you can up-size with confidence.

The pants are comfortable, light weight, easy enough to put on and off when they're full length, if you're wearing shoes. But, zippers down the pants legs would make it easier to convert the pants without taking off hinking boots or hi-top sneakers. I use the pants, mainly, in urban environments, such as for playing tennis or golf when the weather starts off chilly but then heats up, and for being able to pack light when going to other cities. That may not be Columbia's target use, but they're very handy for me. Be careful with the leg zippers; it is easy to jam them. Above all, be careful about spilling anything on the pants, including water. The temporary stain will be -very- visible and can be embarrassing.

Great pair of pants for hiking and trekking around outdoors. The pants do run a bit small, they were tight around my thighs and usually size 30 pants run a little bit big on me. Also, the website shows gravel to be a grey color, but it is definitely more of a green when you get it. Other than that, nice well made pair of pants.

Great pant. Nice and thin material and very soft. The shorts are not too short either, which can be annoying depending on where you travel. Great pant and great price. As always, quick S&H by Zappos!

Trim fit, not baggy but allows good range of movement. Wish I went with a darker color as dirt shows up very easily. However dries fast after washing. The belt that comes with it is pointless, and I immediately removed it. Why bother provide one?

I love everything about these pants including the good fit. The belt is a nice feature but not necessary since they fit so well. The workmanship is a bit lacking with some of the stitching. The velcro closures on the pockets in particular are weak and are coming apart. I could return them but most likely won't because my size seems to be uncommon at 32 x 34. I should also say that I am very particular about my clothes and the way that they fit and function, so to say that I was pleased with them and was willing to buy several more pairs through the website is really saying alot. This is especially true since I am an admitted tightwad and usually only spend what I paid for one pair in an entire year!

The pants are very high quality, but around the butt and thighs they very snug. I am returning them to see if the a larger size will fit better in this area.

I have 2 pair now & bought the third because of how well the other 2 have worked out for me. I took one pair with me to the Grand Canyon and their durability against cactus, rocks, and other hazardous things on rough trails made me a believer. After getting home & washing them they looked like new.

Pros o lightweight fabric is cool, quick-drying, and is easy to move in o slim fit works well Cons o stitching on pockets started falling out on day one as many reviews have observed o metal button is too tall for this thin fabric and wearing a belt will push it uncomfortably into your belly (see photo)

I have owned in the neighborhood of 12 pair of these in various colors over the last few years. In general I really like them. Durable, breathable, comfortable. However there is one critical flaw. The stitching on the back pockets comes out. Not sometimes... all the time. Every single pair I have had at one point or another, my wallet went sliding down my leg. Every single pair. I have restitch every one. This is the only product I have owned multiple of that had a 100% failure rate. Also I'm not the only review to mention these pockets either. If I was told that my wallet would fall out I'd steer clear. There is another version of the Silver Ridge Convertible pant marked "Utility" that I recently purchased. It seems more durable, but I can't weigh in on them since I have only had them a few weeks.

Have been using Columbia convertible hiking pants for several years... Great for light hiking but anything moderate and above, they quality appears to have been suspect. The zippers give out quickly on the pant legs. The mesh pockets are nice for some applications but if you stick a pen in there, they will have a hole in them in an hour. My latest pair of hiking pants ended up with a hole in the crotch in less than 5 uses. Quality appears to be not as good as it used to be.

They fit comfortably but the materal isnt as strong as i would of hopped for. They feel like they will tear easy if i brush my leg against something to tough. They also hold water if you sweat. Not as great as i would of hopped for

My biggest problem is there is not a good pocket to hold your car keys. The front pockets are a mesh, like in a bathing suit. The pants are very light weight, which is great. Wanted them as travel pants, maybe they will work will better as beach pants.

Fit and size were fine. However, I found the zippered area around the detachable lower section of the pants to be annoying and uncomfortable, not worth the tradeoff of versatility.

Too much variation in same sizes sizes. I have ordered numerous items of the same size and the length & waist has a large variation when the tags are the same size. This makes it very difficult to order on line.

OK, the good and the bad: * Ultralight weight material--very nice for hot weather * Pocket placement generally good * Belt is a good idea * Needs more zippered pockets for valuables * Right cargo pocket velcro inadequate; should be zippered * Skinny fit legs might be fashionable, but loose is better for hot weather * Stop using goofy names for colors; tell us upfront what real color it is, as the internet colors are inaccurate These pants are a replacement for the original Titanium convertible pants from a decade ago. They had issues too, but were better than this....
